Bu-but... I DON'T LIKE YOOOOU! I'm telling Nate!
|
Yeah. This is way too soon for him to fight back. Where the hell did he learn his netiquette?
|
There's fighting back and there's telling people to shove bananas up their ass.

Neither of which he has been here long enough for. |
We can just pretend I've been here for about... 2 years.

Against the rules.

I've been getting more into Electronica thanks to Radiohead's Kid A.
if anyone could recommend me some good starting electronica artists (I'm a noob to the genre), that'd be great :D |
autechre, d'tachi, boards of canada, venetian snares, locust toybox, gridlock and ital tek are all pretty accesible gateway idm artists
|
intelligent dance music is the dumbest name for a music genre. GOOOO
|
I agree. I read an quote from Aphex twin on wikipedia regarding the name of the genre:
"I just think it's really funny to have terms like that. It's basically saying 'this is intelligent and everything else is stupid.' It's really nasty to everyone else's music." haha, so true. and thank you, Leto. I'll look into those artists you've mentioned tomorrow. |
people who get pissed off at genre names are so lame... indeed, the premise of intelligent dance music was totally balls, but since it's creation it has been adopted as a legitimate term for a discernible variety of music. it is worth noting that Richard James said that quote in the mid '90s...
see also: post-rock. if anyone bitches about post-rock being a silly tagname i'mma bust a nut on they faces. |
I only like post-music. Its the best shit ever. It surpasses all conventions of music that it's not even music anymore.

@ Mr. Bungle
There are so many good electronica artists out there. Like Clark autechre (like AFX it is hard to pick one 'sample' from the artist - this one's from their latest album) Phonem oh and a very important one - Squarepusher - when this guy is putting out the bass phew . anyone seen him live? Gas - as you posted a sample of his ambient works. here's a full blood ambient artist |
Thanks a bunch, scrabface - will look into these later.
Funny, my cat is named Clark. Not after the band, though. |
now now, hit him up with afx-esque artists, don't bombard him with all things electronic, i had to limit myself lol because electronic music is awesome, although i could never get into squarepusher... far too cheesy samply for mine likingz
|
hey no problem buddy
AFX is unique, no one can reach his soundscapes cause he is building his own machines. and no one got his brain^^ Although I think sometimes Venetian Snares (never understood how someone with the name Aaron Funk needs an artist name) tries to imitate AFX and mixes him up with Breakcore. although impressive, he never seems to evolute, always the same sound, even his new album. anyway, I am sooo looking forward to the new AFX album, if it ever will be released. |

Don't judge me, people. I only clicked on it because Gas did the music for Osmos. |
And the beat goes on.
|
I've been a pretty big fan of Ulver's black metal work, specifically Bergtatt. I've known for a while that they later became an electronica group, and, I must say, they're quite good at it. |
yeah, i really dug the bm trilogy from them, I thought they just continued to get tedious from then on except maybe Perdition City. all of their latest output just screams "progressive band trying to do postrock"

I'm getting back into Jazz. |
i like a lot of the more popular jazz icons: chet baker + art peppers + dizzie gillespie + miles davis + paul desmond etcetcetc.... lovely stuff. that shit up there was awful though, get some Modern Jazz Quartet in you for jazz/baroque sort of shit.
really hits home how all jazz and classical is nothing but iiVI's and fourth cycling. |
Fucking brilliant stuff.
|
in a similar vein:
now sing How High the Moon to it! |
I'm learning that on the flute casually (outside of lessons).
|
|
:
The singer's voice reminds of Johnny Cash. (R.I.P.) |
Why would you hate to say it? The National is excellent.
