I finally got Minecraft and I want in.
I have no idea how anything works. |
Then I'd recommend the vanilla server first. Tekkit tends to blow away even those people who are used to Minecraft.
A couple of us will probably turn up on the server to help you out, once Havoc or someone else whitelists you. |
Hey BM! PM me your username on Minecraft and I'll add you to the server whitelist :).
|
Not a single Creeper had blown up in my Borg cube until some incompetent furry came stumbling in with his hissing green entourage. BM, if you ever want to visit, give me some prior notice.
|
Sorry :(

So... server is full of murderous psychopaths. I don't know where all of the famous landmarks besides glowstone spawn are. In the end I simply fled with a tree and a prayer. Got to the beach, built a boat and sped off into the distance. Turns out that sailing is a safe way to spend the night. I don't know how far I went, but I stopped when I reached a strange land of giant toadstools and mushroom cows. I notice that the place is pleasingly devoid of mobs. I bricked up the entrance to a cave and stuck a door on it, and I've set up a bed and some basic amenities inside. That should keep me going for a while. Hopefully someone will rescue me before the taste of mushroom soup loses its novelty.
The cave is pretty deep. Hopefully there's nothing nasty farther inside. |
I think I may have found your island.
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1349406822 Just be aware of sailing over vast distances when other people are on. It strains the server. |
He can't have gone that far. And there are no caves on that island.

Oh, I didn't realise that was the explored island. I missed the thin line leading there. I always thought that was NW of the spawn.
That does raise the question of where the hell BM found a mushroom biome given that hardly any ocean other than that has been generated. There were definitely no other brown islands that I could see. |
Could I possibly be added to the whitelist for the servers again, please? Trying for jobs and getting my act together left me with little to no time to play anything, but now all that's sorted I'm able to play without thinking that I'm a layabout dole moocher.

Vanilla server IP is 37.59.141.73:25704 including the port. Don't forget :) :
|
Perhaps we could set up a list of usernames somewhere? Like the OP?
Also, adding the link to the interactive map to the OP would be nice, would save hunting it down on whatever page it was posted before. |
I didn't include the port number, so perhaps that is what happened. Though I'm pretty sure I saw Havoc there.
I didn't actually get to an island, I followed the coast until I no longer saw signs of civilisation. The last structure I saw was a well-lit house under a crude American flag. I also saw a giant stone structure, like an upside-down "L" one block thick, floating in the sky over the ocean. Beneath it was am underwater pillar that stopped just under the surface, one of four that marked the corners of a square. Inside the square the sea level was one block lower than the rest of the ocean, so water kept pouring in, though it never filled up. Very strange. I thought my boat might have gotten stuck in it when I had to sail uphill. |
The water physics in Minecraft is just like the water physics of the real world.
Also, I don't recall seeing any of what you described. |
So from what I see on the livemap Genesis and Exodus have just been slapped onto the Ma'spa world, right? Where does the Genesis nether-rail lead to these days, then?
|
The original nether was replaced by the Ma'spa nether.
|
Oh, of course. It's been a long day :p
It looks like I'm not whitelisted. Can I be re-added? Looking at the livemap it seems that the grass has finally grown in my Skycastle®, so I might actually get around to finishing it some time. |
Ridg and Phylum are back on the whitelist :).
|
I just logged in and was looking through the community warehouse when there was a bang behind me that took off a few hearts. I turned around and saw a big crater, and the windows blown out. I tried to fix it but for some reason I couldn't pick up any of the pieces.
Then I got lost. Who built the Deanery? I found your larder while desperately hungry, and I ate one of your steaks. And a bowl of mushroom soup. Then I slept in your bed. I may have pooped in it. I feel terrible. |
:
|
Nah it's because I hasn't gotten permissions yet, I forgot to update those for him. Should be fixed next time you log in.
|
Where is it appropriate for me to start digging/building? I don't want to come out in somebody's underground lab or block their view of the Tree.
|
There's plenty of free space, just pick a spot. It should be obvious pretty quickly if you're building on someone else's land or something.
|

|
The Deanery is my place. You slept in my bed and gobbled my meat.
|
I think we both knew it would happen one way or another.
|
I'm sad that it was this way.

The monthly server bill just came in, so this seems like a great time to remind everyone that if you would like to donate, you can do so trough this link.
Everything is appreciated. If you can spare 1 euro or just 50 cents you are already helping out. Thanks! P.s. I've sent Wil an updated OP that includes the above link and the link to the interactive map. I'll work on adding a map for the Tekkit server as well. Just waiting for Wil to update the OP. |
Thank you, Wil, for a very generous €20,- donation!

Warning!
Tilco Manufacturing and the area surrounding it is now the Chernobyl of indescribably lag. Enter at the risk of getting sucked into the laggy void. The fallout will last for a few days. This health and safety message brought to you in part by Tilco Munitions: We sell guns and start fights. |
I already fixed the fuckton of problems you caused.
Speaking of which, using the Blazerod exploit to gain EMC quickly is cheating just as much as using the collectors was. While cleaning out Tilco I must have picked up two inventories worth of diamonds. While it is possible to do in the game, it obviously gives a way too big advantage. I can't currently do anything to fix this except to tell everyone that Blazerod EMC generators are not allowed from this point on. Find some other creative way to generate EMC that doesn't use a mistake in the game. Hula and Lenden, I've shut down your generator and left you some diamonds as (a very generous) compensation for the losses. |
Some servers have banned blazerods altogether (but not blaze powder) because of this problem. Maybe you can ban blazerods and then people will have to use my library to clone blaze powder from existing EMC if they want it for whatever reason.
|
Server Announcement Blaze Powder and Bone Meal are now worth 1/5th of their respective original ingredient instead of just half. This effectively makes it impossible to make an EMC farm with them, so that problem has now been fixed. |
Ah well. We didn't know it was cheating as it was a feature. We're sorry for what we did and it will never happen again.
And thanks for at least leaving us a few diamonds. c: |
Our servers have always been as legit as possible. Even though EE is kind of a stupid mod for multiplayer survival servers I do try to keep it in as much as possible. But people need to realize that if they are able to produce a stack of diamonds every 2 seconds it just ruins not only your own fun, but also the fun of everyone else playing on the server.
So just to make it clear to everyone once again; any form of excessive EMC generation is not allowed. If you think to yourself 'wow this is generating a LOT' then don't do it. There are plenty of ways to generate some moderate amounts of EMC by growing crops and stuff like that, which is fine. Just don't span farms thousands of blocks wide to generate colossal amounts of EMC. You get the idea. |
Well, nothing to stop people using mining lasers to turn up entire chunks like I was doing... Just be sure to do it away from civilisation.
BTW each time I log on (not as often these days, I know) I keep finding my Enderchest and Enderbag full of someone else's stuff... Aren't enderchests supposed to be unique to players? |
Supposed to be yeah, I think.
|
I've since found out that apparently they aren't unique unless you colour enderchests differently... You can right click the 3 pads ontop of a chest with differents dye to give it its own code. To align an enderpouch with a coloured enderchest, right click the enderchest with it. This actually makes them more useful - Maybe you can even set up some kind of mail system this way.
Hmm, now that's an idea. |
