Stargates aren't working properly; the signs don't display locations when right-clicked and using them does teleport you but also keeps crashing my game.
EDIT: Also buttons and switches seem to be really laggy, but that might just be my end. EDIT2: Minecarts are really off and keep causing suffocation damage. |
Stargates work perfectly find for me, are you sure it's not something on your end? I have noticed that using minecarts is kinda glitchy lately, including taking damage. All I can do is hope that it gets fixed in future builds.

Server Announcement Ladies and gentlemen, I am both proud and happy to announce that we now have our very own Tekkit server! :D Its currently running on my home server and I have been working all night to get it working properly. It is up now and doing fairly okay. My hardware and internet connection should easily be enough to run the server, but time will tell how good it will hold out. Right now the server is pretty much a direct copy of the Vanilla server as far as plugins and permissions go. If you're on the vanilla white list you are on the Tekkit white list and you will have the exact same permissions and abilities as in the original (with a few exceptions, keep reading). There are a few things that don't work (yet) or which seem glitchy. The major one is the flying plugin that we started using not to long ago which doesn't seem to work at all. The server also seems to behave slightly different when it comes to commands and console usage but as a regular player that shouldn't influence you. Consider the server a work in progress for now. Not everything might be working as it should, but you're able to play and do as you please. We'll iron out the kinks as we find them. One drawback to hosting it at home is that I have to manually start the server since I can't for the life of me figure out how to have it start automatically when I turn on the system. However once the backend is up and running the server should run, backup, restart and all that jazz without major issues. And if it does ever go down for a long period of time, you'll just have to wait for me :p. So yeah, that's that. Enjoy the server! I hope to see many big factories soon. Connection info: First of all you should download the Technic Launcher. This is a stand alone Tekkit version of Minecraft that includes a bunch of pre-installed mods to support Tekkit. It does not influence or alter your original Minecraft launcher or settings. When starting the launcher, select 'Tekkit' as the mod pack (large drop down button on the left) and log in. Then just connect to owf-tekkit.no-ip.org:25565. This adres *should* automatically route you to the correct IP adres (since I'm on a dynamic IP). Very exciting. To be honest, I've been playing a heck of a lot of Tekkit elsewhere, the main reason I haven't been on the server in a long time. I take it we're working with 3.1.2?

Can I get some more information about how Tekkit and the modding involved works? What version of Minecraft is Tekkit compatible with? Do I have to install it/uninstall it every time I switch between using it and the regular server?

Tekkit currently works with Minecraft 1.2.5, but you don't need to keep installing or uninstalling anything. The Technic Launcher installs a Tekkit directory separate from your vanilla Minecraft directory, so your existing save games and installed mods are preserved entirely.
(You can launch vanilla Minecraft from the Technic Launcher, but I don't know if that's your existing vanilla installation or another separate installation. If the latter, you can just use your usual Minecraft launcher to play your existing Minecraft.) |

Theres a piece of a track missing at castle station. Also the travel by cart seems to glitch up a bit. Somehow, it keeps hurting me and freezes. (I do not have bad connection) somehow my character looks like a steve now. Idk how. :/ I don't see anything wrong with the door at all except the problem you mentioned. None of the mechanisms are screwed up, well maybe the way the pistons react is the only problem (apparently it's the pistons at the bottom i found out). I can't fix this though. I tried a few times, lost one of your door blocks (sorry, but i replaced that piece with cobblestone) and got my brain fried over this problem. You may need to rebuild it. :( I may need some time off of MC just to relax. |
The place skins are saved changed with the last update, so everyone needs to reupload their skins.

So we had our first Tekkit server stress test yesterday with 5 people logged on at once. Those who were there can testify that HOLY SHIT LAG.
This morning I've allocated more memory to the server, which I forgot to do initially since I never had to touch memory with the vanilla server. I hope this relieves most of the lag. Let me know how it turns out. |
Well adding more memory doesn't work so I'm going to do one final test to see if it's something on my end or with the Tekkit server/world in general.
I'm gonna switch over the servers, the Tekkit server will take the place of our vanilla server and vice versa. If the original world lags as badly as the Tekkit world then my machine isn't powerful enough. I'll let you guys know how it goes. |
I've set up my base of operations in the snowy mountains where I spawned... a looooong walk from the main spawn area as Hula will attest to. I'm told there's aren't many sheep around spawn, so since there are about 500 near me, I'll be delivering two stacks of white wool for use in bedding and construction.
To help me, what are the coords of the communal base? If there is such a thing? |
Server Announcement After Chris helped me with some testing, we've come to the conclusion that Tekkit is simply to resource intensive to run on my home machine. It does however run pretty smooth on the dedicated server. In addition I also tested how good vanilla Minecraft would run on my home machine and as it turns out, that also runs like a charm. So we're permanently switching the servers. New connection info below. Several blocks of stone brick and sandstone have been stolen from the platforms at Ma'Spa Station; I repaired a little of the damage before remembering that I don't have to put up with this *clears throat* any more! Most of their sabotage is as I found it and now we can check who did it! They also placed some torches in the gaps they left to try and disguise what they've done. I can't for the life of me remember the command to inspect blocks though, so can someone either tell me or check themselves?
As builder of the station, I'd like to see the perpetrator prosecuted to the full extent of the law. |

@Splat - The command is /co i to turn on core protect inspector. Left click on blocks to find out who removed or placed them. Only blocks that have been unedited since someone touched them can be checked, so you can't check the blocks you've replaced or otherwise modified 'cause it'll say your name instead.

Thanks; I've checked and unfortunately it seems the blocks were stolen before the last server change, so I'm gonna have to collect and replace the blocks myself. So thanks, whoever you are who stole them.

There were some stairs missing from the warehouse earlier but I wasn't sure if that was because of a bug or not, but if they were replaced by torches then obviously someone took them.

I tried out the Tekkit server last night; world looks cool, though it's all a bit complex for me. I'm trying to come up with something to build but I don't really know what's possible. If I come up with a good idea, I'll come on and start building. I do quite fancy levelling part of the jungle for the construction of Dark Lord Inc.
