Plus it would be a nightmare to clean the crap out of the machinery, we don't want the spoiled meat getting spoiled some more, or would it add to the flavour? 'first our meat, then our bones, then our tears, NOW OUR ANCESTOR'S FECES?' I would love to see Abe use a proper bird power though, he is an evolved bird after all..

The Soulstorm Brewery IS prettier than RuptureFarms... maybe its to get the Muds to work harder. One day they could be promoted from Meat Factory Cleaner to Brewery Cleaner.

I can see why the Red Ring can be seen as a problem.
I do feel the shrykul could be used more for damage on the environment causing machinery to collapse on Sligs. Also this could effect the behaviour of Sligs later on in the game when they see you transform. |
It's nice to imagine what the ideal game would be like, but are we seriously discussing changing huge swaths of gameplay just to remove red rings and make Shrykull's appearance more impressive near the end?
I like the idea of making the rings more like an aura/bubble around Abe when he has them, and then that aura/bubble expanding in the same way the rings did to wipe everything out. They should definitely look more natural than they did before anyway. I just thought, will we still only be able to possess sligs? I'm guessing it will be the same as AO, but if they ever remake AE then I'd like to be able to posess slogs and fleeches, I hated the idea that those little bastards had more mental fortitude than a scrab. |
That was what I was saying a few pages ago. Theres no need to remove the red ring, you can easily make the shrykull more impressive without taking them out.

I went back and re-read most of this thread. We've been talking in circles about the same things for about forty pages. I think this thread should be boiled down to a list of all the most significant suggestions made and posted as a sticky or something.

Its basically just 6 or 7 screens in Scrabania. The best suggestions I remember were: More cave paintings in the Monsaic Lines No bats (or at least fix them, make them more like Bees or something) Get back to RF via Vents rather than a Portal The shut down of RF should be done using the Shrykull, not a switch Boardroom timer sequence should actually look like the Boardroom the whole time (as in it is some kind of control structure at the top) Chanting should disrupt lights and electrical devices in the area |
Ok, the most interesting things I have come across in this thread are; Shrykull power, Rings, Possession abilities, Bats and Boulders, security orbs, multiplayer and more in game animations such as mudokons working machinery. We've done the rings to death now, let's focus on something new :)

The things I wanna suggest, like having the fires actually emit light, are pretty much a given with the switch to a 3D engine, so I really don't know what there is left for me to say. I'll say if I think of anything...
OOH, I THOUGHT OF SOMETHING :3 Flying Sligs, will they be included? Perhaps the old 'flappy wing' variant rather than the Helicopter variant seen as the sprite in AE. |
I think we've discussed just about everything that can possibly be discussed. Minor things like rings and bats are the kind of decisions I think the dev team can handle without so much babysitting from the fans.
We should condense it down to story changes, character changes, and things of that nature. I don't think Glitch can be arsed to cycle through 72 pages of our griping over what color things should be, and I'd be shocked if Wil was prudent enough to be keeping track of our suggestions. Edit: :

I think that was still the explanation, but it took place several eons in the past, and was the source of the falling out between the Glukkons and the Mudokons.
This arc was far more interesting and sensible than the "lol the moon formed right as Abe escaped" idea, as it explains the origins of the respective races and would have actually made the Mudokons the jerks in the beginning, which is a cool twist. |

I always figured they were going to reveal the backstory further along in the Quintology, but just never got around to it for obvious reasons. It would have been interesting to see how Abe responded to the fact that his race's own folly is what led him to his current circumstances.
