Deltron 3030 is pretty awesome. Closest thing I can compare them to is Dr. Octagon (AKA Kool Keith)

OddjobAbe 02-06-2012 05:02 PM

I love the shit out of Don Van Vliet.

Mr. Bungle 02-06-2012 09:22 PM

I know I post in this thread way too much, but there's just so much good music out there. Like this classic Modest Mouse song.

Some of the best lyrics ever written.

Nightwish - Dead to the World

Ridg3 02-11-2012 05:07 AM

Started listening to The Cranberries. I was shocked at lack of Irish musicians that I'm aware of, especially seeing that there's some really good ones.

Really like what I hear so far. But this song stuck out the most for me, even helped the transition to the band a lot easier seeing as this is the heaviest song from them I've heard so far. Still not that heavy though and your woman's voice is fantastic.

Good song.

MeechMunchie 02-11-2012 06:12 AM

Impressive.

Fleet Foxes Sing... Rolling In The Deep

Fleet Foxes Sing... Walking On Sunshine

Fleet Foxes Sing... Never Gonna Give You Up

Yes, it's not really them. Robin would never miss notes like that.

Also,

Ridg3 02-11-2012 01:41 PM

Thanks MA. Really. Thanks.

STM 02-13-2012 01:03 PM

Because I can't tell the difference between Adam Ant and my Father. ;D

Mr. Bungle 02-14-2012 06:57 PM

One of my all time favourite songs. Reminds me a lot of high school.

Manco 02-15-2012 01:18 AM

I’ve been acquainting myself with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Never Sleeper 02-15-2012 11:48 AM

This is the closest track I know in comparison to the Main-Theme of Abe's Exoddus.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unLgOtSemOA

The interesting fact of this track is following:

"On A Static Place Stephan plays ancient 78rpm recordings of music from the late Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque era through two mechanical acoustic HMV Model 102 gramophones and records their output with a pair of customized mics. These sounds are then transformed into the blissed aural catharsis you hear through spectral analysis and convolution processes."

STM 02-15-2012 02:23 PM

MM reminded me, I don't know if anyone works out here other than him but if you lift weights or something, this is great for motivation, but shit for musical taste:

MeechMunchie 02-15-2012 03:30 PM

Work out? Heavens no. Just a few basic exercises, every day before bed. Times by a few months and there you go.

STM 02-15-2012 04:00 PM

Oh...well...still. Motivation!

Mr. Bungle 02-15-2012 05:19 PM

Burial has a new EP out. I suggest anyone even slightly interested in electronic music listen to it, cause it's Burial and he can do no wrong.

Just click here to stream the 3-track EP.
Second track is my favourite so far. It's godly.

Here's one of his other tracks if you need convincing before clicking that link (cause it takes so much work right)

MeechMunchie 02-18-2012 05:15 AM

Dynamithix 02-18-2012 03:30 PM

Why is Drive's OST so good.

Nepsotic 02-19-2012 04:46 PM

Am i the only person who loves portal 2 music?

heres a good song from the credits, quite funny if you've played the game.

Wings of Fire 02-20-2012 02:59 AM

Don't be hatin'.

Mr. Bungle 02-21-2012 07:31 AM

Urg, what's with all the soundtracks dominating the music thread lately. Not that I have anything against them, I just prefer music recorded for the sake of being art, not to provide background sound.

As much as they may fit into movie/tv show/video game I find more than half the time they just don't work on their own.

Anyways, here's some Pixies cause why the hell not.

Wings of Fire 02-21-2012 07:48 AM

I just prefer music recorded for the sake of being art, not to provide background sound.

There is exactly as much artistic integrity between a good media composer and a good songwriter. Both kinds are just as susceptible to hack jobs and genius.

MeechMunchie 02-21-2012 01:50 PM

It's just that a lot of people who enjoy a game become convinced that an objectively terrible soundtrack was partly responsible.

Dynamithix 02-21-2012 02:19 PM

Why do the best electronic artists come from France?

I just want to listen to this all day all night

OddjobAbe 02-21-2012 02:43 PM

This man is the electronic artist from France.

Hazel-Rah 02-22-2012 05:27 AM

Am I the only one who likes Weird Al's original stuff better than his parodies?

MeechMunchie 02-22-2012 06:01 AM

No, I like Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota. But Everything You Know Is Wrong is a They Might Be Giants parody.

Mr. Bungle 02-22-2012 07:11 PM

Have I mentioned how much I love Boards of Canada?

I recommend all electronicfags listen to these three glorious songs.

Dynamithix 02-23-2012 04:30 PM

This is so beautiful.

sheridanm962 02-24-2012 12:06 PM

This really takes the cake on his last EP

Oh and I heard he's making a new EP Voltage in two days

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voltage_(Skrillex_album)

Crashpunk 02-24-2012 12:39 PM

I know I post a lot of Killing Joke. But I just can't help it, I love them so much. I'm going to see them Live 9th March and I can't wait.

Dynamithix 02-24-2012 02:43 PM

Manco 02-24-2012 06:18 PM

I mentioned before I was trying to acquaint myself with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Well here’s what is quite possibly the best performance I’ve ever heard:

If the lyrics don’t mean much, consider Wikipedia’s summary:
:

The song tells the story of a man about to be executed by the electric chair. The "Mercy Seat" refers both to the throne of God in the heavens, which the man feels he will soon visit, and to the electric chair. The song is laden with allusions to Christianity; in the Old Testament, the mercy seat is the symbol of the throne of God over the Ark of the Covenant.
But what I love most is the way the whole track slowly builds up in complexity and intensity. I need to find more songs like this.

Crashpunk 02-25-2012 02:25 AM

New PiL/Public Image Ltd. song. One Drop

A seriously good tune.

Wings of Fire 02-25-2012 07:03 AM

Still my second favourite song ever.

MeechMunchie 02-26-2012 10:11 AM

sheridanm962 02-26-2012 11:01 AM

Howdy there strangers: A little ZZ Top for yer troubles out there, woo!

Mr. Bungle 02-27-2012 10:17 AM

Listen to this:

Then listen to this:

sheridanm962 02-27-2012 10:49 AM

Joe Satriani is coming LIVE!!!!

I hope I get to see him :(

MeechMunchie 02-27-2012 11:44 AM

yay

And it's got twice as many tracks as their last mediocre effort, so I'm optimistic.

Crashpunk 02-27-2012 01:09 PM

Been listening to some classic AC/DC
