The hideousness of that way overrides the novelty.

My desktop has no icons, only a really cool empty background and tons of sci-fi looking equipment all over it. I have tons of program shortcuts accessible by a little bit of button-pushing...

Real computer users have icons on their desktop. It was how we grew up and boy, how grateful we were to have a nice workspace for all our applications instead of running them one at a time.

We have a legacy to uphold here, ya know.

I bet none of you guys ever had the experience of Windows 3.1. We would have loved icons on our desktop.

Start up the computer, go into DOS, then go into Windows. Then when you're done, exit Windows. I'm so glad those days are over.

Windows 98 second edition was one of MS's most stable operating systems, aside from 2000 pro, which is what I upgraded from.

My dad had me hooked on computers since DOS... I remember windows 3.1 ... It was fun...


I really miss the dos-games though. And having a bunch of friends over while playing Jazz Jackrabbit... And having the back seater do a "voice-over" for the bad guy or the main character n stuff .. *nostalgia* =(
