I just discovered that if you mix the following sounds:
First level (r1.lvl)
With
L1 (Not sure which level, l1.lvl)
Pressing "8" as a slig makes him say "Stay". Where's that from?

In the Abe’s Oddysee demo for the PlayStation, Abe says ‘Stay here’ instead of ‘Wait’. Evidently, it was changed to just ‘Stay’ at some point in between the two, but the sound was kept encoded in the game.

So he says "stay" in the demo. In AO he says "wait" How can you get the demo?

Well you could get it from 1997 with your playstation 1 or you could look on ebay for it lol.

There is a pc demo you can download from oddworld.com but the PC one was patched and updated and has no original sounds.

No wonder why PC version was released a month later...

he uses the camtool paul gave us, it converts cam to bmp and bmp to cam, im working on an exoddus mod for abe's oddysee!

No I mean what he used to change the talk sign. Nothing special I'm sure but I'd like to know.

mspaint, painshop pro, photoshop... there's tons

You woulden't believe it but I made every screen on MSPaint lol.. Even the talk sign that was done with alot of copy and pasting.

I use adobe photoshop 7.0, when scaling, it blurs it a bit.

How come when i add my own lvl file and insert it into the abe's oddysee directary, the game crashes on the loading screen?

Wrong name? Missing files (you can't just throw anything in there, you need all the orginal files / edited verisons)
Thats about all I can think of.. or you're editing the wrong file

On Topic-what version do you have, maybe the lvl file is a bit different or cam file is different, just guessing, oh, and paul i tested the ps1 abe's oddysee cam files, and they don't convert, there in different format-On Topic

Yeah PSX ones are in TIM format, and the AE ones are diffrent, as I've said before its *only* for AO PC version

Hey paul, I know theres been alot of disscussion in this topic lately but what progress have you made on other things? like have you tryed extracting sound and movies etc? Or have you just been experimenting with sprites?

I've not had much time at all, ive been looking at the sprite decompression algorithms, it seems to be a one way process atm
I've also been looking at AE cam files, which ALSO has some lame compression in them

by lame do you mean bad or something, cause iv'e herd of something called lame mp3 codec or something. something something something something.......

lol no I don't mean "lame compression" I mean lame as in annoying/bad/pissing me off
