Does anyone know where I can watch the Hand of Odd videos?

Glukinator 04-17-2006 05:32 PM

I don't think they have those yet, but I'm not possitive.

The Marching Mudokon 04-17-2006 06:19 PM

You can find them on the Oddworld DVD (but I assume you don't have it otherwise you wouldn't be asking) or maybe on yahoo videos or google videos. Other than that I can't help you.

Slaveless 04-18-2006 07:30 AM

Just curious, but does anyone know the averge lifespan of an intern? I'm very curious to know.

Glukinator 04-18-2006 09:57 AM

i think it's in here http://www.oddworld.com/universe/ind...ow_intern.html

Wil 04-18-2006 11:09 AM

It's not. 'Tis a mystery.

The video featuring Mudokons hunting and dancing was online at one point, but I don't think it is now. I might get it up on TOL some time.

Ninjaxe 04-18-2006 11:34 AM

I want to ask that THE SHRINK is the muds' Queen right? So its incase in robot suit of some kind created by vykkers. So that means not all vykkers are bad? or is it that the Shrink queen in captivity so that why it Munch's Oddysee, Abe and Munch had to save their unborn brothers?

Xavier 04-18-2006 12:03 PM

the shrink isn't the queen at all it's designed to keep Sam the mudokon queen stable

Cullen Heath 04-18-2006 04:49 PM

While we're on this topic, why do Shrinks have screens with Mudokon faces on them? Why not a Glukkon face, or something else?
I just find it weird that something watching over Sam, to make sure she doesn't escape, has the same face of her own kind. You'd think that it would have the face of something evil.

used:) 04-18-2006 04:57 PM

It is to make their victim feel more comfortable talking to or obeying them. Kind of what like psychiatrists do.

Sekto Springs 04-19-2006 03:02 PM

Shrinks are designed to treat suicidal mudokons. Seeing a fellow mudokon face is alot more comforting than a glukkon's.

outlaw king 04-19-2006 03:12 PM

Yeah , a glukkon face saying something like " aw , dont worry , itll all be better soon , dont kill yourself! old buddy! " Would scare the crap outta me , and i would probably die of shock from a glukkon saying something that considerate.

By the way , what are those masks palookas henchmen wear? the look like clown masks.

Sekto Springs 04-19-2006 03:20 PM

Yeah. Palooka's band of baddies seem to have made masks their trademark. The minions, Palooka himself, and his ex-partner Scuz all wear masks.

Does anyone know if the Collector's Folio Edition of the Oddworld art book ever came out? I remember sending an e-mail to Ballistic Publishing and I got this in response:

Adam,
The Folio Edition -- you are observant! We are still considering if and
how we might do this edition at all. We might do a very few of these --
double size (width, height and thickness), hand tooled heavy leather and
boxed binding. If we do these they will be extremely limited (just 1 - 10
probably) and could cost upwards of US$ 1,500.

We are looking at the possibility extending the editions we print to the
finest books ever made -- large folio sizes, highly decorated bindings,
gilding, hardware and boxing. However it is extremely expensive to make
books like this -- especially in very small quantities. At this stage we are
still investigating how we might make these editions.

I would be happy to hear your comments on collectors editions and the market
for them.

Regards

Mark

Then:

Adam,
Thanks for the reminder. I would love to do this edition. I did discuss
it briefly with Lorene Lanning and Sherry McKenna earlier this month but
none of us are in a position to move the idea forward just now.
I did think of starting a call for interest in such an edition -- if we got
enough interest / pre-orders then we could do a special print based on those
(if we get enough).

Keep reminding me.

Cheers.

Mark

So any clues if it was released? I know he said they had no plans at that very moment but it's been awhile now and I just wanted to know if it was released.

Ninjaxe 04-20-2006 01:54 AM

Dont the interns workers eat all? Vykkers have stitch up their lips/mouths!!

The Marching Mudokon 04-20-2006 01:59 AM

Maybe they get their nutrients intravenously.

Xavier 04-20-2006 03:58 AM

TMM
I have no clue about when they will release it, sorry
plus 1500$ is way too much for me to pay

The Marching Mudokon 04-20-2006 05:07 AM

Agreed. But if I won the lotto...

Ninjaxe 04-20-2006 05:09 AM

:

Maybe they get their nutrients intravenously.

You mean through needles. Like mmmm apple sauce! Not that apples exist in oddworld

Enjoy

Sekto Springs 04-20-2006 01:12 PM

Those are all just precursor MO videos except perhaps the first one.

Oh, and there is Opple sauce.

Wil 04-20-2006 02:20 PM

Yep, the first is just a CG test.

The Marching Mudokon, I don't think enough books were ever sold to encourage either Ballistic or OWI to consider a Folio edition for too long. It's such a shame. $1500 is a shocking amount… but I do love an elegant book. I do.

The Marching Mudokon 04-20-2006 05:36 PM

I do as well. It is alot to pay for them but there was only going to be 15 of them so they would of been extremely collectable. If I had won the lottery I wouldn't of hesitated to get one (or two :p) but otherwise I don't think many people would even consider buying one.

Nate 04-20-2006 10:44 PM

I don't understand what the difference would have been to the limited edition.

The Marching Mudokon 04-20-2006 10:59 PM

The main difference is double size (width, height and thickness), hand tooled heavy leather and boxed binding. Other than that I'm not too sure if there is a difference.

Is the circle the Mudokons send the lighting from in the AO ending possibly Storm Circle? That's just how I've always seen it.

Slaveless 04-21-2006 06:19 PM

I always thought they were in a circle that would make a small amount of power of the Shrykull. I never thought it was a Storm circle.

I have a question of my own. I looked at the overview of SW, and I saw that Grubbs were around 6 feet. And Mudokons are a little over 6 feet in the AO overview. That makes the two natives the same size. Is that true? I don't think that those natives could have relative sizes.

Sekto Springs 04-21-2006 07:05 PM

We've long since deduced that those height charts aren't quite accurate. If Abe is 5' 8", then Molluck would be maybe 6' 5", but according to the chart he's 9 something feet.

Munch's Master 04-22-2006 06:03 AM

:

Now this, for me, is an interesting issue. Everyone else (Or at least mostly everyone else) believes Interns can't speak and have had their mouths stitched up, which leads to the eating query. I take the words in MO literally- They've been surgically prevented from whistling while they work, not neccessarily from speaking and/or eating.
And as Sekto said, Oddworld does have Opples, which are basically apples.

Nate 04-22-2006 07:55 AM

:

I'd say that it is something similar to a storm circle. I've always figured that there was a number of different mudokon facilities used to combine the spiritual power of a number of muds for various purposes. But each one would have to be built differently to channel the energies in different ways.

Xavier 04-22-2006 02:46 PM

I agree, it's like a storm circle and uses the same features to canalise the mudokons' power but isn't exactly the same

Slaveless 04-22-2006 06:10 PM

:

Well, I thought that the charts were correct, since Snoozers are really around 12 feet. So that was just my theory that it was accurate.

:

Well, I beg to differ. Our mouths and other animals mouths, shape to form the sounds coming out of our mouths. Therefore, if your mouth is prevented to form a whislting shape, you cannot shape your mouth anymore than it can. So, Interns can't speak in this theory, just more of grunts.

Munch's Master 04-23-2006 04:21 AM

^^ Yes, but Intern mouths are completely different to human mouths, for one they're vertical. Also this is Oddworld, they may be able to whistle in other ways. But I do see your point and it is very valid.

Sekto Springs 04-23-2006 07:48 AM

I can only imagine the complaints OWI would get if intern mouths weren't sewn shut. :dodgy:

Glukinator 04-23-2006 08:44 AM

If Interns' mouths are sewed together, than how can they breath?
http://www.oddworld.au.com/universe/...s/intern02.jpg

used:) 04-23-2006 08:46 AM

They are not sewn tight shut, just enough so they can't wistle. They are still able to breath with the little opening between their lips.

Bullet Magnet 04-23-2006 09:13 AM

You can hear them grunt and "scream". You couldn't if no air could escape. Looking at the intern's skeleton, their surgury looks to be far more extensive than we realise: they have no jaw. It makes sense, given the Vykkers' disposition, but another theory is that they originally had sucker mouths, like lampreys.

Oddish 04-23-2006 09:43 AM

I agree with you, Bullet. The intern's skelliton confuses me, I was expecting a vertical jaw, but it's only muscle.

Xavier 04-23-2006 10:58 AM

maybe that's why they are so addicted by easy eated pills :p

Ninjaxe 04-26-2006 06:09 AM

Has the names turns to Native wildlife?

e.g I was a Mudoken Scub, now I am a fuzzle.
