Right. No more straying from the topic. Keep it directly linked or i'll close this. Like a ...um...thread with lots of spam.

YEAH!

More incidents, three or four explosions, seem to be dummy nail bombs, but no confirmation

Jacob 07-21-2005 07:25 AM

'but I have to respect them for being one of the only Countrie's leader's completely stood up to the Shrub.'

That's because he had dealings with Saddam.

"Breaking news: Five policeman just chased down a man and they each shot him after he tripped. No word yet on if it's related to the last set of bombs which were attempted, but it is assumed he was."

By the way I'm only saying what my parents have just told me.

The official news,

:

A man has been shot dead by armed officers at Stockwell Tube station, as police hunt four would-be bombers.

Passenger Mark Whitby told BBC News he had seen a man of Asian appearance shot five times by "plain-clothes police officers" with a handgun.

"I saw the gun being fired five times into the guy - he is dead," he said.

Passengers were evacuated from the Northern Line station in south London. The incident followed four attempted bombings in the capital on Thursday.

Police have cordoned off a 200-metre area around Stockwell station.

Services on the Victoria and Northern lines were suspended following a request by the police.

Ambulances, including an air ambulance, have been sent to the scene at Stockwell.

Mr Whitby, told BBC News: "I was sitting on the train reading my paper.

"I heard a load of noise, people saying, 'Get out, get down!'

"I saw an Asian guy run onto the train hotly pursued by three plain-clothes police officers.

'Bomb belt'

"One of them was carrying a black handgun - it looked like an automatic - they pushed him to the floor, bundled on top of him and unloaded five shots into him."

BBC Home affairs correspondent Margaret Gilmore said officers had challenged a known suspect they had been following.

"He ran, they followed him. They say they gave him a warning, they then shot him.

"They brought in the air ambulance. They did everything they can to revive him. He died at the scene."

Police had warned they would shoot to kill if they believed somebody to be a threat, she added.

BBC crime correspondent Neil Bennett said the suspect was being followed as a result of CCTV footage seen by officers investigating Thursday's explosions.

The Muslim Council of Britain said Muslims were concerned about a possible "shoot to kill" policy.

Spokesman Inayat Bunglawala said "There may well be reasons why the police felt it necessary to unload five shots into the man and shoot him dead, but they need to make those reasons clear.

"It's vital the police give a statement about what occurred and explain why the man was shot dead."

Another passenger on the train, Anthony Larkin, told BBC News the man had been wearing a "bomb belt with wires coming out".

"I've seen these police officers shouting, 'Get down, get down!', and I've seen this guy who appears to have a bomb belt and wires coming out.

"People were panicking and I heard shots being fired."

Former Flying Squad officer, John O'Connor, told BBC News: "The man shot must either be one of the bombers or a potential suicide bomber."

Bombers "don't always carry sports bags" and the man could easily have been wearing a bomb belt, he added.

If he had been challenged by police and failed to stop they "have not got a lot of alternative", Mr O'Connor told BBC News.

Officers would be trained to aim for the head as shots to the torso could trigger a hidden explosive device, he added.

Londoner Dan Copeland was in the carriage in which the man was shot.

He told BBC News: "We were sitting for a few minutes on the platform, then we heard shouting from the concourse between the two platforms.

'Dull bangs'

"Then the man burst in through the door to my right and grabbed hold of the pole and a person by the glass partition near the door, diagonally opposite me.

"An officer jumped on the door to my left and screamed, 'Everybody out!'

"People just froze in their seats cowering for a few seconds and then leapt up.

"As I turned out the door onto the platform, I heard four dull bangs.

"I ran past an armed officer who was standing on the platform and ran up the stairs."

After Thursday's London blasts, the bombers fled when detonators went off, causing small blasts, but failed to detonate the bombs themselves.

A massive hunt is under way for the men. Analysts believe evidence from the four scenes - at Oval, Shepherd's Bush, Warren Street and on a bus in Shoreditch in east London - could throw light onto the bomb attacks carried out on 7 July.

On Thursday, it is thought detonators went off, causing small blasts, but failed to detonate the bombs themselves.

The attempted attacks caused travel chaos across the capital, with several lines closed and Tube stations evacuated.

Scotland Yard commissioner Sir Ian Blair said the attacks had been intended to kill people.

Second wave of London bombers were all idiots...

Anyone heard the news? Suicide bombers attempted to blow up trains and whatnot, but instead they screwed it up and got shot to bits by the Brits!

Yay for Britain! UK FOR TEH WIN!

Godlesswanderer 07-22-2005 07:41 AM

Yeah, I posted the BBC news article in the 'London Attacked' thread.

Hahahaha! That must of been great for them.

Jacob 07-22-2005 09:16 AM

I've said it once in the original thread and i'll say it again - our terrorists are f*cking ridiculous. And once again, one of the pricks left a potential bomb on a bus...and once again it was on the back of the top storey.

Seriously, who're training these tossers? The Muppets?

Facsimile 07-22-2005 09:44 PM

Wait a minute... Who changed the title of this thread?

So now bombings could be considered a common occurance in London, is anyone that lives there afraid?

Leto 07-22-2005 10:21 PM

From what I heard off the news, one of the bombers actually looked straight at the camera he was passing. Idiot.

Wait a minute... Who the **** changed the title of this thread?

Look, new mods, I know you must have burning desires to use your new powers, but please don't abuse it, my old title was fine.

Hobo changed the title and merged the two London threads. The changing of the title is to suggest to people where the other thread went and that this is now the only London Bombings thread.

Yeah, i know sorry. I accidentally gave this thread the name of the other thread when i merged them, and couldn't remember the original title, so i just made it simple. I'd change it again, but it all seems trivial.

This is getting really bad, now theres been an attack that's killed 83 people in Egypt. It seems like everyday something is happening now, not that there hasnt been car bombs in the middle east before but these attacks seem to just be getting worse.

T-nex 07-23-2005 09:14 AM

Hmm, things only seem to be getting worse :(. I'm a bit scared, cause I'm still in canada, and in 10 days I'm getting home by plane. But the bad thing is that I'll switch plane in London. I really hope that they'll leave the airports alone.

BTW, Denmark's next i think, and that's were i live >_<

used:) 07-23-2005 09:16 AM

I havce a feeling they're going to strike the Netherlands, thats where the Hague is.

T-nex 07-23-2005 09:36 AM

Well the stupid prime-minister agreed to help Bush, so they are gonna strike Denmark too. I hope they'll fail doing so.

Al the Vykker 07-23-2005 10:43 AM

On a kind of scary note. About fifteen minutes ago I heard the loudest rumbling in the sky ever. I looked out the back window and I saw 25 old bomber planes flying really fast all next to each other in formation flying over the town fairly high but still clearly visible. From what my dad told me since he saw them on the road they looked like they were World War 2 planes. Whether replicas or not I'm sure but it scared the crap out of me at first because they did look like bombers, more likely though they were just doing a test flight or something but still weird none the less.

They did claim that Denmark was next, but it's anyone's guess really. I shouldn't worry about airports, there haven't been any major hijackins since 9/11 and think about it, all those checks and police with motherfunking huge SMGs arn't for nothing.

You almost make it sound like the second you land in the UK you'll blow up. Try living here...

T-nex 07-23-2005 10:59 AM

Yea well, I'm very nervous about these things... :-s Sorry that i made such a big deal out of it.

Hobo 07-23-2005 11:26 AM

No worries, i was a bit harsh.

Anyway...

used:) 07-23-2005 01:39 PM

Anyway...what happens if they attack a country like Luxembourg or Romania? One of those really tiny countries. I still think a neutral country is next though.

Oh I've had numerous scares like that. Sometimes I've heard rumbling, really scarily loud noises, shit like that. I've been fearful that it's the apocalypse on over 10 occasions now.

One time I heard this awful rumbling like all the buildings in my street were collapsing, and when I looked outside there was this vintage steamroller going down the road, even tooting it's little whistle. :D

Usually it turns out to be trucks going down the street though.

AquaticAmbi 07-23-2005 06:48 PM

Hah, all your stories remind me of when I was little and had no knowledge of people playing their music unreasonably loud in their cars with the bass booming and such. Whenever I heard the boomy sounds, I thought it was a giant walking around... I get so scared...

What did Denmark's Prime Minister agree to help Bush with? Is Denmark sending troops to Iraq or something?

used:) 07-23-2005 09:32 PM

Most of europe is helping Bush. But I heard Italy is pulling back its military this fall.

Man Killed in London Not Linked to Blasts

Damn, people are idiots...

Al the Vykker 07-23-2005 11:23 PM

That is really depressing. =/

Facsimile 07-24-2005 02:48 AM

Holy crap. That's terrible. If they had him pinned you would think that they would just handcuff him or something. It's not like he was in any position of power being pinned to the floor by multiple cops.

Godlesswanderer 07-24-2005 03:25 AM

I think they thought he had a bomb strapped around himself and any pressure could set it off. Don't ask me why they pinned him though.

I don't mean to sound inconsiderate but it was kind of his fault for getting shot. Firstly, he jumped over the ticket barrier with no intention to get a ticket. He then ran to the platform and ignored the police when they told him to stop and get down on the ground. He then broke into a sprint and tried to get on the train. Leaving the armed police no choice but to shoot who they thought was a potential suicide bomber.

Hobo 07-24-2005 03:53 AM

They pinned him because he tripped and they then shot him because they didn't want to risk him being a suicide bomber, it's one life against several hundred including your own. I'd rather they shot one innocent than played with the chance of 100 people's lives. And if they hadn't shot him, then the press would have had a field day with 'Police had bomber in his gunsights' and all that. I for one am glad that they chose to act this way, while being saddened that an innocent life was lost, it was his own bloody fault for not stopping.

Jacob 07-24-2005 09:01 AM

I agree with Hobo, i'm of the sort of mindset that the ends justify the means. And even though he wasn't an actual danger, i'd much rather the Police go on the assumption somebody is a danger and make a mistake, than go on the assumption they're not and have 100's of people wounded and killed.

used:) 07-24-2005 09:27 AM

I see what you mean. Although it isn't great they killed an innocent man, what would have happened if he did have bobs strapped on to him?

Dino 07-24-2005 09:46 AM

I agree. The guy was basically asking for it. Had it have been any normal day then I would say that he didn't deserve it but considering the current climate in London, it's a pretty stupid thing to be doing.

MojoMan220 07-24-2005 10:53 AM

For God's sakes people, he was being chased by plainclothes officers! What the Hell would you have done if you were being chased by a group of intimdating men with guns? He wasn't asking for, he did what any of us would have done in that kind of situation.

I can't believe you guys are so willing to give up your freedoms. Fear makes people do stupid things.

Esus 07-24-2005 10:59 AM

Yeah, I'm sure the police didn't tell him they were police or anything.

MojoMan220 07-24-2005 11:12 AM

:

Yeah, I'm sure the police didn't tell him they were police or anything.

That's rather presumptuous of you. Even if they did say it, one half of people in that situation would probably stop, the other half would probably keep running.
