well here is my theory:
OWI used the term "bear trap" in the E3 video so everybody knew what it was all about (not everybody knows what a scrab is) but in "reality" it's a Scrab trap (I have the impression I posted this twice) |
:
Very funny! I was thinking, "Pfft, bears on Oddworld.........Outrageous I tell you!" |
Are you guys talking about the traps that caught the fuzzles???
|
yes, LFs right, if they're "Scrab Traps" why did they show fuzzles getting caught in them on the manogram monitor?
|
Since fuzzles are basically lab rats, I'm sure the vykkers have plenty of them and don't need to catch them because they could just breed more. The cages they are in are different than the scrab trap.
Because of the nature of the scrab trap, I assume it was used by oddworld hunters to catch scrabs to eat. The vykkers employ it to catch whatever they can or want to perform "scienctific" expirements on. The recorded sounds it makes (to attract Munch) and sonar pings could probably be changed to attract any oddoworldian creature, but most likely larger ones so that the trap wouldn't just kill them. As for why it showed a fuzzle... probably because they are simple to animate? |
:
|
Maybe there are smaller traps for the Fuzzles, and the Vykkers just get too carried away in their entertainment and work.
|
Maybe we aren't supposed to think to deep into this, but I can't help it! :crying:
I think it would have been smarter to make a sonar beacon robot, but Vykkers aren't big on the whole smart thing! :D |
But building a robot wouldn't involve hacking an innocent creature's head open while unaesthetised.
|
That sure would take the fun out of the whole thing huh?! And then Munch wouldn't be as cool as he is! :D
|
I don't think that Vykkers are too smart, why did they think they could rely on Munch to bring them little Critters? I mean, gabbits aren't evil.
|
Neither are Vykkers, Glukkons or Sligs. They just have different values to the more native races, and they themselves have got to pay the taxes. Oddworld is all about blurring the lines between who is 'good' and who is 'evil', and it rather saddens me you didn't get this...
|
No, I just meant that Vykkers are really dumb if they think that after they just cut open something, they expect it to do their bidding!
|
gee, I haven't been on in a while.
I read earlier in the Q&A that the reason that munch can open fuzzle traps was because the vykkers wanted him to go out and get the fuzzles frop the traps, which makes sense. BUT: a) I think I read somewhere that the fuzzles are a species created by the vykkers to do testing on. If that is true, there would be no wild fuzzles for munch to get. Also, where do the fuzzles go after munch sends them through a rescue portal? b) Munch's head-port is a sonar. That's what Humphrey calls it. So why can it zap people as well? Doesn't it work properly? I guess the Vykkers beleive in quality control like the Glukkons do. What do you think? |

I think that the Mudokons may have created a few places to create Fuzzle portals so they can re-educate them to become wild animals(?). That's my rotten theory.
Whenever Munch zaps, a pair of prongs (Like the ones inside a lightbulb) slip out of openings on the sides of the headport. I suppose that the prongs use raw electricity to zap people as well as open fuzzle cages. The Zap drink reaction may occur because Munch's headport is deeply imbedded in his brain. The nutrients go to the brain quickly (and that's as far as I got. Stimulants, maybe)
I hope that might help. If anyone has a different opinion, by all means: share it. |
Oh Fuzzles are totally wild and natural creatures. You're thinking of Fleeches. They are natural creatures, according to Alf, but they are also created by the Vykkers. Best theory is, the Vykkers take them from the wild and genetically alter them. One theory is that in their natural form, Fleeches are very similar to the Fuzzles, because of their concept art.
|
Yeah, I always thought like Max said, that fuzzles were wild, and then the Vykkers catch them and convert them into mutant fuzzles! Kinda like what they were doing to Munch with his sonar... don't forget the Vykkers were still working on him until he escaped so who knows what he is capable of with his unrefined and therefore multipurpose sonar!

i could beleive fuzzles were transformed into fleeches if they still looked like their prod art....
http://oddworld.com/universe/wildlif..._bio_right.jpg those look more like fuzzles, but the worms dont look a bit similar to fuzzles, itd make more sense if they stayed the way in the picture. |
That picture is the basis for a couple of theories. The first is that the Fleech design changed, but the Fuzzle design evolved from those blob-like things. The other, in-universe one is that Fuzzles, in their natural form, do look like that, but then are captured and genetically fiddled with. Their similar to Fuzzles would indicate that they are related in some way.
But then it's all theories, not that they're bad. |
I've read a few pages of this thread (2 and a half) but I'm not patient enough to read it all, so one of my questions might be asked already... Just so ya'll know.
1. Who is Lulu? (I never played Munch's Oddysee) 2. Where did Mullock went after he got zapped in Abe's Oddysee? 3. Why can't Abe get a date? (Sorry, I just *had* to make a joke, no answer needed :D) 4. How would Scrabs react if they see a Paramite, and vice versa? (Maybe you see this in Munch's Oddysee as well, but yet again, never played it.) EDITED: Another question. 5. In some screenies of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, I see Elum in some sort of Elum Trap. Where are those things? I never saw one... And I am sure the picture was 2D! |
1. Lulu is an incompetant Glukkon who'd rather lounge about, sleep and read girly magazines than do any work. He's the butt of Glukkon jokes, because he isn't a killer in the market like they are. Abe and Munch use him to get into Vykkers Labs, but don't think he doesn't enjoy the high life and destroying the environment. He has exactly the same ideals as any other Glukkon, except he lacks work ethic and intelligence.
2. Unknown. He's been hiding from the Magog Cartel. He's in trouble because he let Abe escape and wreak havoc, plus he has to pay for the destruction of RuptureFarms. What's more, since Maggie has to pay if he doesn't show up, she's furious and will have him shot as soon as they find him. See, there's a massive search for Molluck, who's been laying low, pretending to be dead. If rumours are true, he's hiding underground (metaphorically speaking), and has links with the Oddworld Mafia. 4. They'd fight each other to the death. Obviously the Scrab would win more often than not, but the Paramite would put up one hell of a barney. We would have seen massive hoedowns in MO as herds of Scrabs and Paramites collided, but that was left out of the game. 5. Yep, that's an Elum Trap, a device RuptureFarms uses to capture Elums. They were pretty much replaced with honey. Notice in one image it shows Abe actually pushing against the Elum in a trap as he would against a wall. The picture was in 2D, because AO is a 2D game. :p |
How do you put a banner on the signiture?
|

You can insert images by using the following: Alcar... |

In AE/AO, sometimes there are muds on the screen beyond with either bone drills or sensors hindering the path. If you tell the muds to follow you and run a few previous screens, you will not get the mud shredded/noticed if you can't see it happen? This has really ruined a lot of the harder bone drill puzzles in AE for me.
|
Why is Alcar a tightarse, and he won't give me links to pictures of the new game with no bullshit theories?

It looks awesome! I can't even see any old species in it.
I might have to start coming into General Discussion. Scary thought. Tell me, how often are new pictures released? |
well there was one BIG wave of pictures and videos and now nothing anymore
