It does look like 1.4 to me. Or maybe it's a lucky coincidence

It's worth noting that on OWI's official update on the picture / audio progress on their site, when referring to the audio investigation progress specifically they link to Manco's post here: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showpo...&postcount=152 Where he reversed and deciphered the transcript I uploaded. If they're endorsing that post, that looks like it's the closest we've got so far. Perhaps we are just one cipher away; the question is, which is it? Perhaps one that needs the word "You" as a key?

I wonder how many casual visitors will immediately be put off by the ironic avatar
senpai noticed me Glad to know we’re on the right track. Ciphers aren’t my specialty though, and none of the clues we have are obviously pointing to a certain cipher method that I can see. Of course, it’s probably easy to figure out if we can find the right way to look at it…

Trying to work out the cleanest transcript of the morse code; I’ve had a look at mattb150’s cleaned-up and reversed spectrograph, here’s what I got:

Another thought, the fact they've added a functioning 404 page to the 1029.io site, instead of having it just redirecting you to the homepage, could perhaps mean that there are new URL's to be found on there.

I tried URL's that combine the "12" and "20" from the source code, hoping I'd find a page with a hint to a cipher or something. No luck. Things like 1029.io/1220 or 2012. I wonder how those numbers fit in.

Also, OWI just favorited my tweet about deciphering the morse, so pretty much certain there's another layer of encryption on the morse.

I think it’s a little early to be looking at the 1029.io site – that will probably become relevant soon, but not until we find a clue that points to it I think.

UPD: they are running outdated wordpress with custom login
4.0.12 version

Heya sk8erbender, please don't try to bend the rules and play the game in an other way than it's supposed to be.

We're all very passionate about this and want to see where it is leading but let's not ruin the path Oddworld Inhabitants worked hard to draw for us to follow.

DreadfulDrummer 01-20-2017 01:00 PM

A lot of those morse code clips seem littered with noise so this is my attempt at isolating the signal.
I used mlg man's attempt at isolating it, which was the best I had heard at the time.

Sorry if this has been posted before, I scanned the thread and couldn't find mention of it.

The www.1029.io site features a number of glitches that appear to be flashing in morse code (top two lines, 'ignite a revolution', 'There's a storm coming'), but i haven't managed to figure them out yet.

There are also some highlighted letters/words throughout the page (SPIRIT OF 1029, highlight on emblem, E, T, N, HE HAS LIT A FIRE IN OUR HEARTS, O, JOIN US).

Perhaps figuring out the morse code sequences and adding in the highlighted letters in reading order will give us a sequence?

Connell 01-20-2017 01:05 PM

Yeah - I've been trying every cipher under the sun and heavily focusing on that small segment "AJNWSNRPGSPC" that repeats itself, if we can get something concrete from that it'd be a good start. I think Mattb's transcript is the most spot on because my pal did say that with his, the start and end might be a bit wrong but he was sure of the middle, and the only place the two differ is at the start and end, so I'd say that the one you did:

:

()
PDQJNYAJNWSNRPGSPCSPPMQIDIMQYMDBCQAJNWSNRPGSPCDHBZMNJAJUNADUM

Is our definitive transcription of the reversed morse. And OWI seem to have given their blessing that that's right so far by linking to your previous post. So the question is, which cipher do we need now? Is there a clue towards it, or is it a guessing game until we get it? I've tried so many and I'm at a loss for now.

EDIT: SHIT SOMEONE SOLVED IT! So by "YOU" they meant the "STORM" . We are the storm! Shit I swear I put YOU in as the keyword on a cipher so many times and didn't get anything haha.

Dead Meat 01-20-2017 01:08 PM

I tried typing it as a URL but it was a broken link, any ideas?

(I'm new here, but I have been a fan off OWI my whole life, be gentle)

Connell 01-20-2017 01:11 PM

I don't think our transcript is quite right. He came up with:

SPTORY FORWARDSLASH ASSET NINETY EIGHT FORWARDSLASH WMG ZERO OF WURFI

There must be a few errors from the morse translation

So now we know AJNWSNRPGSPC means FOWARDSLASH haha :)

Something along these lines: http://www.oddworld.com/soulstorm/asset98/1029

mattb150 01-20-2017 01:12 PM

I have tried, to no avail:

1029.io/asset98/
1029.io/asset98/img045
1029.io/assetninetyeight/
1029.io/assetninetyeight/img045

Yeah, I really struggled trying to hear the start and the end, clear as day in the middle.
Check the version I've isolated: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B20...ew?usp=sharing

Gunnr 01-20-2017 01:18 PM

I got sitoryforwardslashassetninetyeightforwardslashimgzerofourfiue on that decipher site

Also welcome newcomer

Connell 01-20-2017 01:18 PM

So that guy that cracked it on Twitter used my friend's version of the transcript, whereas using Matt's returns this from the same site he used:

sitory forwardslash assetninetyeight forwardslash imgzerofourfiue

Which must be SITORY/ASSET98/IMG045

Slightly more tangible, but

http://www.oddworld.com/soulstorm/asset98/img045

Still no dice

E: I think the bit holding us back is "sitory" at the start. I don't think that's right

Hm it looks like imgzerofourfiue is supposed to be imgzerofourFIVE if you replaced the "u" for "v"

What could sitory really be?

ugh just refreshed.
nevermind ill add in of i have something useful to say...

Edit: Went through the morse entirely to come up with a ciphertext based on the image alone

Taking a good hard look at the morse image (https://i.imgur.com/LdpiiaH.png), I think the (mostly) correct ciphertext is
:

qmiqwmiqyidimrjqdjijilmxmnrjqdjajmpmnrprspkesmkjpdqjnyajnwsnrpgspcsppmqidimqymdbcqajnwsnrpgspcdhbzmnjajanadumjimrpq
Using this as ciphertext at http://www.braingle.com/brainteasers/codes/keyword.php with key storm decodes to
:

tentwentyninedotiononqexerdotiofoeserdsdaspjaepositoryforwardslashassetninetyeightforwardslashimgzerofofrfiueonedst

ten twenty nine dot io nonqexer dot io foeserdsdaspjaepository forwardslash asset ninety eight forward slash img zero fofrfiueonedst

Parts of the morse are very hard to read but it appears another url is in here?

So were looking at http://1029.io/asset98/img045 realistically then. Still returns nothing. Nor does http://1029.io/asset98/img045.jpg

http://www.oddworld.com/soulstorm/10...t98/img045.jpg Not working either

Repository?

Varrok 01-20-2017 01:35 PM

Don't you find it strange there's no forward slash between 1029 and asset98?

I do.
But there is something odd about the fact that the "sitoryforwardslash" part doesn't appear on mattb150's deciphering, but tentwentynine does

Yeah, I tried http://www.oddworld.com/soulstorm/1029asset98/img045 but that didn't work either. They're usually quite precise when they give us these URL's. I find it a bit strange there's no .jpg on the end either

Repository?

Note that http://1029.io/repository/asset98/ does NOT return the 404 page... adding img045 does, however and there's not much else on which to go!:fuzconf:

Edit: and adding anything else, spelling it differently, asset97 or asset99 returns the 404 page

Oh, now that's a good lead, perhaps there's a few errors at the end of the URL Then, perhaps another number after img045?

Welcome! And very well done on finding the cipher keyword :D Welcome to the forums

Connell 01-20-2017 01:49 PM

Something quite important actually, early on in the ARG, 0451.jpg was an image used. Perhaps there's meant to be a 1 on the end? Here's the old image: http://oddworld.com/soulstorm/0451.jpg

E: Whoops double post

I've gotta run but good luck guys

Only putting "/repository" at the end also outputs a blank page.

Yeah, I had started with that and didn't see the 404 and nearly jumped out my chair before adding /asset98... at which point I did jump and that's as far as I've gotten :fuzsad:

Manco 01-20-2017 01:54 PM

The URL we are looking for is definitely:

1029.io/repository/asset98/img045[something].[something]

I don’t know what the missing number or extension is, I’ve tried 0450 – 0459 .jpg and .png with no results.

I can’t decode the missing piece into something legible either, it’s too distorted.
