Unfortunately, I think that's the only official art that's been released.

abe is now! 08-06-2014 11:41 AM

I mean that perhaps in Monsaic Lines it's possible to sight some meeches statue/ruins.

HOMINIX 08-06-2014 11:55 AM

Oh, I misunderstood your post. As far as I know there are no such statues.

Shrykull69 08-07-2014 08:43 AM

That's true, there is not any statue in Mosaic Lines, or any hand stone message that mackes mention to Meeches.

MeechMunchie 08-07-2014 01:27 PM

The only reference we have to Mudokons honouring Meeches is from Dear Alf, which is notoriously unreliable.

My vague memory is that Alf specifically stated that Muds did not worship Fleeces, in spite of popular fantheory.

Ok here's an easy question why didn't Elum Chubs posters appear in the corridor where Abe was working at the beginning of AO?

Strnadik 08-08-2014 01:35 AM

Can I have a question too? Yesterday, during Caddy's livestream, I saw a few non-oddworld pictures on the employee board. Is that way to advertise other games? I took a picture of one of the cases :

RuptureFarms had ran out of the colors they needed to print those posters last time they decorated that corridor.

Short answer: It's cross-promotional material in support of some great indie devs we're friends with.

Long answer: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=21697

How long was NnT's exclusivity deal with Sony? One month, am I remembering it correctly? Will we know PC release date soon after that?

Wil 08-08-2014 02:19 AM

30-day console exclusive. Doesn't cover PC. We could have released PC before for all they cared, but the PC version takes longer because it has to work on any configuration of PC, plus have a whole bunch of extra features.

You won't know the release date soon. We won't know the release date soon. We've got a few rough estimates, but declaring estimates is always tricky because people take it as an expectation.

Varrok 08-08-2014 03:14 AM

But it's Unity. It's supposed to be easily converted to other platforms. Especially PC. And Unity is like, extra compatible with like, any PC.

Holy Sock 08-08-2014 03:32 AM

Yeah, Wil.

But seriously, Varrok, it may be easier but, with a 17 man team or so, porting games can be quite time consuming.

Wil 08-08-2014 03:46 AM

It is easier. In a lot of ways. But it won't magically know what assets to pick for which graphics settings, and it can't auto-generate the art and design for a keybinding menu. Those are just examples, there's more than that. Easier doesn't mean there's no work to do.

Varrok 08-08-2014 03:57 AM

Seems legit.

Just don't Munch this, take your time.

Job McYossie 08-08-2014 04:37 AM

For the love of everything don't Munch this. A simple Unity port could take next to no time, but a good port that is optimized might not.

Holy Sock 08-08-2014 05:04 AM

JAW didn't really do the Munch port, though. You should say don't Stranger this.

Manco 08-08-2014 06:27 AM

I don’t think that’s even applicable here, because there’s a huge difference between the circumstances of the Stranger port and the NnT port.

Holy Sock 08-08-2014 06:44 AM

Indeed, Manco.

That area seems to be a circular corridor around the boardroom, maybe he'd just already walked the the poster that shows Elum Chubs? I guess we'll never know.

Holy Sock 08-29-2014 12:54 PM

Just wondering if anyone knows why the wheelchair was chosen as a vehicle for Munch?

MeechMunchie 08-29-2014 01:13 PM

Because his leg is broken and he can't walk?

Varrok 08-29-2014 01:20 PM

Holy Sock is discriminating handicapped people. Not wonderful

Holy Sock 08-29-2014 01:39 PM

I know it's broken in the original concept art but it's certainly not in the main game. I guess the concept just carried over?

Was just wondering since someone I know, whose mother is in a wheelchair, was questioning the concept when he saw me playing Munch HD.

MeechMunchie 08-29-2014 02:36 PM

There's also the point that Munch is adapted for life at sea, and the wheels let him move faster than he could otherwise. The wheelchair itself is a reminder that he's fleeing from a bunch of mad doctors, as well as being quite a recognisable, empathetic image for the audience.

Holy Sock 08-29-2014 02:42 PM

Those were my reckons. But they didn't seem to satisfy what was considered the (his self-admitted not too logical but more emotional feelings) seemingly trivialisation of the need for a wheelchair. Considering his mother being wheelchair dependent created a very difficult strain on his family growing up.

So I was wondering if there was a direct quote from the MO dev team on the matter.

It wasn't a serious issue but just a little conversation we had and I said I'd consult the experts!

MeechMunchie 08-29-2014 04:11 PM

I'm tired right now, but I expect the "Munch: The Heart" and "Munch's Oddysee" sections of TFTY have some design quotes on his wheelchair.
