I just want to point out if I can't have a non-pony avatar anymore, I'm not having one at all. Yeah! take that!

That’s just a transparent avatar, you poser. Real hipsters use the ‘do not use an avatar’ option.

Varrok 05-24-2012 09:34 AM

Crashpunk's got a ninja pony avatar now

Sekto Springs 05-24-2012 09:38 AM

Crashpunk is a little bitch.

Yeah. There's a pony there, we just can't see it.

I don't really like ponies here either. I've just kind of accepted that they're still gonna hang around for a while, but it's depressing 'cause I used to feel this is the only site I could go to to get away from the sparkly little bastards.

Another forum I go to actually banned pony gifs from being posted in non-pony threads, since it always caused such an uproar.

T-nex 05-24-2012 10:53 AM

I wonder how ponies could really cause such an uproar... I suppose this may be art shifted in a new directions. New directions always cause uproars. Kind of like Modernism.

OddjobAbe 05-24-2012 10:57 AM

I have not seen the cartoon in question, but I am severely sceptical that an animated children's programme centred around talking ponies emobodies new artistic horizons. I am also very sceptical of the comparison to modernism, to the point where I think you may have been joking.

I don't mind the occasional Pony gif or picture, but this is a whole other level.

Sekto Springs 05-24-2012 11:00 AM

Ponies cause an uproar because people want it to. All I did was change my avatar, it was everyone else who followed in tow that made it into a big deal.

Nepsotic 05-24-2012 11:12 AM

I watched it. As horrific as it is for me to watch, its... Strangely addicting...

OddjobAbe 05-24-2012 11:15 AM

What does it addict you to?

I may have been a bit too ambiguous... but yes it was a joke.

I agree... Each and every episode I watched enraged me so. I couldn't take the overly sweetness off the show, and the lack of consequences of their stupid actions.
I also didn't like how that episode with their 'halloween' and Princess Luna ended... She simply accepted her fate of being a feared icon just because people find it fun :( What if SHE wants to have fun? HM? Did anyone ever think about HER feelings?!?!? Fuck... Im getting all emotional here.

The pinkage and furryness.

And I agree with "Nexy', the show just seemed too... Surreal.

Pinkage and furryness keeps me watching though.

Sekto Springs 05-24-2012 11:36 AM

MLP is on the same level as Powerpuff Girls or Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends in quality. That is to say, it's just a decent cartoon, but a decent cartoon seems pretty amazing when stacked up against the expectations everyone has for a show that's supposed to be for little girls.

Lauren Faust's philosophy is that just because a show is for kids, doesn't mean it has to be vacuous and dull. Because My Little Pony has a long-standing reputation stemming from previous generations of the show, people make the assumption the new gen must be just as insipid as it's predecessors. In fact, it's the other way around.

As for Luna, if it makes you feel any better, the other ponies have a lot more respect for her in later episodes. :P

Nepsotic 05-24-2012 11:43 AM

Powerpuff girls doesn't have enough pinkage and furryness though. I used to like Imaginary Friends though.

I think it’s funny how you expected this much from a cartoon about ponies.

... Hmm...

Sekto Springs 05-24-2012 11:57 AM

Again, it is still a kid's show. Networks wouldn't be able to legitimize it's syndication if they didn't shoehorn in a moral and make sure the circumstances were "reset" at the end of each episode. Even adult cartoons like Family Guy are required to do that on some level.

Though there is an unresolved quarrel with the new villain that made her debut in the season 2 finale, so there's a lot of speculation that season 3 will have an over arcing storyline involving her. If that's the case, the show's focus will be shifted from "what did we learn today" to "good versus evil".

sheridanm962 05-24-2012 12:00 PM

Oh for fuck sake. The worst part about Bronies existing is when they start quoting from the show itself just to prove a weird and creepy point over which pony they want to fuck the most.

Happy clopping.

T-nex 05-24-2012 12:01 PM

I havent seen anyone here do that.

STM 05-24-2012 12:03 PM

I haven't heard anyone do that at all let alone here...well, two people, but they were doing it as a joke...

sheridanm962 05-24-2012 12:03 PM

Well.. If they do please kill me.

Varrok 05-24-2012 12:03 PM

And of course we all fall into this stereotype you have created simply because of the pixels in our forum avatars.

See, it's comments like this that convince me that Bronies aren't the problem; it's everyone else.
