JennyGenesis once bought a golf game because he heard there was driving in it.

There's no driving.

I'm aware of that, I first bought the game on the PC after playing the PSX version at my cousin's house.

Yeah, driving that golf caddy was fun!

Holy shit, Binary Domain is fun. It's like they took the solid cover mechanics of Gears of War, rinsed the boring grimdark off, added the crazy giant robot battling fun of Vanquish, gave the game a Terminator story that isn't terrible, added the more alarmingly-frank and graphic brutality of Japanese R-rated action, crime and horror films, and then basically gave the whole thing a cast and dub that resembles some sort of hilarious hybrid of Uncharted with Resident Evil.

Basically, you are Dan, part of an international anti-illegal-robotics team called a Rust Crew. Along with a huge black man named Big Bro, a smarmy British cunt named Charles and his quiet demolitions expert lady Ms. Townsend, a sexy Chinese sniper named Faye, and a chivalrous French combat robot named Cain, you are infiltrating the isolationist walled city of future Tokyo to find out who has been building a bunch of human-mimicking robots called Hollow Children, who disturbingly even think they themselves are human. So far it's been an incredibly fun romp, and it has this odd little Trust system that basically rates your responses and performance in battle to decide if Teammates like you enough or not to follow your orders and stuff. So if you accidentally toss a grenade near your allies, fail to kill a sniper after shooting at it for ten minutes, or ignore their requests to cover them, they'll basically tell you to go fuck yourself if you want them to do something. It affects the plot as well apparently. You can even use Kinect if you want.

I really like it.

Sup.

Mr. Bungle 03-02-2012 07:21 AM

Not me.

Does anyone here play Starcraft 2 online at all? If so, we should totally play.

Me did read most of it, sir. But I've wanted the game for awhile. I was worried it was some kind of buttfuck RPG.

MeechMunchie 03-02-2012 01:41 PM

I played the demo for Rayman Origins. It was okay. Nothing spectacular. I'll see if I can get my brother/sister on it later.

Phylum 03-02-2012 02:09 PM

It's no Super Meat Boy, but I'd still recommend it. The controls take some getting used to, but when you do it's a lot of fun.

It's not as hard as you'd expect, especially in the early levels. The last world was challenging, but I was never tearing my hair out. The Time Trials and Lum Collection is really tough and gives lot of replay value. It's a pity that it's so tedious to go back through every level 10 times looking for a few more lums.

It's not everyone's thing, but I really enjoyed it and strongly recommend it.

OANST 03-02-2012 02:11 PM

I really can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't do it for me. There were too many collectibles for one thing. I like collecting in games. I think it adds a lot of replay value, but when developers get stupid with it, I start to feel overwhelmed, and just don't even want to try.

Hazel-Rah 03-02-2012 03:57 PM

I'm playing Rayman 3 right now, I got up to the Horrible Machine boss today and rage quit after about three tries.

MeechMunchie 03-02-2012 04:04 PM

You need to charge your shots and use strafe/lock. That's all the help I can give.

Nah, there's nanomachine upgrades and gun upgrades, but you can run-and-gun through most of it.

Also a GIANT FUCKING MOTOCYCLE ROBOT

he tries to land his steam-roll-sized front wheel on your van.

Jordan 03-03-2012 01:31 AM

I'm playing Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy for the PSP/Vita. Miles better than the first, I can't see myself ever going back to play that to be honest. Plus, the story flows better and you get a better chance to try out each character.
Also replaying Tales of Symphonia for the umpteenth time because it's awesome. However, I'm starting to realise some of its poorer qualities such as the script. It's not brilliant, but the start of the game is generally average anyway.

Strike Witch 03-03-2012 04:08 AM

Finished Binary Domain, though it has a branching path type dealie with different endings, so I can always go again.

Great game, tops ending.

Dynamithix 03-03-2012 04:57 AM

Unlocked all the characters in SSX except for Griff and now just playing in Explore mode with 'em.

To be honest, the story mode is pretty damn boring because you can't exactly choose what to do in it and what not, you just have to do the Survival events of each of the mountains with different characters.

MeechMunchie 03-04-2012 05:25 AM

I don't know if anyone here likes interactive fiction, but this one is quite good.

Dynamithix 03-05-2012 12:24 PM

I borrowed my friend Dark Souls because he wanted to try it out and he gave me Modern Warfare 3 in return so I've been playing this for a sum of 6 hours now and uhh, are the multiplayer maps supposed to be this bad or what? Needless to say I wasn't even interested in the multiplayer.

To be honest, so far I'm kind of liking the campaign. It's easy as hell and dumb, but it's pretty fun. I also like the Spec Ops survival mode where there are waves of enemies coming at you. It's pretty neat. Other than that, this game is really unimaginative and bland.

Phylum 03-05-2012 09:07 PM

My level 20 wizard died in ROTMG so I'm taking a break for a while. Fuck, that game can be annoying.

I managed to get Quake 2 working on my new computer with kmquake2. The bloom effect and 16xAA makes it look really nice for a game from '97. Also,, the particle engine seems to have been rewritten.

Crashpunk 03-06-2012 08:50 AM

Still playing Skyward Sword. Why do Zelda games take so long to complete!

I've seen Spiral Knights has got some new DLC so I might play that soon. it's been a while since I played that game.

MeechMunchie 03-07-2012 03:13 PM

Stacking.

It's good. Not Psychonauts good, but still good. Reminds me of Hitman. I like open levels.

Mr. Bungle 03-07-2012 04:34 PM

I played the demo, and just couldn't get into it. Didn't seem like much fun at all.

Nate 03-07-2012 08:07 PM

I played one and a half levels of the actual game on PE3 and just couldn't get in to it. Leaving aside the fact that the bouncing camera gave me motion sickness, it just felt like a trudge of completing dull tasks rather than exploring a world and meeting characters. Everything was just a bit too one-dimensional for my liking.

MeechMunchie 03-07-2012 11:29 PM

It's got a character called Albert in it. That was all it took for me.

Manco 03-08-2012 12:31 AM

I am very annoyed with Persona 4 at the moment. I’ve been making good progress through a dungeon up until now, when I died twice in a row under different stupid circumstances.

First, an enemy used its self-destruct attack which was somehow strong enough to take the player character’s health down to zero (in P4, you control the player character, and if he dies you have to reload your last save, regardless of the rest of your team’s health). So I lost two dungeon floors worth of progress. A bit frustrating but no biggie, right?

Well then after clawing back all my work I died on the same floor because I managed to use a group attack on four enemies who all were resistant to that attack, so it got reflected back at me four times over.

This is made worse because of how the save system works. There’s no automatic saves, and you have to leave or complete a dungeon to reach a save point.

Hazel-Rah 03-08-2012 08:04 AM

I finished Rayman 3 it was pretty fucking baller Reflux was a God of War caliber last boss! I liked the power-ups, my favorite was the rocket arm, I've been playing the shit out of that mini-game lately.

I also started Rayman 2, the PS1 version, I quite like the voice acting in it so far IDK.

OANST 03-08-2012 08:10 AM

I finally made myself finish Gears of War 3 the other day. God, what a boring fucking game. I don't remember anything I did in it. I know I shot some stuff.

The multiplayer is fun, though.

Crashpunk 03-08-2012 08:34 AM

After 66 hours, I have just completed Zelda: Skyward Sword
Amazing ending. The final Boss was really really fun (Quite easy if i'm honest) I won't give any spoliers because you've got to play it.

Overall, I think it is on par with Twilight Princess as the Best Zelda game (that's my opinion). Despite it's floors. It is one of the best games I've played. It is definitely the best Wii game.

I also started hero mode and lost the save file so that means I can't go back and complete the side-quests :(

OANST 03-08-2012 08:41 AM

I'm going to get around to playing that eventually. I hope it gets close to as good as Wind Waker was.

Crashpunk 03-08-2012 10:54 AM

I can guarantee it does. The only thing I find off-putting is what I said before that the control are very annoying at times.
