CAR NERD RANT!

What pisses me off?

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_UZImdYAiry.../chevrolet.jpg

All seems to be rebadged Daewoo's and tat these days, only decent offering is the Corvette...

Though I feel as if only me and Pilot will understand this. This forum has too many gays and not enough car nerds!

You fucking prius! Chevy's are good! Well, the old ones are.

Ridg3 08-24-2011 02:37 PM

Are cars those things that get you from A to B in a considerably quickish fashion? If it is, I don't see how I can be nerdy over it.

But for those caught up in the mainstream, you will be more familiar with this Camaro SS

Good that Chevrolet could actually make these toys for kids on the regular Camaro production line...

EDIT: Just seconds after posting this a Chevrolet advert came on TV.

My friend Kate designed the airconditioning system for the new Camaro. She was driving one around Melbourne even before they were available in the US.

Nepsotic 08-24-2011 07:27 PM

Does she work there?

Maybe this is a stupid question to ask.

But was it an SS model or was it one of the crappy V6's?

Nepsotic 08-25-2011 03:38 AM

I reckon we should make a car thread...

She works for Holden, which is GM's Australian subsidiary.

NFI. It was a hand built test model, so I'm guessing they didn't go overboard with the flashness.

Holden Monaro VXR! I love that car!

I find it rather odd that your friend works for Holden and she ends up doing work for Chevy.

Phylum 08-25-2011 02:55 PM

In working for Holden she works for General Motors, so it really isn't that odd.

JennyGenesis 08-25-2011 03:01 PM

It's a bit like working for Cadbury and making cheese in my eyes...

Phylum 08-25-2011 04:15 PM

It would be like that if Cadbury was owned by a company that also owned a cheese maker.

Although chocolate and cheese are a different matter to car parts and car parts.

She doesn't work for GM; she works for Holden. They're both subsidiaries. And they often contract out parts of the design process to other subsidiaries.
