Good enough an answer for me!

Your father is a fucking idiot.

You only think that because you've been watching your Scottish, lefty, pseudo-free media. If you'd been watching the real news out of Russia, then you'd feel differently.

Which is not to say that the Russian news is correct; just that the ability to hold logical opinions is dependant on access to good information. It's impossible to reach a truly logical conclusion if your axioms are false.

Wings of Fire 03-10-2011 03:17 AM

Give me one good reason why I should trust Putin's press over the BBC?

Bullet Magnet 03-10-2011 03:28 AM

Bigger nose.

Wings of Fire 03-10-2011 03:35 AM

I like how there's a picture of Putin on Gaddafi, Muburak and Berlusconi's wikipedia pages.

Not that it means a thing, but still amusing.

Read the tiny smaller text. I'm not saying that you should trust the Russian press. Just that criticising metroixer's dad for trusting a news source that he believes is reliable is kind of a dick move.

Feel free to criticise the Russian press all you like.

Wings of Fire 03-10-2011 04:14 AM

Oh, right.

Sorry Metroixer.

In related news, France recognizes the rebels as Libya's legitimate government.

Bullet Magnet 03-10-2011 05:31 AM

Why exactly did we let the French stand up for right first?

Wings of Fire 03-10-2011 06:10 AM

Because our prime minister is incapable of making any sudden decisions which don't involve taxing the poor?

ziggy 03-10-2011 06:42 AM

I am so oblivious to politics that I refrain from having any stance on any matters whatsoever.

What a useful post you made.

So I'm not a hypocrite, if France sees the rebels as the legitimate government, what happens if they lose?

Related: how are the rebels doing so far?

STM 03-10-2011 12:17 PM

Apparently Libyan Loyalists are gaining ground against the freedom fighters, quite a few outlying towns are being regained. France made a bad move declaring rebel group as the government so late in the conflict, the tides are still turning but Royalists seem to be mopping up at the moment.

EDIT: Further info to follow up my previous point, NATO as well as the EU seem to taking a 'League of Nations' role on this one, even the UN is back benching for now.

http://www.voanews.com/english/news/...117748448.html < gives a little insight I feel.

They either backtrack or cease all dealings with Gaddafi, as all the west should have always done.

So many of us support the rebels and revolutionaries in the Middle-East this winter, but the west may still come to reap what we have been sowing for the past 30 years. For too long our position has been "keep the oil flowing and don't interfere with our nations, and you can inflict whatever horrors and injustices upon your own people as you wish".

The rebels and new governments there may remember this. It is not simply outrageous that we have not openly supported these resistances from the start, it is worse that we did not back the people for these past decades as we always should have, just as it is outrageous that we went into Iraq so many years too late.

Wings of Fire 03-17-2011 03:33 PM

This just in: We're finally doing shit.

Too late to go back now. We've chosen a side.

And it took us three weeks longer than Switzerland to do so.

Dixanadu 03-18-2011 04:22 AM

Planes expected to arrive in Libya in a few hours.

Shit's about to go down.

Bullet Magnet 03-18-2011 06:41 AM

Gaddafi's backing down.

All despots are cowards. The moment you show them they're not in charge any more, they cry like a little girl.

STM 03-18-2011 11:02 AM

Phew, no air strikes then, I can't believe America of all countries tried to veto the move. Fucking League of Nations bull shit.

Dixanadu 03-20-2011 01:53 AM

112 missiles fired...

...from teh FRENCH

STM 03-20-2011 01:59 AM

Lordy, the day the French leads an attack against another nation FIRST, is the day that this World goes to pot. Let's hope it works otherwise there's going to be a tactical stalemate.

Ridg3 03-20-2011 03:14 AM

French order of business:

Dixanadu 03-20-2011 01:55 PM

Gadaffi's AA guns can't hit shit. They've been firing for hours and whaddya know...no confirmed hits.

Havoc 03-21-2011 09:11 AM

In other news, a new constitution has been accepted by the people in Egypt.

STM 03-21-2011 10:03 AM

Don't worry Dix, they hit a plain but fortunately it was fucking one of theirs! HAHAHA! Seriously they ground their entire air force and still manage to blow one of their airplanes the fuck up.

Dixanadu 03-21-2011 02:20 PM

Gadaffi just wanted man points.

MA 03-21-2011 04:59 PM

well, you can't exactly miss a plain, anyway. they're just so big and barren.

When your muscle is a bunch of drugged-up hired guns with little to no awareness of what's going on at any given time, I don't expect them to hit anything. Seriously, I've heard them interview one of the "loyalists" on a recent episode of BBC: World Have Your Say, and the guy couldn't speak more than two syllables, much less produce a word per every 10 seconds.

But good news! Last I heard, Kgquadaghffy's "arming the people." What is that, a mandatory draft or something? That's... terrifying.

I thought that was Gaddafi's excuse for the rebels? "They're not really rebelling, Al Qaeda just drugged them!"

Dixanadu 03-24-2011 07:12 AM

The French air force shot down a Libyan plane earlier for 'violating' the no fly zone.

It wasn't military.

STM 03-24-2011 08:57 AM

Charlie Brooker pwns Gadaffi. He he

MeechMunchie 03-24-2011 11:41 AM

Gadaffi looks like Mickey Rourke.

That said, Botox anyone enough and they'll start to look like Mickey Rourke.

If Libya gains true freedom, do you think they'll change their flag to something less rubbish?
