It was in the first section of necrum, when you had to slap the 4 ghost traps to unlock the door. There was an info panel that told you that sligs were superstitious and they locked up the spirits to protect themselves.
|
Plus, Max said it.

I've always wondered where Sligs fit into the natural equation of things pre-industrialisation. If they had once been spiritual creatures themselves it would certainly make sense that they'd be superstitious - an ancestral understanding of spirituality but an ignorance to their roots would bring something like that around I guess...
|
If they had a vague awareness of their ancestry then they would always be looking over their shoulders to make sure they hadn't upset the ghosts of their past. This would naturally cause some superstition.
|
There are plenty of non-religious, non-spiritual and supposedly rational human beings on our planet that believe in ghosts and Ouija Boards and horoscopes and other bullshit.
Superstition doesn't need complicated explanations. |

Fair point. I tend to lump all that stuff into a spiritual belief separate from religion personally, but I can get how that isn't necessarily true and it isn't something I initially considered, due to the setting.
Also. Slig tarot cards. Do YOU dare gamble with fate? |
Hey, The Oddblog said that it could be Oddyssey, Exoddus or an entirely new game...but looking at the news item linked in the first page that just seems to be flat out wrong, only Oddyssey was alluded to in there....could it be that the blog is just wrong? =O I dont think so....what did I miss?

I think if they add features like online/LAN, better multiplayer, new game modes, and a level editor where you actually create your own levels instead of changing them; this game would be worth getting.
I'm hoping for new and improved background animations. Like you can see and here trains in Fee Co. Depot wizzing around all over the place. In Scrabania, you can see tumble weeds rolling or sand being blown in the wind. In Paramonia, you can see flocks of birds, hear and see rivers and water falls, and see and hear trees blow in the wind. |
All this info is very exciting. It wouldn't be called Abe's Oddysee HD if it wasn't a remake of Abe's Oddysee. That would be exceptionally cruel.
Making Oddysee and Exoddus at the same time might be tricky, but then, they use a lot of the same engine. Imagine Flying Sligs and Blind Mudokons in Rupture Farms :D Imagine if sligs had emotional states? Like if you threw a rock at it to wake it up, it would get angry and turn red. If you get two angry Sligs together, they could start fighting! |
Has this game been officially announced yet? For all we know it isn't called AOHD.
|
But didn't Lorne say it'll be an Abe's Oddysee HD remake?
|
Lorne says a lot of things... I want to see some kind of official announcement on oddworld.com before I really believe it's going to actually be Abe's Oddysee
for all we know it could be AO, AE, a mix of both or neither |
Lorne said it would be AOHD, but Stewart Gilray has since made it clear that they haven't made a decision yet. That's why the project is only known as "Abe HD".
|
It would be amazing if it was Oddysee and Exoddus in one game.
|
Exoddysee.
