In the end I'd still much rather play AO, AE, or SW. I think Munch's production design was one of it's few saving graces.
SW was the other way around. It's awesome gameplay made up for the chicken people. |
I've never hated anything in a video game more than I did controlling one of those fucking robots that shot people and electrocuted them but still took ten minutes to kill each one.

It's an unreleased news segment that was intended for MO, before they completely changed the story. The other two can be seen here. |
oh? i thought they were unreleased for near the end of AE. looks like i was wrong again - neg rep me, neg rep me!.............please dont neg rep me, +rep me! :)

I enjoyed MO on the first two playthroughs, back when I first got my Xbox/used to play it on my uncle's Xbox. I believe it was my first true experience on that generation of consoles, too, so I was naturally impressed by it. Now I can't be bothered to sit down and play it anymore. It bores me. Sad actually. |
i do get negrepped for the sake of it - i once got negrepped for asking why stranger didnt get a moon (it was in the moon thread!) and the post called me a dumb fuck! so i called him a shrivlled up cunt.

Anyone think if MO was originally made the way it supposed to it would of been a huge hit ? and maybe kept Oddworld in the game business ?
|
It might have, who knows. However I also think that OWI has always been an underdog developer. With gaming and consoles becoming a real hype around the time MO was made, I think a company that makes games about aliens and complicated puzzle gameplay and in depth stories wouldn't really have been competition to some of the huge games and developers that game out around the same time.
So even if MO did turn out the way OWI originally visioned it, it might not have become a hit after all simply because there were more interesting games on the market at the time. Hell, OWI played right into that trend with Stranger. People dig shooters, trying to produce another puzzle game would have sunk the company for sure. So yeah, I don't think it was the rushed finish of the game that made it sell bad, it was the mood of the market at that time. |
At the very least, the fans would have been much warmer to it if they had done it the way they planned.
Honestly, I'm more disappointed that we never got Sligstorm. I was so looking forward to that. |
i hope they make the xbox oddworld games work with the xbox 360 usb controller.:fuzzle:

agree 'cause it doesn't work with Abe's Oddyssey ans Abe's Exodus, I even try with Xpader but still not working :fuzmad: Anyway I can't wait for the new website and I hope we'll see Oddworld on digital market place (360 and PS3) Edit : I Find some links about Xpader it seems it could be works ! http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...8&postcount=18 http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...t-1324031.html |
Nearly the end of the month too so new website soon
|
well we are near the end of the month, and no website!
|
I heard it's going to be in 2.5D like LBP and it's going to be a genuine sequel, I knew Lorne couldn't sleep at night knowing he left us all hanging like that. ;)
|
heh, you know, the reason lots of people didn't like MO was because there had been so much promise and spoilers etc...that never happened in the end. I hope OWI are a bit more careful now, and don't promise too much in case something goes wrong, again. I prefer to be cautiously optimistic rather than dancing around on the ceiling.
|
Not me, I like everything.
|
I guess that I am one of the few that enjoyed Munch's Oddysee. I have played all 4 games over and over and can't decide on a favorite. I feel like it is Christmas, waiting on any news of the new projects. It is like I am starving, waiting for someone to throw me a bone.
|
SW was my least favorite, I liked AE and MO about the same (very much) and AO is my favorite and I know what you mean, it's gonna be like reliving my childhood.
|
I think Lorne is going to have to make a tough decision: the quintology will rely on some of the plot elements that weren't in MO, so will Lorne have to make ME before any other quintology games, or does he squeeze the story into the next game and force that games story into a bonus game?
|
I think the final story we'll see in the Abe movie will be much more detailed and changed than the one we're currently seeing in the story. For all intents and purposes, the Abe games so far have been a test ride. Both technology wise and story wise.
|
Personaly i really liked MO, and the only reason thats stopping me playing it again is that i like to chat with my friends from school and online buddies whilest playing my 360. But since its an original Xbox game i cant do that.
Ive got into a habbit of playing whilest talking to friends :/ and it feels weird and empty experience without doing it. I played AE for the first time in 2-3 years, and finnished with 300 mudokons a few days ago, whilest talking on Xbox LIVE ... only by having a party chat full of friends and turning the channel over and playing AE XD But my least favorate Game was Stranger ... i didnt like the fact that Abe Wasnt in it. And i dont want to sound like a little shitty fanboy kid who only likes Oddworld titles with Abe in it ... but it just didnt have that Spark that Oddworld has with first 3 games, thats my personal oppinion anyway :) |
Strangely enough, I also like MO more than SW.

SW had amazing graphics and gameplay and didn't seem anything wrong with it. MO was glitchy and felt like a test game to test if Oddworld was any good in 3D. I hope the Oddbox will make both of them seem better. |
I agree with Crashpunk, it sucks that they couldn't add in any of that cool stuff like the big armies, cool graphics snoozers and stuff but hey, that's xbox!
