Wrong. You were being competetive.

I honestly wasn't. It just bugs me when someone tells me that I'm using something in the wrong context, since I always make sure I'm using a phrase or word properly before I type it up. So I felt the need to clear that up.

Mojo 03-07-2007 12:27 AM

I know Dragonforce has been discussed in this thread, but no opinions yet. So, what do you all think of DF? I just downloaded three albums, and I've been listening to it ever since. I love it!

Kimon 03-07-2007 05:06 AM

I know next to nothing of Dragonforce, except that a kid I hate really likes them. Meh.

It wasn't used in the right context. Here's what you said:

:

Personally, I despise rap, but I could care less if other people like it.
Which means:

"Personally, I despise rap, but I care, if only a little, if other people like it."

Not. Sensical.

MODEST MOUSE WOOOOO

Fez 03-07-2007 08:10 AM

i think rap is okay if the artist puts his own efforts into the music.

I'm a great lover of Trip-Hop too, been listening to alot of DJ Shadow and UNKLE of recent.

They rank, but everything I say I'm afraid will furthermore be useless.

Wrong. You were being competetive.

(just had to do your shtick)

Has the new Modest Mouse sunk in yet OANST? I've hardly given it a chance.

Yes, it has. And I now love it. There are still a couple of songs that I'm not completely in love with but the rest of them make up for it. It's kind of like Good News having the song Dance Hall. Not a horrible song but definitely not one that I crave listening to.

Ugh. No, that's not what it means.

What it means is:

I hate rap, but I could care even less about people liking it than I do now.

Have I cleared that up yet, or are you going to continue arguing that the way you thought I worded it was wrong?

......Which indicates that you care at all. If you could care less, then you care at the very least a little bit.

You've done nothing to clear anything up, you've just restated yourself! Ahh!

Christ, we've been griping about this awhile. In attempt to not kill this thread with boredom, send me a PM with your rebuttal.

Regina Spektor and Feist FTW!

OANST 03-07-2007 05:13 PM

Spektor is great. She's like if Tori Amos was talented.

Leto 03-07-2007 06:51 PM

I have to say, I'm not a fan of Dragonforce. Or Vagina Spector. Or DJ Shadow. But I like what I've heard of UNKLE.

Got a copy of the new Mars Volta, and it's... decent. Omar Rodriguez Lopex is really flapping his Manual of Dexterity wings. But that acoustic one with Spanish over it is decent.

And I've ordered Sickoakes. It's like Deus Ex II theme x Explosions in the Sky + Arabia in Sweden.

OANST 03-07-2007 07:27 PM

Vagina Spektor, eh? I'm not sure how to respond to that.

Ugh, this is becomming monotonous. Let's just agree to disagree.

A theme tune even better than the Magnum one: http://www.filefactory.com/dlf/f/0df...3/j/1173381669

Hobo 03-08-2007 10:47 AM

I'm a fan of old school rap where they didn't shout about their hos and shooting their mothers faces off with their 'glok, nigga!'

Arxryl 03-09-2007 06:02 PM

Yes... the old school rap was something great. I'm not too big a fan of what most rap I've heard nowadays sounds like.

And is that link to Quantum Leap 2? Because I can't download it right now due to my computer being a peice of shat, and the file name contains _QL2_ in it. ;)

Leto 03-09-2007 10:21 PM

I only really gave Regina Spektor a little listen when her homepage was posted here a while ago, and I didn't really like her then. When I saw the video to 'Fidelity', my opinion of her changed. Now I think she's terrible. I mean, "hea-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-art"? Good lord.

Yes, that's Quantum Leap. The file name has a 2 in it, because it was the second Quantum Leap music file I recorded. It's actually the original theme.

and the male thinks a song isn't a song without a singer.

They aren't. They're instrumentals.

:

song [sawng, song] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. a short metrical composition intended or adapted for singing, esp. one in rhymed stanzas; a lyric; a ballad.
2. a musical piece adapted for singing or simulating a piece to be sung: Mendelssohn's “Songs without Words.”
3. poetical composition; poetry.
4. the art or act of singing; vocal music.
5. something that is sung.
6. an elaborate vocal signal produced by an animal, as the distinctive sounds produced by certain birds, frogs, etc., in a courtship or territorial display.
You probably mean he doesn't think it's music. If so, sorry for being an arse.

DragonForce is fun, but I could never listen to them as a fulltime band, their stuff is just too similar. I'm glad they tried a little harder with their new album though.

I finally got Origins of Symmetry by the way, and it's good, but I don't think it quite deserves the worship it gets from Muse fans. I still prefer BH&R, and then Absolution. I wish I could find Showbiz.

Leto 03-13-2007 09:32 PM

Regarding songs.

Showbiz in my opinion is just a collectors item, there are very few noteworthy tracks. Muscle Museum, the title track, Unintended and Escape being the only I remember. Fillip is the only song Muse have that actually annoys me.

This is almost musical: has anyone heard of Judson Fountain? Flawless radio stories.

skillya_glowi 03-17-2007 02:54 PM

Oh, and I believe that the new Modest Mouse album, "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" was released today in Australia, and will be in America on Mar. 20. Has anyone by any chance got it yet?

OANST 03-18-2007 07:07 PM

As I said, I've had the leak for a couple weeks now and have been enjoying it more and more every day.

Fluid 03-22-2007 10:45 PM

well these days i've been listening to zepp's fourth album.,....

Leto 03-23-2007 12:28 AM

Guess what I just found secondhand at Real Groovy after 2 years of meaning to buy it. Пустота by Theodor Bastard. Bloody surprised me was. The percussion on Satori Aisha is cool, something I havent heard before.

i guess you like led zeplin........

Facsimile 03-31-2007 06:02 PM

That was... Weird. Anyway, yes. Look at classical works. Would you call Beethoven's symphonies songs?

Yeah my friend said it's nothing amazing, but I would buy it for the title track itself. I love that song so much.

In other news, I bought JT's FutureSex/LoveSounds last week, the first half of it is so awesome. 'What Goes Around...' is amazingly beautiful, as is the end of 'LoveStoned'.

Fez 04-01-2007 03:57 AM

I think Showbiz is pretty good! Its alot more energetic and youthful then the other albums. Pretty stripped down too, none of these overused arpreggiating things.

Statikk HDM 04-03-2007 07:06 AM

So, anybody else looking forward to Rush's new album Snakes and Arrows? I know I am.
Oh, and Neil Peart and Glenn Danzig are in the new ATHF movie.
"I want the walls to bleed black blood!"
You go Evil Elvis!

I guess so....

one question... is this ''what are you listening to right now '' type of thread or it's just discussion

OANST 04-03-2007 03:39 PM

Anybody remember Revolting Cocks? Interesting stuff.

Infection Form 143 04-03-2007 06:40 PM

Flaming Lips are great!
BAD DAYS AND THE YA YA YA SONG ARE TEH SHIZZLE!!!!!

Do you know how they got their name? Their lead singer had a dream he was making out with the Virgin Mary in the back seat of his Cadillac and his lips caught on fire.

weird stuff.

OddjobAbe 04-04-2007 05:55 AM

Please forgive me for bringing up Quantum Leap again - I've reversed the theme using a recording device built into my computer. It sounds like a whole different theme! I did the same with the Magnum theme.

Arxryl 04-04-2007 04:43 PM

Interesting... It's just a tad more interesting than when you speed a song up really fast and try to sing to it... ;)
