Good point. I shall thus rephrase to imply that I meant "when he was in the stockyards" rather than "when he was at the end of the stockyards".

*feels credibility slipping*

I recall either Pilot or Abe Babe later conceeding that the asteroids hitting Abe’s Moon were actually a flashback, and didn’t take place just beyond our peripheral vision during the game itself.

I also don't think munch should have had his own moon. It kind of takes away from the story (I think). I liked how it was before where the hand could have just been a coincidence, but you really had a feeling that it was much more. Munch's moon just doesn't seem to fit to me. I do think that munch should have had something to represent him, but something different. Like having a lake shaped like his foot or something instead of another moon. You could understand why abe had never seen the moon before because he had been enslaved in rupture farms his whole life. But why wouldn't munch have seen his when he sticks his head out of the water? On the other hand, if it was a lake or something, they wouldn't have seen it until they fly over it in the airship at the end.

I latched onto this idea when I first read it almost a lustrum ago. Moons are quite a mystical medium for simulcra, which suits the Mudokons fine. Perhaps Gabbits should have something a little more down‐to‐Oddworld. These things could then form a natural equivalent to native sculpture and the industrial architectural motifs.

Someone's been reading the dictionary again... :p

Bonedust 10-24-2006 05:29 PM

Damn my New Yorken vocabulary

Nate 10-24-2006 05:39 PM

Do what I did: go to http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=lustrum and http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=simulacra.

Let's face it, none of us can match up to Max' might and wisdom. *worships*

Cullen Heath 10-24-2006 07:18 PM

Guys, quit spamming up one of the best threads on the Forums.

OnTopic: I really like the idea that he/she had on the Lake. It makes sense, too, which is cool.

Bonedust 10-25-2006 04:21 PM

Maybe the moons dont show their faces (the mudonkon hand and gabbit foot)
until they know a hero is/will be realized.

Bullet Magnet 10-26-2006 02:21 AM

Aware moons? Really?

*resists urge to explain astrophysics*

What were the games Habitales and Fearietales suppost to be about?
(I just saw read it skimming through the unofficial FAQ)

Wil 10-26-2006 04:59 PM

They were going to be real‐time strategies, but not just about warefare between opposing sides. They would have taken the concepts of controlling the environment that were intended for Munch’s Oddysee and made them much more open‐ended. The only distinction between them is that the Habitales would have been about Oddworld’s living, breathing œcosystems and the Fearietales would have been about Oddworld’s afterlife. Allegedly.

Nate 10-26-2006 06:48 PM

Were they all specifically RTS's or was HOO merely a member of the Habitales that was an RTS? I need to check the old booklet but I thought that he never specifically stated the style of the games beyond their themes.

Wil 10-26-2006 11:32 PM

Indeed.

Slaveless 10-28-2006 11:55 AM

Just throwing out a question here, but what is the Melted Candle Syndrome? It was in the articale for Interns in the TOE, and I have no idea what it is.

Munch's Master 10-28-2006 12:04 PM

I presume it's where your body look like a melted candle- Your lower body is potbellied and wider than your upper body.

Slaveless 10-28-2006 12:13 PM

I wonder how that has anything to do with Interns having lack of sleep. Curious things, Interns are.

Arxryl 10-28-2006 02:35 PM

maybe.
I know that this question won't ever be answered completely but...
what do you think Stranger's real name is?

Bullet Magnet 10-28-2006 03:47 PM

At first I thought that melted candle syndrome was from the phrese "burning the candle and both ends" when you overwork yourself, which would be because of the extended work shifts the Interns have. Though apparently it is about their physique, in which the fat from their bodies has drained down to the bottom of their torso because they spend such long periods standing upright, due to the work.

We never find out Stranger's real name, if he even has one. It just enhances the mystery that shrouds him.

Slaveless 10-28-2006 05:18 PM

Ah, thank you BM.

Now about the Stranger thing. I seriousily think that it is not important to know his previous name, if he had one, since the current one is perfect. It explains the mystery that always lurk everyone and the darkness in his past, present, and future. Now on the other hand, Stranger probably had one at one point, but chose to rename himself for secret reasons. Probably because he either a. wanted to keep his real name away from any Wolvarks or Outlaws that are familiar with Steef names or b. didn't want Grubbs to know that his name, since they are very familiar with Steef names. He probably didn't want anyone pestering him about his name. Also, he won't reveal later since no one will regonize the new Stranger, and that he probably doesn't want the Grubbs to know that he avoided to help them.

Arxryl 10-30-2006 06:00 AM

Ah...thank you for your replies.

Luskan 10-31-2006 05:59 AM

i thought that maybe part of the reason he didn't have a name, or name himself was so the clakkerz and wolvarks etc coulden't refer to him other than looks. They can only call him Stanger, which could mean anyone to an extent. Of corse they eventually find out he's a steef anyway i think.

Bullet Magnet 10-31-2006 10:23 AM

I doubt they're smart enough to equate the disappearance of Stranger with a steef rampaging through town, other than the fact that he may have been eaten.

Patrick Vykkers 11-02-2006 09:17 PM

Do Sligs have an anus? If so, where is it?

Bullet Magnet 11-03-2006 02:46 AM

Oh, what?! Why would you ask that? Why?

I imagine it would be at the base of the tail, though I wouldn't be surprised if they simply sweated their waste out.

Slaveless 11-03-2006 02:50 AM

...

They probably do, but it could just be an opening that lets out urea. That's why whenever you check, you can't find what your looking for.

Edit: Shoot, now I have thoughts in my head thinking about a Slig going.

Bullet Magnet 11-03-2006 02:58 AM

I think this has given us a unique and unpleasant insight into Patick Vykkers' mind.

Wil 11-03-2006 08:29 AM

I think he’s taking inspiration from ODDBODD or Doug.

Bullet Magnet 11-03-2006 02:46 PM

And Xavier, apparently. How old was he then?

Wil 11-03-2006 02:56 PM

Xavier didn’t start the topic. :p

Patrick Vykkers 11-03-2006 09:50 PM

Hey, there was a topic about whether Intern's have asses. And that stuff about some chick in love with Glukkons.

Zerox 11-04-2006 12:43 AM

I'll try to answer this sensibly: The 'tail' of Sligs is a pair of vestigial legs which have merged together. Normally, you'd think the anus would be from behind, which is generally suitable for the purposes of many animals. But due to how the Sligs crawl, it would seem liable that evolution moved it to the front of the animal, so all waste comes out the front, instead of the Slig crapping all over itself. This system would force the Slig to then crawl through it's own waste, so thoughts would be that maybe an extendable tube has formed so it can move it's waste to the side of itself. Otherwise, if they live in swamps, it may not really matter so much if their underside is in goo half the time anyway.

I hope your happy now. Oh, and the reason you can't see would be either A) it's retractable to prevent it sliding through mud and dirt and chances of the inside getting infected or B) the designers just didn't think of it and never bothered putting it there.
