For some reason mining down in that huge cavern all by yourself is pretty creepy. Especially because it's not entirely mob proof yet.

Where are you planning on building this monstrosity, Wil?

Haven't decided yet. I'll have to have a look around tonight.

Splat 07-03-2012 01:11 PM

That's far too high I fear. Could you make it just below the level of the room with the glass-pane around windows? If you do I'll put it on the main south line.

Havoc 07-03-2012 01:19 PM

Wouldn't it be easier to extend the connection from Farmer's Interchange past Mountain Station into the mountain underneath his sky thingy?

DarkHoodness 07-03-2012 01:38 PM

Yeah then you could make it into a cool spiral like I have inside my tower-like building in Ma'Spa.

Splat 07-03-2012 02:17 PM

I could do that, but I like the idea of putting it on the main line.
Phylum, if you move the station you'll be on the main line. If not, you'll be on the connection line. Your choice.

I was thinking, when this thread gets to page 100 should we start a new one? A lot of what's in here is pretty confusing, no longer relevant or deeply buried. It's quite obvious that a lot of the newbies haven't read much, if any, of this thread.

Splat 07-03-2012 04:25 PM

Cross-Desert Line (pink) now reaches Oldnile Village Station. This line will, later, reach Nikki's house and Hulaa's village - does that place have a name, by the way? I'm also considering the feasibility of connecting it to Dread Mountains Outpost some time in the future.

Hulaabeo 07-03-2012 08:21 PM

Ah, not quite yet. Haven't decided on anything.

I did have an idea for sort of a community event after we finish up with the underground city. What if we temporarily wage war against eachother, perhaps forming our own teams, on the server? We could do it out in the wilderness, or even in the city if we can reverse the damage that is bound to happen.

So if we close this thread, they will end up reading it?

The way I see it, only the last few pages of this thread are ever really relevant. That won't change if the thread gets longer.

Havoc 07-04-2012 04:10 AM

Yea most of the important information is in the OP and people are free to read trough the thread if they wish. No real need for a new topic IMO.

Also, if we ever get a second server up and running for themed events, I think this would be awesome to do sometime:

xXxrenhoekxXx 07-04-2012 04:50 AM

wow I'd love to see that map played on a server.
(also I was allowed in the server my name's segendo in minecraft and I'm building this http://i.imgur.com/fI34Y.png on top of a mountain near the skeleton statue in ma'spa.)

That would be amazing. Even though it will scare the crap outta me once the walls drop. :fuzemb:

xXxrenhoekxXx 07-04-2012 08:17 AM

I forgot to ask,
if you did do something like that,
would there be teams (I'd be dead in two seconds if I were alone)

Hulaabeo 07-04-2012 08:43 AM

This would be awesome. As for teams, with the amount of people on the server it probably would have to be done with teams.

Havoc 07-04-2012 09:37 AM

Depends on how many people sign up per event. Say we announce the event 1 week prior, if we get 4 entries we have 4 teams of 1 person, if we get 8 entries we have 4 teams of 2. So on, so forth.

Splat 07-04-2012 10:59 AM

Ren, if you make that thing, can I recommend you make it without the gold? It'd take you forever to mine all that, plus it'll look very obtrusive with the big, rectangular border. Just do Abe and leave it at that.

Wil 07-04-2012 12:56 PM

Well my search for a location for the OWI symbol wasn't too successful. The best place I can find is the lake behind the Ma'Spa portal. Unfortunately this will mean getting in the way of the large cobblestone bridge there. Would anyone mind if I altered or removed it?

Phylum 07-04-2012 05:26 PM

So I went down into the inconspicuous cellar today. It looks a bit different to the last time I was down there; it was in complete chaos.

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1341447888

It looks like there are still chunks excavated to the first level, whereas other sections go down at least 20 blocks, such as the crater in the middle. There was also a big slime down there, so it looks like we're building on a slime chunk.

Havoc 07-04-2012 05:35 PM

The rock had some run ins with TNT. The TNT won.

Also, Lighthouse Station has had a massive overhaul. As did the interior of the lighthouse. Spent way too much time on that though, so now I am off to bed.

I wasn't actually going to use gold (I used a program to render the sprite)
the gold is so I can tell what parts to actually use.

Crashpunk 07-05-2012 08:34 AM

I had a hard time trying not to laugh whilst I edited this.

MeechMunchie 07-05-2012 12:23 PM

WHAT?

ALL GO OUT TOGETHER AND GET WHAT?

Crashpunk 07-05-2012 01:05 PM

Oh god I'm such a idiot. I've actually forgot to upload a part! I just uploaded part 5 not part 4! :(

Also Wil said "let's all go out and get drunk." Why the fuck didn't that show up in the video? darn Vegas screwing up again.

Havoc 07-05-2012 01:35 PM

I was about to say, I think there's a part missing O_o

Splat 07-05-2012 02:21 PM

I was gonna say that, too.

I was also gonna say that I was crying with laughter 30 seconds in.

Gwan-Thwei 07-05-2012 04:52 PM

I was thinking of joining, but my username is stupid. Also I'm not a "regular" just yet.

T-nex 07-05-2012 07:54 PM

so make up your mind.

Crashpunk 07-06-2012 04:47 AM

Since the Minecraft thread is no longer active. I may as well and post the new snapshots here.

:

Performance improvements, including reduced CPU, RAM & bandwidth requirements.
Updated Pistons to make them less error-prone, thus they also appear to update slower. This also altered the way Pistons work, so you might have to adapt your repeater delays and similar.
Added /debug command.
Signs are stackable up to 16.
Crafting them now gives 3 signs instead of 1 with the same recipe.

Creative mode inventory now shows potion effects.
Boats now drop the boat item when destroyed.
Gaining Experience from mining ore is now different for each type of ore. (Mining Coal will give you the least amount while Diamond Ore & Emerald Ore will give the most amount of XP).
Fortune enchantments no longer affect Experience drop rates
Fortune enchantments are harder to get now
The Debug (F3) Pie chart now shows the game rendering performance (White)

Bug Fixes: [Expand]
Signs are stackable people. Rejoice!

Anyway, I'm currently uploaded Part 4 of the Stronghold Raid, after my cock up with parts yesterday. :)

Havoc 07-06-2012 04:48 AM

Stackable signs? Oh thank you lord!

Crashpunk 07-06-2012 04:56 AM

Now all we need is stackable Mushroom Stews.

EDIT: here's part 4

Fuck yeahhhh I might be more inclined to play in future.

Wil 07-06-2012 07:11 AM

Don't they say words to that effect every release?

Splat 07-06-2012 02:51 PM

Yaaaaaay! :D

Don't suppose you recorded the Highly Ceremonial Placing of the Egg in the Vault?

I'd swear I read somewhere that Jeb said 1.3 would be more resource hungry because of the singleplayer/multiplayer merge. I know they're working on performance improvements, but overall it should still be more demanding than 1.2.5.

Manco 07-06-2012 05:13 PM

Well shit.

One day I will have a steady framerate.

One day...

I'm afraid not :(

Also I expect Single-Player to have more glitches thanks to the SP and MP merge. :fuzemb:

Phylum 07-07-2012 06:27 AM

Lots of MP glitches are lag based. They occur when the client and the server have different ideas about what's actually happening.

Realistically it will make the game more stable. When they change something in one gamemode it will no longer have undesirable side-effects in the other.

I've been using the release candidates for a while now where they merged SP with MP - So far it's been perfectly fine apart from the max draw distance being a little lower than it should be.

Gwan-Thwei 07-07-2012 09:54 AM

I thought of another problem with joining: i use the night to fight monsters. So nobody would sleep.
