I was in creative mode and spawning mobs. Lots of mobs. Right next to the cathedral. Anyone who didn't want to join in fighting them (which was tremendous amount of fun) could have gone elsewhere. What I did do is avoid spawning in anything destructive - no creepers or ghasts, and certainly not an enderdragon. That was a Very Bad Idea. If it had gone through the cathedral, Splat, I would be right by your side in being Very Pissed Off.
Let's stop talking about the Minecraft server just being a game. Splat, you're a very creative person and I've no doubt that like me you see Minecraft as a platform for creativity, a voxel medium for expression. I'm very sorry we didn't fix your house perfectly. We did the best we could working from the material we had. Ironically, Havoc's video will probably help in restoring the soil below it to its former arrangement. EDIT: Splat posted. p.s. I'll admit that fighting the enderdragon was tremendous fun. We should go somewhere far, far, far away from anything anybody cares about and do it again some time. |
@Splat - Thanks for apologising, and again, we're sorry it happened in the first place.
EDIT: I'll admit to spawning a creeper too... In a fire, far away from the cathedral. And just the once 'cause it was funny to watch it mingle with all the other burning mobs. :P As for the dragon, we could delete the chunk where the ruins are meant to spawn and go fight it legitimately... I think that'd be more fun somehow. |
I've just made sure all of the traps I placed are removed.
|
Splat I'm just really disappointed that you'd target me.... We're supposed to be friends. I had nothing to do with the destruction of anything. I just happened to be on the server. I felt bad when the dragon destroyed the house. We all did.
|
Legitimate dragonslaying would be preferable, but we could only do it once.
|
but isn't there more than one dragon? I'd love to fight a dragon again :p Getting to lvl 56 was a bonus as well. But then we have to do it outside creative mode. Bring lots of health potions and bows and stuff :D
Also what was that egg for? .... bah Im so confused over what happened. Hey do we have a The End on the server? Is that the portal we saw? ... WEEOOOW .... ima go get a drink ._. |
Wow, lot has been posted.
First of all, let me say again that what happened last night was not intended to destroy anything, or grief anyone, or abuse powers or anything like that. It was just a couple of people having some fun which at some point got out of hand. It's not apparent in the first video I posted, but we had actually been there messing around for quite some time before I started recording. Natural creepers already took quite a big chunk out of the house at that point since we were messing around at night. The creepers you see being spawned at the start of the video were the first ones I spawned that night I think. As for your Splat's castle, we did walk trough it a bit to show Glitch around. I think a creeper exploded near the farm and that damage should have been repaired on the spot, but with all the laughter and humor going on I think it was just forgotten or planned to be fixed later. Sorry we left the doors open. As for the dragon, as it shows in the video, the second I see it tear up the grass in front of me I see how potentially destructive it can be and asked if there's anything we could do to despawn it. I'll be the first one to admit that spawning an Enderdragon that close to buildings was the worst idea I've had in quite some time and all things considered we were extremely lucky that the damage was contained to 'just' Splat's Enderhouse. I can understand that you're pissed about what happened and that we put your house back together a little differently, but we tried our best. I expected you to be pissed but the last thing I expected was a bunch of TNT under my door. In light of that we decided to de-op you for the time being until you had cooled down a bit, before you did anything else you would come to regret later. I hope this matter is resolved and we can all be friends. If you want any help rebuilding the house properly then just let me know. |
I talked a bit to Splat. he seems to be fine now ... Let's just let it cool for some time now... I don't think there is more to discuss.
Anyway... I wanted to make a suggestion if this is possible. You know that mod we had? Where we could buy animals? It would be nice if we had such a mod for super rare blocks like Mossy Bricks and cracked bricked, which like... let's face it. You have to be the lucky one finding the stronghold to get those. So like... it's be cool if we could have some mod where we could buy em with precious items. So that less fortunate people can have em as well o__o |
I was thinking it'd be cool to have some exchange system you could run with the ops where you can exchange common things for unobtainable things at a higher price. So if you give an op a stack of stone bricks they destroy it and give half a stack of cracked or mossy bricks. Give them a stack of cobble for 16 mossy cobble.
I was thinking something like: 4 stone bricks = 1 cracked stone brick. 4 stone bricks = 1 mossy stone brick. 4 stone bricks = 1 mossy cobble. 4 (or 2?) obsidian = 1 end stone. 1 gold/lapis/diamond block = 1 grass. 4 gold/lapis/diamond blocks = 1 mycelium (since you only need 1 piece to start it going). That way the blocks stay rare but are no longer unobtainable. The op destroys the blocks they were given 'cus they were being paid into the 'bank', which only the ops can access. Obviously it relies on there being an op on at the time but people are on and off a lot so sooner or later you'll bump into one. While I'd like to be able to access and use end stone, I think it should be kept expensive so people wanting to build houses and towers out if it really have to work for it (but saying that it took me ages to gather enough obsidian for my tower so demanding 4 times that amount is likely prohibitively expensive, so 2 is probably better. And since mycelium and grass automatically replicate infinitely once placed, I think it'd be fair to make them cost something valuable. |
It would be good if we didn't have to have ops in the process. The signs/accounts mod we had earlier would be better. Less effort for us, plus everyone gets their things instantly. But I do like the idea. Why not include sponge?
|
Actually that exchange system can be set it with trade signs like we used earlier. Though I do think the prices should be a lot steeper. If you want the blocks to stay rare it's no use being able to get with just 4 cobble.
Here's more reasonable prices, given the huge amounts of cobble and dirt everyone has. 64 Cobblestone = 1 Mossy Cobble 16 Stone Bricks = 1 Cracked Stone Brick 16 Stone Bricks = 1 Mossy Stone Brick 4 Obsidian = 1 End Stone 64 Dirt = 1 Grass/Mycelium 64 Obsidian = 1 Bedrock 16 Redstone = 1 Sponge How about that? |
I find that to be reasonable.. rare has to stay rare for a reason :p
Edit: Wait.. I do suggest that Bedrock is not made available... it cant be removed by anyone else but an op... |
Hence the very steep pricetag.
|
Those figures seem appropriate, although I agree bedrock should remain unavailable. But do you want to consider making ice, snow and cobwebs available through the same technique?
|
Snow and cobwebs are obtainable fairly easy IMO. I've pondered about ice, didn't know what to charge for it.
|
I didn't include ice as it's use in the nether is game-breaking. I'd say ice could be available only by special request and at the discretion of an op to ensure it's not being used in the nether.
Also, Spawn eggs? Passive ones? |
64 dirt = 1 passive egg?
|
I agree with the shop idea (except bedrock being available). I played a server where you could chop lots of tree blocks down and then sell those in exchange for iron and diamond tools/armour. Also I played a few servers where Creepers didn't explode and just disappeared instead. Not sure if this is a direction people want to go, but it's an option. We definitely have to be careful with those spawn eggs. They're dangerous little things.
|
:
Thinking about ice, it would break the Nether. Don't suppose there's any easy way for ice to be removed from the inventory of anyone entering it? |
snow can be placed with snow golems.
|
That's true, didn't think of that.
|
I liked Havoc's prices.
So I can sell 1 mossy for 64 cobble? wow neat, I have a whole stack of mossy in my fort, I'm rich! |
Blimey, sponge and mycelium are cheap.
|
I'd love to be able to purchase some passive eggs for my farm. Do animals still despawn though?
|
Passive land mobs do not despawn.
I can see where Splat is coming from. Dirt is, well, dirt cheap, and grass and mycelium spread. I agree with Chris, if the transactions are two-way, large stone projects will be a fair bit easier if we can buy cobble with mossy cobble. |
Man you guys really got your idea juices flowing :p
But I don't think it's two way... If you keep clicking the signs, they will just give a warning that you dont have the required item to buy for. But lol... if you guys want a full shop, then maybe we should build a big building and make it all nice and decorative, and put in a testificate to be the merchant an.. yea... xD |
Transactions are one way, I'm afraid. Besides it's not like there's a lack of stone or anything...
And yeah, with the proper permissions everyone could open their own stores and start their own trade signs. Trade signs are bound by player, so only the creator can collect the payments. |
I'm liking where this is going. Then people have a reason to build more buildings in a town rather than just their homes.
|
That's kinda awesome though.... we could have a whole system of trade shops.... :p... like some people may not want Lapis, which I happen to love.... so they could put that up for trading.
But then again.... I dunno if we should turn this whole thing into an economic system :p.... I kinda like the free spirit of the game... And people just donating and stuff. |
I've seen footage of a MC server where different items and blocks were available for purchase and were on display, as if they were simply dropped on a block of planks or something. It is a server that is still being set up, and is supposed to be a fully-fledged MMO server, with quests and everything, so I'm not sure if the shop bit was a standalone mod...
But even so, if we built a market building (personally, I could imagine building a colorful bazaar in my Egyptian settlement, but I'm cool with any other ideas - we could even have more markets, I guess), we could just place signs in different stores, with each having its own type of items to sell. I like the idea. |
