What about the people without widescreen monitors? Like me.

AvengingGibbons 08-01-2012 07:15 AM

go looking for one at a jumble sale

Varrok 08-01-2012 07:36 AM

We don't do jumble sales in my country :( We prefer to steal stuff.

Letterboxing.

I see no reason to think a 4:3 resolution will be absent.

Oh, I hate it so much. Even more than playing 4:3 games on widescreen with the correct ratio.

Actually, it's 5:4 u.u

It's better than Cut-off.

If the bodies are to stay on screen, I'd love if they rotted after time.

You know the visible effects of rotting take days, right? Or did you mean you want the body to rot away real time? I'd be totally up for watching the screen for 96 hours to see that.

Scrabaniac 08-01-2012 10:39 AM

What if they sizzle and decompose to a permanent mush with bones? Get a few flies appearing and wham, back to the grimey nature oddworld inhabits

I really should get a life

STM 08-01-2012 11:50 AM

So, you don't want to watch that? I'm upset.

Varrok 08-01-2012 11:57 AM

...I wonder... if they only made an achievement for that...

TheMooseLord 08-03-2012 10:35 AM

How long will the game be? I hope its as long as exodus (with all the hidden munokens)

The roads to the slig/paramite sections were too short for such an important section imo.

I read in an interview that they are adding rpg elements, and that the game may clock out at about 90 hours.

I found the interview.

:

When moving forward with the OddBox, we started getting some rather grand ideas. One of these was to create a multiplayer component for Stranger's Wrath. We've always been interested in bringing people together with media that has the power to question social standards, so yeah, multiplayer was kind of a no brainer.

We put together a team, and we went to work. I'm not going to get into too many specifics, but I'll say this. We finished it. We finished it, and we loved it. We made some fantastic multiplayer. Then we put it into beta. For a very short time on Steam, when you downloaded a certain game, you received the multiplayer beta of Stranger's Wrath with it. This is where things went wrong. We put it into the hands of the people, and it was an eye opening experience.

After the third time that I was called a "hippy faggot", I decided to pull the plug. No more multiplayer from this hippy faggot. No, sir. We are also cancelling our foray into social networking. I have realized, finally, that people are degenerates, and should never be allowed to communicate with each other.

Also, we have decided to include rpg elements in Abe HD, and it's looking like the game will take about 90 hours to complete on an initial playthrough.

MeechMunchie 08-03-2012 03:40 PM

It's part of his master plan to keep people locked at their computers so they can't see each other.

Even if they add a load of RPG stuff, how the hell can they make a 1-2 hour game into a 90 hour one?

Scrabaniac 08-04-2012 02:40 PM

I do hope its not with cheesy mini games or sub tasks..

Apparently J.A.W hired one of the writers from Obsidian who worked closely in developing Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 2, I suppose with that sort of experience you can add a lot of input into what was originally a small game.

Paul 08-04-2012 03:19 PM

Is there going to be a demo? I think a demo for feedback would be a good idea and maybe to find any bugs before the full release? I'm not a fan of the patch culture :P

Edit: And would remove the PC crowd "I pirated it to see if it would work on my PC" excuses.

Sekto Springs 08-04-2012 04:21 PM

This is starting to sound like a clusterfuck.

Crashpunk 08-05-2012 01:55 PM

I like the idea of a demo, maybe even a beta test for the devoted fans?

:>

But they can only do so much. If they do too much I fear it would look like they were stretching out the game just for the hell of it, and it would ruin it. But hey, I know as much as you guys, now. It will probably be OK.

STM 08-05-2012 03:58 PM

When you got someone from Obsidian working in a game, I really don't think the problem is stretching the game out. It's more a question of how fans will react to the change in genre from what is fundamentally a 2D platformer to a open world RPG.

Open-world would be an interesting take on Abe, but it's also a risky one. I guess we'll wait and see.

MeechMunchie 08-05-2012 05:43 PM

Guys, I'm worried about Nep.

Nepsotic 08-05-2012 06:12 PM

I meant it would be an interesting take. They can't exactly do it in 2.5D.

Phylum 08-05-2012 11:57 PM

I honestly can't tell if he's having us on.

STM 08-06-2012 04:15 AM

I thought I was doing a pretty good job, myself.

Nepsotic 08-06-2012 08:24 AM

I just don't know anymore. I'm going to unsubscribe from this thread for a bit.

STM 08-06-2012 11:29 AM

People still subscribe to threads? How 2005.

JennyGenesis 08-07-2012 04:00 AM

He only did it because there was a pony on the subscribe button.

Nepsotic 08-07-2012 10:08 AM

I might make a pony skin for this forum, but somehow I don't think Nate will have it.

Bullet Magnet 08-07-2012 05:55 PM

He doesn't have to use it.

Sekto Springs 08-08-2012 11:30 PM

I second the pony skin idea, only because I look forward to the kind of shit storm it would yield.

DarkHoodness 08-09-2012 01:07 AM

That'd probably be a forum breaker.

It would be funny to witness though. :P

Nate 08-09-2012 04:00 AM

Whilst playing a short bit of Rupturefarms recently, I was reminded of this screen. I can't wait to see the Penis Pipes in their HD glory!

Michael 08-10-2012 05:46 AM

Just had a couple of ideas as a result of the 'security camera look' from the Eurogamer reveal thread.

Remember that camera that follows and zooms in on Abe as he runs past the wanted poster in the intro cutscene? It would be cool if they were incorporated into the environments every so often, tracking as you move past (possibly with a monitor displaying the wanted poster/cam footage) :D

Also, I had a thought regarding the stockyards/free fire zone. In AO the sky was a little strange. It was part of the backgrounds, so if you travelled to the left it would get darker- but go right and the sky gets lighter again!

It would be great if the sky became dynamic in the remake, so that it gradually gets darker from the beginning of the stockyards, perhaps over the course of 5 minutes or something, so we get to see the sky change as time goes by- as opposed to the sky colour being linked to your position ;)
