I, too, believe J_Dude Jaydee jfriend would be a good nomination for FC mod.

Varrok 02-09-2017 11:12 PM

I think FF and JayDee should fight to the death. That is the only way to set this straight.

Slog Bait 02-09-2017 11:35 PM

Man, don't tempt JayDee. He's ruthless. He like, walked to a totally different city overnight because his gf was feelin' blue. Guy's a force to be reckoned with.

Varrok 02-10-2017 02:42 AM

Why didn't he take the bus?

Vlam 02-10-2017 06:50 AM

Why do you guys want J_Dude320 to be a moderator? Just asking.

STM 02-10-2017 07:39 AM

He's a top lad.

I've occassionally had people say that they're not receiving emails from the forum (password resets, that sort of thing), but every time I've tested it works fine. And we're certainly getting plenty of new member signups every day at the moment.

If you experience this sort of problem, let me know.

Varrok 02-10-2017 10:39 AM

But *how can they let you know if they can't log in?*

Manco 02-10-2017 10:53 AM

How do you test? Different email servers have different filters for what they think is spam - sometimes a legitimate email can be accepted by one provider and rejected by another.

I was talking to current members who might have used one of the email forms. And people have contacted me on Facebook either via direct message or in the OWF group.

I've told people to check their spam folders and they claim it's not in there. And if it is a matter of filtering, then there's not much that we can do anyway.

Oh, that OWF group that's hard to ever find on the FB unless somebody links you to it?

Oh, and not to mention, the group barely few people know even exists?

Manco 02-10-2017 10:59 AM

I think some servers filter spam with blacklists that block the email from coming in entirely - if that was happening then it wouldn't turn up in their spam folder at all.

You're right though, not much can be done about that - I think it's something that changes over time as servers run health checks on email domains or something.

For the record, I tried to find it and it doesn't exist.

By the way, for an update:
  1. We now have a weekly thread called "Odd Piece of the Week", where the forum highlights a particular image/interview/tidbit from Oddworld's vast archives and presents it to our members to discuss and theorise. It seems to be well received by our members, and if anyone has an idea for the next Odd Piece, feel free to put your hand up here, or else I'll find something for this Sunday.
  2. We are also planning for an OWF Dungeons and Dragons campaign! If you're interested, send me a Private Message. Everyone is welcome to join!
  3. There is also currently a discussion being held for a new Global Moderator to help assist Nate and Xavier.

It looks like we're making progress on a more active forum with a better sense of community. Hostility is down 97% and besides a few incursions by some of the hostiles, everything is moving along fine! Good work everyone!

Slog Bait 02-17-2017 03:37 PM

It exists. I'm in it. There were a lot of instances where people who were not part of OWF, but mistook it for an official OWI page were joining and posting things irrelevant to OWF, so it was buried deep in the depths of FB where only those who ask can find it.

Search for 'OWF'. I think it should come up high on the search results.

EDIT: I just checked the settings. It's definitely searchable.

Just tried again by searching OWF. Still nothing. I think it might have something to do with Facebook's search engine as opposed to the group being hidden.
