Finally beat the damn thing. Only one Pokemon in the Elite Four gave me problems and that was the Mega Gardevoir right at the end, hilarious when I posted about it a few days ago.
This has definitely been the best Pokemon game yet. They managed to make a Pokemon game that feels brand new and modern and yet keep the same old, traditional feel. Props for Game Freak. However, it's not my personal favourite. That belongs to Pokemon Gold/Silver mostly because I have huge amounts of nostalgia for them. |
I think the game had an exceedingly strong narrative until the fight with Korrina in the tower, then it sort of lost it a bit. Not that the rest was at all bad, but until right at the end it kind of felt so standard Pokemon game compared to how strong it started.
It's my third favourite after HGSS and BW, but the post-game scenario with Looker and Emma looks to be really fun. |
HGSS is definitely my favorite, but I would put XY as a close second – I had trouble getting into BW because it felt like there was much more grinding necessary and because the story and general style didn’t grab me early on. I’ll probably go back and try and finish it once I’m done with XY.
Speaking of, I’m just about to challenge the Elite 4 for the first time. Got a team of lv.70s: Delphox, Pangoro, Kingdra, Raichu, Noctowl and Sneasel. Wish me luck. |

I did, in fact, do it. Only had a couple of faints while fighting the first two matches, due to poor type matchups; and one faint against the Champion for the same reason.
I think now I’m gonna try my hand at breeding, see if I can get a dream team together. also, Friend Codes? I want to catch a Vulpix, but you can only get them in Friend Safari. My code is 2208-5734-1545, let me know if you add me. |
Strike Witch's safari gave Ninetails and I caught a few. My friend code is 0130-3193-4152. Send me a PM if you want to trade, though it'd probably be better for you to be able to catch them at your leisure for IV purposes.

The new starters are cool along with the 3D graphics. I ended up picking Froakie this time and Bulbasaur as my 2nd starter. Also got a free Torchic so now I've got Grass, Water and Fire... sweet

What the hell, I missed out on Ruby and Sapphire when they first came out, so I’m game.
|
I just saw the announcement a few minutes ago
FINALLY GEEZ |
I for one am looking forward to the release of Spenta Diamond and Angra Pearl in eight or so years.
|
I was hoping they would announce this soon. The first remakes were excellent and I'm glad the 3rd gen is getting the same treatment.
Can't wait! :D |

Gen III is best gen because it's the one I grew up with. Anyone who claims to have a different reason for their preference is probably lying. Nonetheless, I like it for having quirky, less cute designs that looked like something that might actually live in tall grass/caves/rock pools somewhere. And Route 111, which is basically the best thing ever. http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/3/3e/Spr_4d_344.pnghttp://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/4/42/Spr_4d_346.pnghttp://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/9/91/Spr_4d_342.pnghttp://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/b/be/Spr_4d_272_m.pnghttp://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/b/b9/Spr_4d_299.pnghttp://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/1/1a/Spr_4p_340.png So while I'm not exactly excited, since I've seen it before, I'm happy to see it again. Let's just hope they stop the remakes for a while. 3D remakes of games that are already 3D seem kind of redundant. |
MM will never accept it, but I came up with my joke independently of him and the only reason he typed his first is because I was double checking what the benevolent god to Angra Mainyu's Satan was called.

That's called being a filthy casual!

Maybe I was just more mature, because by 2003 I was already outgrowing Pokemon. I was interested in the CCG for a bit, but that died when I started buying YuGiOh cards, which would have been in 2003-2004.
e: Is it even possible to outgrow pokemon games? Maybe I just had a deprived childhood. |

Not going to lie, when I first booted up HeartGold and heard the revamped intro music. I had a shiver down my spine and a huge grin on my face. BAM! Right in the nostalgia! And when it comes to the 4th gen remakes, I can't see them coming out any time soon since the originals aren't really that old. Maybe we'll see a break from the remakes. :

I'm very excited, Gen III was my favourite as well.
Also the Victory Road music was just awesome. |
super stoked, love the hell outta gen 3 and seeing it with the presentation and graphics of gen 6 is gonna be awesome. Gen 6 was such a step up from 4 and 5 in that regard.
def very stoked. gen 3 also had the best soundtrack of any pokemon game I think, so there's that. plus secret bases!!!!! with wifi! I hope. |
Gen III was one of my least favourites. Whilst I did enjoy them at the time, it's not something I think back to now. They are better than Gen IV (except HG/SS) though, and I will probably end up buying this. After that I don't expect to see any remakes.

It’s been a while since they did more than two versions at once, it’s getting a little weird.
|
maybe they're realizing that Pokemon is such a massive all-encompassing franchise among gamers that they don't need to release third versions of games. plus those were usually there to fix up on any bugs or mechanics of the ones that preceded it (eg crystal > gold &silver), and i guess since Game Freak has learned so much since then they don't need to milk the series or do cleaning up as much anymore.
the rest of the games they've been putting out other than new generations have been pretty much giving the fans what they want (black and white 2 and the gen 3 remakes mostly). however, i could see a pokemon z coming out at some point. It's just too perfect a title. |
I've got to be honest. I'm getting tried of the Pokemon tradition of releasing two games, choosing a starter, getting 8 gym badges and then going to the elite four. I've never bothered with battles or trading. So I've always got bored of the games quicker and quicker every gen.
I've been wanting to see something new since Diamond and Pearl. But obviously not something completely different. I want to see a MMO set across every single region. Online battles with friends in like a Pokemon Stadium like system, Teaming up with friends, traveling the world collecting Pokemon. I would like to see more than 8 gyms not in a set order, A massive open world, perhaps trainer stats. Just something to add to the mix but not changing to too much. I feel the same way with every Nintendo franchise. it's time Nintendo did something new. |
I keep meaning to play Mystery Dungeon and Conquest, but I never seem to find the time.
|
A Pokemon MMO would be awesome, but I dunno if it could really work. If it lived up to its full potential it could be amazing, but I never saw Nintendo as the type of company to do an MMORPG. And what console would it be on? 3DS? I suppose it could be a revolution, handheld MMORPGs (not sure if they're a thing), but a huge risk at the same time.
It would definitely be nice to see Nintendo doing something fresh again, though. Feels like it's been ages since they've really progressed the gaming medium. Last big advancement, I'd say, was Mario Galaxy. This video gives a pretty good perspective on the topic, but I think at least a few of the points made are pretty disputable. The more I think about it, the more it seems like a pretty logical next step in the franchise's life. I just wouldn't want it to become the complete centerpiece of the series, like with World of Warcraft. But I guess I mostly have Activision to blame for what happened with WoW. |
