Stacking.

It's good. Not Psychonauts good, but still good. Reminds me of Hitman. I like open levels.

Mr. Bungle 03-07-2012 04:34 PM

I played the demo, and just couldn't get into it. Didn't seem like much fun at all.

Nate 03-07-2012 08:07 PM

I played one and a half levels of the actual game on PE3 and just couldn't get in to it. Leaving aside the fact that the bouncing camera gave me motion sickness, it just felt like a trudge of completing dull tasks rather than exploring a world and meeting characters. Everything was just a bit too one-dimensional for my liking.

MeechMunchie 03-07-2012 11:29 PM

It's got a character called Albert in it. That was all it took for me.

Manco 03-08-2012 12:31 AM

I am very annoyed with Persona 4 at the moment. I’ve been making good progress through a dungeon up until now, when I died twice in a row under different stupid circumstances.

First, an enemy used its self-destruct attack which was somehow strong enough to take the player character’s health down to zero (in P4, you control the player character, and if he dies you have to reload your last save, regardless of the rest of your team’s health). So I lost two dungeon floors worth of progress. A bit frustrating but no biggie, right?

Well then after clawing back all my work I died on the same floor because I managed to use a group attack on four enemies who all were resistant to that attack, so it got reflected back at me four times over.

This is made worse because of how the save system works. There’s no automatic saves, and you have to leave or complete a dungeon to reach a save point.

Hazel-Rah 03-08-2012 08:04 AM

I finished Rayman 3 it was pretty fucking baller Reflux was a God of War caliber last boss! I liked the power-ups, my favorite was the rocket arm, I've been playing the shit out of that mini-game lately.

I also started Rayman 2, the PS1 version, I quite like the voice acting in it so far IDK.

OANST 03-08-2012 08:10 AM

I finally made myself finish Gears of War 3 the other day. God, what a boring fucking game. I don't remember anything I did in it. I know I shot some stuff.

The multiplayer is fun, though.

Crashpunk 03-08-2012 08:34 AM

After 66 hours, I have just completed Zelda: Skyward Sword
Amazing ending. The final Boss was really really fun (Quite easy if i'm honest) I won't give any spoliers because you've got to play it.

Overall, I think it is on par with Twilight Princess as the Best Zelda game (that's my opinion). Despite it's floors. It is one of the best games I've played. It is definitely the best Wii game.

I also started hero mode and lost the save file so that means I can't go back and complete the side-quests :(

OANST 03-08-2012 08:41 AM

I'm going to get around to playing that eventually. I hope it gets close to as good as Wind Waker was.

Crashpunk 03-08-2012 10:54 AM

I can guarantee it does. The only thing I find off-putting is what I said before that the control are very annoying at times.

Varrok 03-08-2012 11:36 AM

Just finished Space Quest II. I've never been into Sierra adventure games, but this series is pretty decent. The sequel is worse than the first one though

OANST 03-08-2012 12:03 PM

You're worse than the first one.

Varrok 03-08-2012 12:15 PM

Thank You OANST.

OANST 03-08-2012 12:19 PM

You're welcome.

The multiplayer is fun, though.

The only thing I remember is "DOM, NO!" which has become a bit of an in-joke for some pals and I.

I'm playing Overlard II. I mean Overlord II.

Actually, no. Definitely Overlard II.

It's very much fun indeed. Built as a sort of Pikmin clone, but instead of just being a mobile beacon like Olimar the Overlord's a tank who takes asses and kicks names. It pokes fun at the fact that it's built like Pikmin with the gnomes, which are tiny little creatures with pointy heads and long ears that you get an achievement for killing a thousand of, or something. Also makes fun of the environmental themes of Pikmin (that's three times in one paragraph, yeesh) with a bunch of Elves who are hippy-dippy fucknuts that are endless fun to set on fire. It lacks the charm or cuteness of the P-word but makes up for it with silly dialogue, excellent voice acting and a very unique and funny take on Western fantasy.

The controls seem a little clumsy at first, but it essentially breaks down to left stick, left buttons (square, X), left triggers to control the Overlord, right stick, right buttons and right triggers to direct the minions. Very quick and fun, but also refreshingly difficult. It was like 12$ and if you liked Pikmin you'll get into it very quick. Also, online co-op! So pick it up if you have a PS3 and we'll play.

OANST 03-08-2012 12:45 PM

You know why I think the game was boring? Too much action. There is almost no down time to enjoy the world. Wait. Enjoy the world of Gears 3.... Maybe they made the right choice.

Also, I was wondering if Overlord would be fun. Sounds like it is.

I was wondering if Overlord would be fun.

That was my thought process for buying it. It was cheaper than Mass Effect, clearly would be easier than Demon's Souls and wasn't leaning on a multiplayer aspect to hold it up. I heartily recommend it. Like a cannibal, heartily.

The only significant thing against it is that there's too much detail. Everything looks kinda grody and weird. The game isn't ugly, not any more than the deliberately obese imperial enemies and horrible little goblins (for once I mean that in a positive way) should look, it would just have benefited from cleaner textures.

Also, I got Xenogears off of the PSN. It's awesome but has not aged well, visually.

MA 03-08-2012 05:13 PM

i got the first Overlord the other day. i like it, but i haven't got very far yet. my uncle is playing Overlord 2 and he's enjoying it. basically what Kastere said. it's a fun game.

Daxter King 03-08-2012 07:18 PM

Both me and a friend got stuck in the same place on the original Overlord. Game needed a minimap.

I never finished that game because the final boss was really stupid and tedious. It stats good and gets worse.

Just a heads-up.

Dynamithix 03-08-2012 08:30 PM

Wasn't Razorback (that small piraterobot) the final boss in Rayman 2? He controlled a huge robot I think. I'm not sure if it's the same in the PS version, but I played it on the PC and he was the final boss.

Phylum 03-08-2012 08:41 PM

Yeah. You fight him in a giant robot and then you have to fly one of those really fucking tedious rockets around to beat his final form.

Played both versions, the whole game is pretty much the same but final boss fight on PSX is absolutely nothing like PC. On PC you're flying freely while robot is hanging on a wall, while on PSX you're both flying through a tunnel and you have to avoid star bombs by flying through holes in their pattern (you can move only in X and Y axises).

Phylum 03-08-2012 09:56 PM

And when you die you have to go back and fight the giant robot again.

scrabface 03-09-2012 06:35 AM

playing Enslaved, Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect atm

Crashpunk 03-09-2012 07:15 AM

Flying through the level on that shell before the final boss fight was so much harder.

Also the Final Boss in Rayman 3 was horrible.

Dynamithix 03-09-2012 07:49 AM

The final boss in Rayman 3 was awesome, it was just really hard.

I can guarantee it does.

That's a pretty tall order. For me, Wind Waker was just the perfect Zelda game.

Crashpunk 03-09-2012 08:49 AM

Well it's all matter of opinion isn't it? Okay then, I can definitely say it isn't a bad game. :tard:

Until the stupid jetbike thing it's absolutely pitch-perfect. I think it deserves a lot of credit for that, given how many good games completely screw up their boss sequences.

I finished Stacking 100%. It was average. Looked pretty, though.

Crashpunk 03-10-2012 09:37 AM

wow.

Sent off for a Counter-Strike: GO Beta key for a laugh and Valve actually sent me one.

MeechMunchie 03-10-2012 01:52 PM

I played Reaxxion, a super-charged version of the timeless "Paddle 'n' Ball vs. Big Brick Wall" formula. It's got explosions, multipliers, and a few nice ideas, like being able to generate different sizes of balls by shrinking your paddle. It's basically Peggle if it took itself seriously.

It's £1.49, the demo is an hour-long unrestricted trial. I got enough from the demo, others might want to buy it.

Strike Witch 03-10-2012 07:30 PM

Cleared Soul Calibur V's story mode. It's short and disappoint characterwise, but I liked the story itself. I really felt for the two siblings.

Dynamithix 03-11-2012 10:59 AM

I started Mass Effect on hardcore difficulty a few days ago. This time, I'm going with a female character. Won't go the Renegade path though, I just have to play it through as a Paragon character.

I'm pretty much losing interest in SSX right now because some of the badges are so fucking hard. I mean, you have to earn millions of credits in the online events, survive all deadly descents with no gear (armour/any useful items). It's just frustrating and not fun, that's why I've been leveling my characters by doing Trick it -events online.

Disgruntled Intern 03-11-2012 03:28 PM

Picked up Mass Effect 3, only a couple of hours in. It's pretty great.

Anyone else playing/going to play? I'd like to try the multiplayer out but it would probably be more fun with some of you rather than pissy 13 year olds screaming at me the whole time.

Hazel-Rah 03-11-2012 06:55 PM

Sonic Colors, it's fun but the cutscenes make me wanna crack the disc in half. Trimming the cast down was a cool idea but it didn't make this game any less irritating. I know these games aren't meant to be taken seriously but Sonic Adventure was so epic compared to this, every scene with Dr. Robotnik/Eggman w/e is just complete slapstick nonsense. I don't want the games to take themselves too seriously, there are enough games that do that as it is, but atleast make it feel like there's something at stake here and, heaven forbid, have some interesting characters like E-102 Gama.

Manco 03-12-2012 01:38 AM

You’re crazy, Sonic Colors has some of the most entertaining cutscenes from a Sonic game. Adventure was full of cheesy crap and its super-seriousness was part of what led to Sonic 2006’s existence.

Also I’ve been picking up New Vegas after abandoning it for a few months. This game is just full of sidequests, I can’t even remember what the main quest was.

Phylum 03-12-2012 01:55 AM

I dumped my PS2 BIOS and created an ISO of Jade Cocoon 2. I'm playing it with a shittone of codes that fix lots of the bugs, such as the missing abilities. I can finally have my ideal water side of 2 anandia and 1 selahmnite. It also allows you to buy Dark Impact, Lilith's attack that hits all 8 places on the amulet, in the earth shops. Apparently you can make kalma eggs in synthesis, but they require high level items.

For what I played, Sonic COLOURS's cutscenes were yes annoying but no worse then any other Sonic game. Sonic is very verrry cheesy.
