He's in search of his head... and legs
|
|
He should've known not to lose head while drinking last night
|
Excellent illustration, well done ^^
Really weird how the position and the glass fit perfectly ! But wrong answer...The slig is finished, I'm almost done with the second one with its weird position ;) |
Pictures man! Pictures!
|
Done !
http://www.affectueusement-votre-eco.../r19-pres8.jpg It's not exactly 100% the same as the original but, you will agree with me if I say that's enough for me :) |
Best. Ever.
|
amazing work lauric :) did u render that image inside zbrush?
|
Wow, that's pretty damn good.
|
If I didn't know there wasn't an image of a flying slig like that, I'd say you had ripped it straight out of one of the manuals and photoshopped it a tad. I don't think I've ever seen something that good looking based on Oddworld in forever or at least a long time.
|
Amazing work!!!
|
Best. Ever.
Yes, that deserved a second post. |
The awesomeness of that slig made my eyes bleed.
Fucking phenomenal work. And that means something coming from me. I don't think anything's phenomenal. |
Thank you guys, really.
Yes AG, I rendered it in zbrush directly, no photoshop cheat ;) Thank you again ! Stay tuned, the second one is coming this afternoon ;) |
So tell me Lauric, why aren't you working for JAW already? :P
+Rep given, BTW, that's some damned fine artwork right there - Didn't you say you weren't experienced in zBrush? You have a ton of talent. |
Thanks DH :) Indeed, like I used to say, Zbrush was totally new to me when I started to make the slig. But as you can see, It's not a very hard modelisation, it's kind of simple I guess...Thanks to that, I know today the Zbrush basics ;) (Well, be sure that get used to use another 3D software helps a lot to learn another one)
Here is the other one. You can now see what I was doing with this weird position http://www.affectueusement-votre-eco.../r19-pres9.jpg You should now easily guess what thing/picture will be on the poster holding by the flying slig ;) Starting now the texturing part ;) |
Oh I see now. :) Very awesome.
When you're done, why not have a smaller version of that as your profile pic here? :P |
Very clever! I thought it was just going to be him turning sharply with the pants.
|
i'm envy. My Zbrush works looks poorly :(
|
My god, that looks insanely awesome. Please tell me you're putting these skills to good use somehow?
Also someone needs to texture it! |
Thank you again !
Don't worry I'm working on the texturing part :) And these "skills"...hmm nope, that's just for fun, actually...(and my love of weird universes...) My job is kind of far away from any type of art :) |
Hey guys, just here quickly to say that...I'm now a twitter user. I used to have an account a long time ago but I just gave up when I saw that I just didn't understand a s*** about it...But here we go again ! I still don't understand actually...Haha ^^
I thought it might be more easier for some people to see what I do about this WIP directly on twitter instead of coming on this thread every time...(<- Don't even know if there is any crazy people who really do that ^^) https://twitter.com/#!/LauricB See you soon for some kind of textures stuff! EDIT : Hmm I was thinking, I believe you haven't already seen this picture before (twitter image profile), it was a color test I've made few weeks ago, may enjoy this small one! |
Mega plus rep for those sligs up there :D
|
:
Also, I followed you. :) |
Thanks Scraby ;)
DH yeah, that's how I use to feel about :) Maybe someday... ;) Actually I work some times on some visual projects for companies but I can't say it's art :/ Soulless work...So I'm here with my WIP to compensate this bad feeling ! |
But companies like JAW really are desperate for people with talents like yours. If you looked around for work in this field, you really could end up doing something that you enjoy AND get paid for it. What's there to lose? :)
|
:)
There's nothing in France, you know. Except in Paris, but I hate people living in Paris (I'm living in southern France). I should leave the country for that. And I don't think companies like JAW need people like me ! I mean, I'm sure there's a lot of guys having (a lot of) more skills than me ;) |

|
I'd love to know someone of your talent was working on AbeHD, and hopefully future Oddworld projects as well.
Of course, if they already have people of your talent, the more the merrier. |
Maybe I should apply. Should I apply ? Don't know...
Well, the texturing part is pretty good for now ; can't wait to show you more guys ;) I'm glad to see you here since the beginning ;) See ya ! |
APPLY GOD DAMNIT!!

:fuzzle:
Stay tuned, here is a big update. Let's get back to our scene with the trains, ok ? Remember, last time I showed you the train from some differents point of view A lot of 2D work have been made then. Here is a long picture to describe briefly some steps. Sorry for the small size but for now it's just about showing you the general environment of the picture, and his composition with the differents elements I told you I was working on. I'll show you the details later. Don't worry about the "too-much-blue" of the picture, it's normal, what I'm showing is sort of a "draft", actually I'm first working on the cold layer of the scene, the hot one for later. 1. First of all, assembling all of these elements we've talked about. You, of course, remember the trains, the "industrial" floor with the boilers, and the long construction used as background I showed you before. So here we have the "together-part". 2. Adding some smoke and boilers details. Lighting the background to prepare the work about "perspective" (Is this the correct word ?) 3. Working on the perspective with smoke and some others (small) trains 4. Do you remember ? I said I wanted a roof. Challenge accepted :) Please tell me your feelings about all of this. Don't worry about the weird colors and the white one often surexposed. It will change of course ;) http://www.affectueusement-votre-eco...r19-pres10.jpg EDIT: Before you people ask ; The sligs will be on the right side of the picture which will have a larger size (Now 12 000 * 5625 to approximately 14 500 * 5625, I assume it sounds crazy ;) ) |
That's really, really coming together nicely - It's nice to see progress as more details are added. But I'm afraid I don't have any criticism for you. All I can keep doing is throwing rep at you and telling you how awesome it looks. :)
BTW, don't take Havoc seriously. :) As for applying at JAW, I was going to say last night that most of the artist jobs are gone from their recruitment page (which is actually a good thing since it's cool they've found people). However, they are aware of you as I said much earlier - You really should contact them anyway, and find our what your options are. :) Of course I won't push you any further if it's something you aren't keen on doing. I just find it a shame that you're not working for them with the talent you have. |
Well... I gotta say I am impressed. I haven't seen a fan-made image that detailed or beautiful in a long while. Rock on Lauric.
|
I'm very impressed. I want to see different views of trains, particularly close-ups. )))
|
Thanks guys ;)
Also you DH for your advices ;) |
Ola guys,
The flying slig all textured is coming tonight. He looks great and just want to say hi. See ya! |
I can't wait!
|
|
That's a damn good looking slig, perhaps a little too shiny but then maybe sligs are slimy anyway? :) That tatoo on his arm is a nice touch! Very nicely done!
