it's in the human psyche to do wrong once in a while.

You'll be hard pressed to find any person in history who ever did bad for the sake of it being bad.

Bullet Magnet 07-27-2011 02:08 PM

Adolescence comes to mind.

Wings of Fire 07-27-2011 02:12 PM

Adolescence is practically defined by self justification.

Bullet Magnet 07-27-2011 03:21 PM

"For the sake of being bad" is a justification. It's not a very good one, but it is used.

The psychology of it is very interesting, I'm sure. Testing boundaries and all that, maybe. The neurology is definitely interesting, in short: their brains aren't finished.

I often get frustrated by people who believe whatever the Bible says must be true except for the bits which get disproved.

on many occations I have stated that I don't think the bible is 100% correct, and I belive that there could be parts that are wrong that havn't been disproved yet, I do belive that part of it is true, how can I tell which part? well I can't. I just have to use my best judgment, which can often be wrong, that's why my views may seem to change every now and then, cause I'm learning

Strike Witch 07-28-2011 02:52 AM

Righto.

Jesus really liked Parables, huh? Have they all been fully decoded or are there any that still confuse people?

Heaven and Hell are more or less the same thing. An eternity of anything is hell, be it pleasure or pain.

In the last chapter of The World in 10½ Chapters there's the account of a guy who goes to Heaven. To be Scary Door about it, turns out everybody eventually chooses to die permanently. They've done everything - met every person who ever lived, read every book ever written, eaten every food, watched every movie etc. - and death is all that's left to try.

Show me proof that yo mama exists!!

uh.. nvm.

Actually (at least in context 3 pages ago) that's as good an argument as any.

There is hope for this one. My friend, there is never anything wrong with wanting to be more knowledgeable.

Usually when people are whacked on dope, they tend to mutter complete shit.

The scholars left out the 'giant fucking spliff' part.

STM 07-28-2011 12:41 PM

The Good Samaritan, brothers, at least Jesus talked peace.

Bullet Magnet 07-28-2011 01:40 PM

The Good Samaritan parable was kinda racist.

To be honest, when I've done everything I could die happy. I'd rather just stay alive forever and be around for when the planet blows up though. Either that or see the human race scatter across the galaxy. It really sucks that I won't be able to see either one!

unfortunately I know alot of christens who would avoid learning about anything that doesn't fit there beliefs, which makes me realize something, I've only ever heard 3 points of view, LDS, christen and atheist. And here I am claiming to have made an informed decision when theres hundreds of other religions out there, maybe one day I should actually go to the services of the other religions so I can actually make an informed decision instead of a limited one, but after I move out of my parents so I don't get questiond as to why I'm going to other churches, as far as they know I'm a full blown, bibles perfect christen

Dixanadu 07-29-2011 01:56 AM

I noticed the fiction of H.P Lovecraft is taken very seriously by it's overzealous followers, despite the fact, it was intended to be a story.

The Bible is the same thing.

Wings of Fire 07-29-2011 04:57 AM

That's bullshit. It's much more accurate to say the Old Testament is fables followed by over-romanticized history whilst the New Testament is a ragtag collection of the world's most contradictory eyewitness acounts followed by a lot of diplomatic letters, then finishing with a really weird drug trip.

You really are quite an enlightened young man, you know that?

Don't use the Dark Lord's name in vain. Abdul Alhazred is the prophet of truth, you just aren't enlightened.

But really. Which overzealous followers would those be? The ones in that one South Park episode with the cultists? 'Cause I've never seen someone who genuinely worships the Elder Gods or what have you.

STM 07-30-2011 03:37 AM

There are joke followers, atheists or agnostics who have a sense of humour about the subject of religion. There aren't any true followers though. The books haven't been around for long enough and we still know that the writer wrote speculative/ occult fiction.

This is definitely not a mere fansite.

My recommendation is to wait until at least seven months have transpired before performing the anointing ritual.
Completely serious.

Dixanadu 07-30-2011 07:21 AM

Are you assuming a cult has to be violent or macabre to be...well, a cult?

STM 07-30-2011 07:23 AM

Given the nature of the C'thulu Mythos, in this case...yes. I want to see flayed skins and tortured souls God'ammit.

Dixanadu 07-30-2011 07:46 AM

Well, do it yourself. I'm not on good terms with Cthulhu right now after I left him sitting outside a kebab shop at 5am.

STM 07-30-2011 07:51 AM

You're a dick.

Goresplatter 07-31-2011 01:25 AM

The title of the webpage pretty much confirms it as satire. :p

Dixanadu 07-31-2011 03:33 AM

Oh, come on! Like you could've thought of a better URL name.

At least it gets straight to the point of what it's about.
