I hate to complain about Oddworld already, but I am afraid I must. Stranger's Wrath runs rather slow for me, and I have the same first-person bug. Water has a strange graphical glitch allowing the water's shimmer effect to be seen through all kinds of terrain. There seems to be a slight blur whenever going through in-game cutscenes.
All of this, except the first-person bug is fully excusable to me, and I have not at all checked if my graphics drivers are updated. Just being able to play the game on a PC and hear the new audio is like playing a totally different game. And of course, since Abe's Exoddus works on my laptop now, I feel the OddBoxx was worth it. I have yet to play Munch's Oddysee however. Edit: Ok, it turns out my graphics drivers are incredibely out-dated. Perhaps updating them will solve the problems. |
I can't seem to play Munch's Oddysee. The game loads properly, but my 360 controller doesn't seem to be working properly. I can't walk. All the other actions work fine.
It can't be the controller as it works perfectly on Strangers Wrath. Could this be just an error with the game? |
I just finished download Munch, and it crashes within nearly a minute into the actual game. Also, the framerate is way too fast.
|
Okay I just bought AO and MO. I hope nothing goes wrong :(

MO plays absolutely fine for me, no audio bugs or crashes. Only problems are
a) Can't run-jump while holding two direction keys b) Snoozer's gun is only moveable when holding down the shift key, not the control key. It's like playing finger twister. I can't run Stranger because my graphics card is too outdated to run the min-spec drivers. I can hear the opening vids and navigate the main menu, but it's just a black screen. |

It would seem that after updating my graphics card drivers, SW still has quite a few glitches. There is a sound glitch occuring when you cash in a bounty, where that little build-up sound effect plays while the game adds up your money. That sound effect continues to play even after the game has stopped counting up your money.
Those listed in my previous post still occur. I have yet to try MO, but from what I hear in this thread it does not sound pretty... Still, AO and AE work.:D |

Incidentally, has anyone been able to confirm whether or not the individual games of the Oddboxx are giftable or not? |
With respect to the acheivements; JAW were probably limited to what the game already kept track of internally. Adding things like a counter for the number of steps or items found would likely be very difficult.
I am surprised they didn't have one for reaching 20,000 Moolah though. :
Lorne did say (yesterday, last minute thing) that they were looking in to it, so maybe this is something that can be changed retroactively. |
I love Munch's Oddysee description on steam store page, with

The game works fine for me now, haven't had a crash since that last post :)
I suppose the problem is mostly confined to the starting area. |

Most aren't, they just don't care or they do too little and too late :

Hey guys, if you're having any issues with Oddboxx see this thread: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=19909
EDIT: JAW has taken over the Munch's Oddysee port, so any bug reports for that game can now be sent to them as well. |

@Max
You can gift anything on Steam, just add it to cart, and klick "Cart" button, there should be gift option. |
From OWI's Facebook...
"UPDATE: We have managed to repeat 2 of the issues with Stranger's Wrath. The corrupted fonts and a problem with transparent polygons...they have strange stippled blocks around them. Being able to repeat these means we can trace and fix. With regards to Munch, the developers working on this have managed to repeat the crash in a development environment, which means they can now fix this." |
Holy fuck, Gil just said he doesnt mind games running at 20 FPS. Raise your standards JAW, 20 FPS isn't acceptable for a new game, let alone a 5 year old port.

I interpreted it as him thinking people would be alright with getting that kind of frame rate.

He should know his market though, not assume things.

You have to keep in mind this is JAW's first foray into PC gaming - and I have to say I can see where he's coming from, people are going MAD because ... SW isn't HD?
|
Because its at 10-20 FPS is more of the root of the up roar I think.
|
And how does 10-20 FPS = 20-40 FPS?
I just read through that NeoGAF thread, and they basically spat in his face and chased him off because he doesn't quite realise the lofty standards of PC gamers. Never mind the fact they're working their asses off gathering data for a patch, and never mind the fact they're actually talking to people. |
If by "lofty" standards, you mean a working product then sure.
|
I'm not denying that the port is in pretty bad shape right now. What I AM saying is that Gilray didn't expect people to be demanding 60FPS standard.

I hope they patch Munch soon, I'm more interested in playing Munch through again than Stranger.
|
How's this for quick?
"Update on the crashes in Munch... We believe we've fixed this issue now, but are currently spending a few hours testing to make sure we're not wrong! All being well a patch release for Munch will be out later today. (read tonight for those in the EU)" |
That's good news.

Anyway, instead of making a diagram, they should have just made a list of actions with the keys assigned to them. That's how PC games are. Diagrams work good for console controllers, but not so much for keyboard and mouse. Besides, they might be able to handle pure text, since it's, you know... flash based. |
Yeah, there's no denying that control screen was pretty dire. At the moment, though, I think they have bigger fish to fry.
(and if they want a better control screen I'd be happy to help - I have MSPaint too!) EDIT: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...3&postcount=22 :

I'm hoping they'll release the Munch patch soon.
