I disliked Shutter Island more than you.

Disney as a whole can blow me, Don bluth is America's best animator and even he's pretty hit-or-miss. When it comes to animated films...
England > Japan > America |
What has England done?
Turtles Can Fly. Loved it, but not quite sure about it. |
What has England done?? O.o Come on brah, they've only given us: Watership Down, Plague Dogs, When the Wind Blows, The Snowman and The Hobbit. IDK I always found English cartoons to be endearing and the most genuine but that's just me...
Oh and did you guys here about that 3D, CGI remake of Watership Down with Hugh Jackman as a voice actor? Yeah there really is no such thing as god. |
I'm surprised Ralph Bakshi hasn't been mentioned.
That Ghibli videogame's got some great environments. The creature/character design is pretty meh though. Looks like Pokemon. :

We don't talk about Rankin/Bass
|
They call me Heat Miser.
|
Oh Rankin/Bass, their animation always looked nice.
|
I actually find their animation kind of off-putting, something about it. Dunno. Their animation (I'm strictly speaking about their cel animation and not the stop-motion) had that trademark anime stiffness due to the japanese animators they worked with on almost everything they made.
Thundercats, HOOOOOOOO! As to you, Joe, I much prefer Down To Goblin Town... At least it's actually based on lyrics written by Tolkien. |
Oh Rankin/Bass made this? I taped this off TV one year and watch it every Christmas.
This is the kind of Rankin/Bass animation I like, I hate their stop motion stuff like Jack Frost and all that. |
:
|
Indeed. Stop-motion was 80% of what they did. Granted, after the first like... five stop-motion Christmas specials, I started to get kind of sick of that whole spiel.

Tais Toi!
The movie, not the expression. |
The Happening.
More like The Nappening, amirite? Also, everyone's saying The Last Airbender sucks. Who's surprised? |
Get Him To The Greek.
Funnier than I thought it would be really. Good movie. |
Toy Story 3. I liked it a lot. Not my favorite Pixar movie, but definitely one of their best.
|
I saw that when we were on vacation. I also thought it was very good. Pixar is one of the rare animation studios that can make a sequel with just as much heart and humor as the first movie had.

Hulk Hogan's Suburban Commando. Pure gold.

Moonraker is the best James Bond film, hands-down.

Doesn't seem like that big of an accomplishment to me.

Looks like some bullshit Final Fantasy/Metal Arms fanfiction given awful, bloom filled life. |
Dunno, human race being removed and stuff, super powers, Odyssey and Oddysee. Screw you Mac
|
Why is that in this thread?
Also what Kastere said. |
Scrabtrapman clearly misunderstood that the "I've Just Seen" thread is exclusively for movies and television, and not everything else he's recently seen. If we're doing that now then I have a long list of things I recently saw:
A half-eaten sandwich Pan flute My Labyrinth poster Lamp Glass of water My penis A dead chipmunk Camcorder A corn cob holder An empty can of Dark Dog Eraser Guitar pick Loose change Boombots manual Speakers Eye patch Shall I continue? |

I saw The Last Airbender. It's not that bad. It seems to suffer from a lot of the same problems that the Star Wars prequels did, however. Mainly, horrible dialogue and some bad casting choices. As for the dialogue, I shit you not that Ang's big speech to get the villagers to rise against the Fire Nation was (again, I'm not kidding), "Why are you guys doing this? It's time for you guys to stop doing this".
Still, though. It wasn't terrible. The film does finally hit it's stride. It does this in the last ten minutes, but still, it hits it's stride. |
I hear it's easier to swallow if you don't care about/have not seen the series, which everyone says is really good. I've only caught one or two episodes on TV. Since it's a saga, I never have any idea what's going on in an episode. I can see why people like it though, its certainly better than most Animerican shows.
Every review I read was pretty cut-throat. No one even said "it's not great, but its okay", people are saying it completely and utterly blows ass. |
From the look of one glaring error in Ebert's review, I doubt he's seen the show either.
|
Despite not seeing the show, Ebert still hated it. Alot.
One of the biggest criticisms was the 3D. To date I've yet to see a bad 3D movie, so I may go just to find out what it looks like. |

Looking at it now it looks like Borderlands with a mildly adjusted plot, not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but I don't like the looks of it. I've been watching seasons 3 and 4 of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I guess there's a sale on it at HMV or something, so I'm going to pick up the rest of them (excluding season 7, it's like 50 bucks) this friday. |

Because the latter would include Alice In Wonderland. Going to see that one in 3d (and IMAX, as it happens) was a total waste of time. The 3d didn't add anything and was, if anything, distracting. |
