Nate 07-06-2010 03:28 AM

Why do you say that?

STM 07-06-2010 09:55 AM

That AO cell had meat grinders underneath it. If that's what you mean, there different cells.

Sekto Springs 07-06-2010 02:50 PM

No, I think he means that the Mudokons you see in captivity at the end of AE appear to be in the same cell seen in the FMV where Phleg is "employing" Mudokons for the Soulstorm workforce.

Holy Sock 07-06-2010 02:57 PM

I always thought that a sequel to AE would involve you rescuing those particular Mudokons -- all in magical 2D!

If that's true, then it's not in the brewery but rather out in the desert somewhere. If you look closely though, there are enough subtle differences to imply that it's somewhere else. I presume OWI simply used the same CG model and made some small tweaks to it.

But what's true definitively?

Holy Sock 07-07-2010 04:20 AM

Well, I guess it would have been silly if they have captured all those Mudokons and left them out there...

STM 07-07-2010 08:19 AM

Yeh. I think Phleg started out in the desert but the mudokons at the end are in Necrum. Presumably.

Sekto Springs 07-07-2010 11:14 AM

I assumed Phleg and other glukkons went all over the place in search of a workforce. Enlisting ignorant, native mudokons that have zero tolerance for addictive, processed food products would be all too easy.

Also, it's hard to see, but the Mudokons in the end sequence of AE have their lips sewn up. This implies they've already been processed by their respective "employers", so I doubt the cage we see is outdoors. But then again, it's a very simple image and it's only purpose is to show that there are Mudokons still in captivity out there. It may not even exist, and stands as a broad representation of what all Mudokon slaves are going through.

Holy Sock 07-07-2010 01:06 PM

They didn't have their lips sewn. So far, Abe's the only known Mudokon to have sewn lips.

Wil 07-07-2010 01:10 PM

Which makes all those signs in RuptureFarms a case of serious bullying in the workplace.

Indeed

Sekto Springs 07-07-2010 02:05 PM

They did have their lips sewn from what I could see, but their sutures are much thinner than Abe's. Like actual thread. Notice how he can only crack his mouth a tiny bit to mumble "we're screwed".

I keep watching it and still see no signs on stiches. I think it's the guys at the front who say "We're screwed", but it could just be a slip up in the animation or audio department.

Sekto Springs 07-07-2010 02:36 PM

Watching it on what? Youtube? Its barely noticible even in full quality, I doubt you'll be able to spot it.

I may be wrong, but the point still stands.

Btw, what character is in your avatar? I am curious...

Sekto Springs 07-07-2010 03:22 PM

Lady Margaret, the Glukkon queen. It was sculpted by Farzad, I assume to be scanned, for Munch's Oddysee back before they removed her from the game.

Does anyone know how the bird portals entered rupturefarms and how they seem to to survive? I never thought about this until today!

It's nothing more than a game mechanic...

I expect they gather wherever there is a large concentration of mudokon psychic energy.

Question about AE: why aren't Tunnels' 1 and 2's Mudokons blind?????

Wil 07-08-2010 03:27 PM

The makers struggled with that. They wanted blind Mudokons as a game mechanic, but the only place that should logically have them is Necrum Mines, which is the very first level. Obviously rules of good gameplay take precedence.

From what I remember some Shamans were able to sneak in and place them there. I can't seem to remember why they did such a thing tough.

Holy Sock 07-10-2010 06:45 AM

This may require a long answer. Was wondering what gameplay elements, characters and creatures were changed or cut from AO? I'm also curious about this in regards to AE.

MeechMunchie 07-10-2010 11:53 AM

Two options: Several mile-long posts, or one book recommendation. Hmmm.

Sod it, I'm a lazy bastard.

Sekto Springs 07-10-2010 11:57 AM

The book does indeed list alot of the ideas and story elements that never made it passed the drawing board. Love that damn book.

I have an awful lack of serious funding. I tried to torrent it, but the quality was piss poor and the writing too small.........serves me right...

Our survey says *EUH-EURRRH*! Seriously, we hate that when it's OWI.

I'm glad you said that.

Holy Sock 07-11-2010 06:44 AM

What do Slig's look like under their masks? I heard it was similar to a fly. Is this true? Are there any pictures?

MeechMunchie 07-11-2010 09:21 AM

Again, the book. They have tiny compound eyes, and are almost blind without visors.

Andrelvis 07-11-2010 09:33 AM

What page is that?

MeechMunchie 07-11-2010 09:37 AM

Somewhere in Munch's Oddysee development, talking about Big Bros.

Hey, 2000.

Sekto Springs 07-11-2010 10:44 AM

Sligs aren't even that ugly. I think Glukkons are only repulsed by them as a result of their own oppressive nature.

Holy Sock 07-11-2010 10:56 AM

Maybe that's the joke? Everyone thinks that Sligs are ugly, even Sligs themselves, but they are one of the least ugly creatures in oddworld...

Josh 07-11-2010 11:16 AM

Or you all have a weird fetish.

ODDWORLDisTHEbest! 07-11-2010 02:04 PM

yeah, they are freaky ugly!

MeechMunchie 07-12-2010 07:11 AM

They look like Cthulhu if he really let himself go.
