MeechMunchie 11-27-2011 07:45 AM

Use Flashblock.

Wings of Fire 11-27-2011 07:49 AM

Alternatively, don't post 35+ videos in a single post.

You've just invalidated your right to be indignant of any of my anime posts ever.

MeechMunchie 11-27-2011 07:55 AM

Alternatively, use Flashblock and be prepared in the event that excitable people such as me decide to do something unexpected in the mistaken belief that it won't be an issue by virtue of its rarity.

Also, no I haven't. In any way. I criticise for content, not mass.

Besides, you should just use Flashblock anyway. It's useful.

STM 11-27-2011 09:20 AM

I shouldn't have to use flashblock, nor should I have to install it, just don't post such enormous vidya posts.

No anime no Rayman, we all win.

Dynamithix 11-27-2011 10:30 AM

Yeah, I like Rayman 3's music too, but you don't have to post the complete OST to prove that it's good.

OddjobAbe 11-27-2011 10:36 AM

I played Spyro recently, and I will say that I liked the fact that some of the music feels like it's rooted in ska and related genres, if not in rhythm at least in textural aesthetic. The composer is Stewart Copeland, who I am not a big fan of, but I do think that he competently represented the visual environment with his score.

I'd like to say that I fully support MM's decision to post those videos for the reason that I was not badly afflicted by its highly subtle effect.

MeechMunchie 11-27-2011 10:47 AM

I do acknowledge that not everyone's PC is a cycolopean monolith of processing, and I know this to be true in at least WoF's case. Had I remembered that earlier, I would have kept the number smaller. But nonetheless, I posted less than a quarter of the OST and I stand by my post and the taste it displays.

Wings of Fire 11-27-2011 11:06 AM

Actually my PC is good enough to play Skyrim at high setting. Thirty youtube videos will slow down anyone's browser.

STM 11-27-2011 11:10 AM

Can you just remove the bloody things so I can access this page without internet and MSN crashing?

Wings of Fire 11-27-2011 11:17 AM

See, now that's a shitty machine.

STM 11-27-2011 11:19 AM

Gee thanks, to be fair my laptop is three years old and runs pretty much every game I have almost perfectly. This page is still a problem though.

Okay, screw it. Prepare yourselves, because this is my pick of the 200-track OST. In chronological order:

Excitement and adventure, a good start.

Mischief and magic, a good continuation.

Challenge and trouble, a good change of pace.

Beauty and mystery... I'll try not to do that for the entire post.

FUNK!

Now things are really kicking off...

Kastere's post: Rampage edition.

It's funny, I never realised these were six seperate tracks. Turns out they just merge into each other once you get past a certain point - often only a few seconds away. Makes you wonder if it was worth it.

I've got 1...

2...

4...

and 6.

This game really was pretty freaky, wasn't it? I can think of no other game with music like this.

My fraternal love for violinists may be leading me a little here. Also, a harp!

Genuinely frightening.

The funk's creeping back in again. Don't recognise this one? You were probably too busy trying to kill those fucking mudmen.

Again, not doing wonders for the 'Rayman 3 wasn't that weird' argument.

Yah-hah! Have at you, cad!

Just. Plain. Cool.

It's hard to believe this is from the same game.

Feel my plums

Everyone's favourite; Actually more subtle and relaxed than most people remember.

This is very ambient.

This is even ambient-er. And less musical.

This still gives me nightmares. Seriously.

... But that's nothing compared to this.

The Knaaren were scary, but not as scary.

Nothing says 'Battle' more than didgeridoos!

The Longest Shortcut was interesting. It was quite obviously a sort of training centre for the harder levels to come...

... And yet the music was so relaxed?

Christmas! Also, you're going to die!

Xmas: Xtreme Xedition.

This just sounds like an evil base.

Missile Command! And that funk just won't stay away...

There are sympathetic villains, and there are the kind of villains who have this music playing in their base. Hoodlums are the latter.

In platform games it seems to be obligatory for the music to get all mechanical near the end.

... And then get all techno-synth and abstracted.

The last jetcar section was a mistake, but the music was good.

Everyone's favourite... and they knew it. Hence the supercharged version.

Argh! It's so jolly!

My heartfelt gratitude to anyone who listened to even a bit of all of those. Your threefold reward:

Now let GA play you out to the next thread...

Yes, funk.

Just what I need. Rayman 3's OST is 170+ tracks, so I'm having trouble making a concise playlist. +rep

STM 11-27-2011 11:36 AM

I'm'a find you and stab you.

Mac Sirloin 11-27-2011 11:37 AM

Not with an internet connection like this you won't.

XG2 Hydra Prime level song.

The songs Cat and Dog in one video. Artist is C418.

Living mice. Artist C418.

Journeyman Project Caldoria Heights song.

kapteeni13 11-28-2011 07:54 AM

And Tragic Prince from Castlevania Symphony of The Night

<3 old good classic PS1 OST... =)

Dynamithix 11-29-2011 07:09 AM

I forgot that BG&E's soundtrack is this good.

Chillin' in Akuda bar.

Winning races like a boss.

"Jade! You need a codename." "... Shauni"

Dynamithix 12-04-2011 05:08 AM

Now that I think about it, Runescape had some really good music. I don't play the game anymore, but I still like the music.

I remember all of these. Good times.

AlexFili 12-04-2011 06:45 AM

I love the music from the following games:
Dynasty Warriors, Metal Gear Solid, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Rock Band 3, The Movies

Crashpunk 12-05-2011 06:36 AM

:

Rock Band 3

I don't think that one counts.

MeechMunchie 12-20-2011 12:37 PM

Love this song, may as well post a good vid.

Chubfish 12-21-2011 08:03 AM

Cave Story +'s remastered soundtracks are pretty awesome. I love this track.

Manco 12-22-2011 02:16 PM

This has probably already been covered to death in this thread, but I’ve been playing through Super Meat Boy for the first time and am in love with the soundtrack:

MeechMunchie 12-22-2011 02:28 PM

Yeah, I got the special edition of that soundtrack.

No.2 in your post is my favourite, and I'm learning to play No.1 on the bass.

scrabface 12-23-2011 01:55 AM

pretty cool music for such a lame game

pretty cool music for such a lame game

I remember seeing an advert for this in the UK Official PlayStation Magazine, back in the day.

I recently rediscovered the soundtrack from The Lost World on PS1, and have been listening to it now and again this Christmas period. Having completed my annual 'Home Alone' watching, I realised suddenly that there were several notes from the Home Alone theme present in the Lost World soundtrack for Primordial Forest.
At first I thought it was because they were both scored by John Williams, but it turns out that the videogame of Lost World was scored by the then up-and-coming Michael Giacchino!

Cave Story +'s remastered soundtracks are pretty awesome. I love this track.

I spent most of today trying to track down a complete download of the remastered soundtrack. Turns out it’s actually the music from the 3DS remake, which was composed by Danny Baranowsky.

Anyway, I completed Cave Story’s Perfect ending earlier, and have had the final level’s music stuck in my head:

MeechMunchie 01-02-2012 05:03 AM

MeechMunchie 01-03-2012 12:42 PM

Double post because awesome happened.

Danny Baranowsky is a composing genius of the modern age, a talented musician and quite a good singer, BUT. He cannot do acappella. Observe.

Also this.

Phylum 01-03-2012 02:03 PM

If you like Acapella Rockapella you should hear Waiting for VVVVVV. This is from PPPPPP.

MeechMunchie 01-04-2012 11:42 AM

Pull up a chair and pull out a book. This makes everything seem important.

Crashpunk 01-05-2012 08:57 AM

Ahh.. Listening to this really brings me back to the good old days of Animal Crossing :3 I love the series so much.

I can't wait for AC3D, It's one of my most wanted games.

Yeah, all the dozens of flash videos in one page is never a good idea. Might I propose everyone links to their music instead? As long as everyone adequately identifies what game/track they’re linking, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Anyway, Sonic Generations has an amazing soundtrack. Every level is taken from a previous Sonic game, and every music track is a remix of the original level’s music, usually ten times more awesome.

The boss fight against Metal Sonic has the music from Stardust Speedway, the level from Sonic CD in which he first appeared.

The “classic” remix of Escape From the City is a slower-paced, more light-hearted remix of the original song, which still fits wonderfully.

My absolute favorite is the remix of Rooftop Run. The original music from Sonic Unleashed was pretty boss, but the remix absolutely knocks it out of the park. That violin.

Use Flashblock plugin. Problem solved!

MeechMunchie 01-06-2012 03:53 AM

Or I could stop posting.

MeechMunchie 01-14-2012 01:38 PM

Rattling through this OST at high speed. A sweet nostalgia massage for my ears.

Also check out Toxic Caves and Chemical Plant.

Varrok 01-15-2012 02:31 AM

: D These games' got awesome OSTs, those are just highlights

Phylum 01-15-2012 02:47 AM

I think the next post starts a new page, so someone better hurry up and make it.
