acrylic? very nice colours and brushstrokes.

thank you. I used a screenshot from a movie, but I don't know which one :P there's this blog collecting a lot of screenshots and I always collect them. I used the pencil tool in photoshop for that I am forced to concentrate on colours as I cannot blend them.

ziggy 12-11-2010 11:51 AM

thanks pal, it is acrylic. It was for my painting class I took, and the assignment was to make something with the impasto technique, like Van Gogh. I think some part I rushed on because I had to make the deadline and the floor looks a little flat. I just got oil paints and I like them a lot better.

It seems trying to do that on photoshop (with a kind of cel shading style) would take forever. I personally wouldn't want to go through that torture, but I've never been a fan of photoshop really.

Ziggy, did you do Art in at school/college? Did you study the Impressionists?

scrabface 12-22-2010 05:02 PM

not sure if it fits in here, but I used this old family footage showing my great grand father in Budapest to mix it up with an Aphex Twin music shot. I heard, he was one of the coolest guy ever, but we missed each other as he died in 86 and I was born in 87.

Nice stuff. It looks a little like the H R Giger monsters to me.
@Avenging Gibbons: No I don't. It was just a beginning painting class where we go over a bunch of crap.

A collage I made for drawing studio problems at my school. Something I never really tried before. I like it, but I failed in some things I wanted to do with it because of impatience:

Rabbit's have this way of showing lack of terror, no matter what the situation. Even when surronded by a snake. It's captured exceptionally well there. And the rabbit is so sweet and innocent.

nice

only I am fed up with this guy...

Gwan-Thwei 04-02-2011 03:58 PM

Nice work all around!'
Ziggy, your drawing of a Hydrome was the coolest. I liked the legs, but the fins and face seemed uneeded to me. Then again, I always was a bad judge of design.
Does you have a DA page, ziggy? What about you, Scrabface?

ziggy 04-06-2011 08:03 AM

I do. Would you like to know my deviantart? Would you? That character was made soooo long ago I hardly even remember. I must put up some more creature pen designs here soon as that is what you guys seem to enjoy over more "traditional" paintings.

Scrabface- why are you fed up with this guy exactly?

scrabface 04-06-2011 01:44 PM

fucking mozart, you know I live in Austria and this guy is a tourist magnet and I work in the musik verein where millions of people wanna see the golden hall which is the place where you can see the new years concert and mozart's everywhere. in my skin, in my hair, he's all over the place and OMG we had a Mozart year 2006 and I woke up with his toupee on my head. it was all in the news, someone stole the thing and I don't know what happened, I was drunk, OK?! It's still resting on my Godzilla statue...

Gwan-Thwei 04-08-2011 11:25 AM

@Ziggy yes I would.
@scrabface sounds like a fun night.

My main problem is that I don't tend to make art outside of school. Almost everything I do is done when I'm bored as hell in class. It's a shame really.

Except for this one. I did it at home, using a photo reference and a lot of patience.

I'm the same way. I'll be in science watching an educational vid, and i'll get bored and rip out my drawing pad for some sketching.
My most noteable picture was some hilarious rule 34 I drew in Math. I fixed up the doodle and colored it.
