Ed's (may he rest in peace) account has been hijacked by a fellow mudokon terrorist.

Ed didn't die, Asset 98 died, who was a friend of Ed.

I have a feeling this is going to be canon in the story now as well... Are we going to start the game with 1 casualty?

"follow me"
"No Abe you're a terrorist and a disgrace to Oddworld's greatest ever workforce"
*slap*
"Ok!"

Dammit don't make me almost bust out laughing in public.

Quick question, just to be sure, did Asset 98 really die or is there a chance that he could be the one screaming on the pictures?

What events? When they were "hacked"?

And OWI just got their account back to normal ha i never fell for those flyers soon as i saw the Magog Symbol knew straight away that was them "twisting the truth" i wonder if a slig wrote these on behalf of the cartel?

That would be a sight! a Slig writing these things!
... would explain the grammatical errors though...

I kind of assumed it was a Slig from the start, could still be wrong though, you never know.
Also good job everyone that got those images sorted, I was at work when they came out and I couldn't do a thing. :(

Xavier 02-28-2017 01:42 AM

Sligs are muscles, I wouldn't expect them to come up with something like that.

It would make much more sense to have been written by a Glukkon or even a Chronicler. :)

Varrok 02-28-2017 02:00 AM

I just can't believe those racist things I hear.

Way to give in to racial stereotypes! Especially that they're not true, as even in AE there was at least one slig behind the typewriter.

Please be satire.

Varrok takes people being racist to sligs very seriously.

Some Sligs (like Crig, reporter at the Daily Deception) are actually intelligent.

Vanilla ✜ 02-28-2017 04:16 AM

Also I'm pretty sure a notice like this wouldn't be written and publish unsupervised so I'm sure a Glukkon or Vyker would have had a big say in what was written.

You know me, I'm just bursting with intolerance, close-mindedness and prejudice. :D

Also, we only see the Slig issuing some commands to open doors on those keys.
I'm working with a keyboard all day long, that doesn't mean I'm a writer.

Well he can certainly repeat what he's being told ;)

Vlam 02-28-2017 04:43 AM

Anyway, some people think that it could have been written by a Slig. It is indeed possible. Example:

:

By Crig the Slig

It seems a diet rich in Meech and low in products made from your own species has helped the infamous Buddy reach his long-time goal weight. The real question now is, can he keep the long-time goal for the long term? With Meech being extinct for years now, doctors wonder if he is even eating at all. Skeptics say no. Buddy says, "Pass the Meech please!"

Xavier 02-28-2017 04:56 AM

Indeed, I agree with you, it is possible. There could be more Sligs like Crig that specialize in misinformation instead of armed security.

And gee does it feel weird to have an URL of your own site pushed in your face like that :D

Gunnr 02-28-2017 05:37 AM

Sligs of news reports, of entertainment and now social media. What a day to be ALIVE :p

FierceTheBandit 02-28-2017 06:14 AM

Do we really need Mudokons?
Sligs seem to be able to do anything!

I mean....that's why the plot of the AO happened right?

tmakz 02-28-2017 07:07 AM

Muds are the embodiment of oddworld It is Truth! Without muds there would be no Quintology now that would be abominable to say.

Xavier 02-28-2017 07:09 AM

I remember playing an excellent Oddworld game that had no Mudokons in it.

It was called Stranger's Wrath.

Vlam 02-28-2017 07:14 AM

There were Mudokon Pops in Stranger's Wrath HD!

I believe Strangers Wrath and Abes Oddysee took place in locations far apart from each other, mainly because there are almost no reoccurring species other than the odd few.
Edit: Yeah AO is in the Eastern Mudos and Strangers Wrath is in Western Mudos.

They both took place in Mudos but SW took place in the Western side of Mudos and I think AO is more on the East side

Xavier 02-28-2017 08:58 AM

I was just disputing the claim Mudokons were "the embodiment of Oddworld". I'm not sure what your points are...

TopHattedTime 02-28-2017 09:15 AM

Regardless of who actually did the typing, you'd think they (or their bosses) would make a draft or something first to avoid spelling mistakes... Or perhaps the storm was getting too wild and they needed to get something out FAST ;)

Edit: Perhaps I should do my own drafting too hahaha

kjjcarpenter 02-28-2017 10:37 AM

You guys do realise that Oddworld's spelling and grammer has always been entirely arbitrary, right? For example, phone is spelled "fone", and the plural form of several (but not all) species uses a "z" instead of an "s", as in ratz or clakkerz. Many characters also speak with erroneous and perculiar annunciation.

If you use yer imagination, it's not hard to interpret these errors as a nothing more than a bit of odd flair that perfectly suits the minds of the Cartel.

If I was an ARGer, I'd take a look at those inked-out words. They might be important.

I see what you did there :fuzwink: Also very true about the off grammar, it seems like it may just be in there for flavor, but with this ARG who knows what's going to be important later!

I had gone through the x'd out words earlier to see if anything jumped out, either with the missing/wrong letters or with the words themselves, but I didn't really see anything of note. Just in case it comes back later or if someone else can see something I might have missed though, here is what I got. (it was hard to make out a few of the letters due to the x's but I think these are right)

x'd on left, corrected on right:

Flyer 1: 'mins' -> 'minds'
'bland' -> 'blind'

Flyer 2: 'thsnka' -> 'thanks'

Flyer 3: 'undertaker' -> 'undertaken'
'least' -> 'last'

Clean image is here:

Maybe it's just me but the structure and even some sentences of this article look strangely familiar ;)
EDIT. I wonder why they skipped the part about the Malachim alphabet

Shade_Meadows 03-02-2017 06:18 AM

Those eyes in the reflection are creepy as hell...
