Crashpunk 07-14-2014 04:46 AM

Why did I ever doubt a EU release on the new stuff... :nonono:

Anyway. I'm really happy to hear this, And I cannot express how excited I am to finally play it!

Connell 07-14-2014 04:48 AM

Can someone clarify for me... Do I need the Playstation Plus subscription to be active whilst I purchase New 'N' Tasty, or when Alf Escape and the costume come out? Or will these times overlap?

Also, will I still be able to purchase the Alf levels and the costume individually without this Playstation Plus stuff when they are released? I think I'd rather do that.

Edit: Can we even pre-order in Europe? Or have I misinterpreted this post? I think we just have to buy within the first 2 weeks of release and then pay for the Playstation Plus to get the goodies, right?

I'm quite surprised at the positive response this has had from my fellow Europeans. I appreciate it's probably out of JAW's hands so I'm not blaming them. But fuck whoever was in charge of this at Sony, Playstation Plus clearly isn't selling well in some territories.

Holy Sock 07-14-2014 05:01 AM

Yeah, you can buy the stuff without PS Plus, I believe, but it will cost a bit of dosh. I don't think we are able to pre-order though - since there's no real pre-order incentive. Sony wants us to get PS Plus instead.

jaw_alex, are you able/allowed to explain why the offer is different in the two Playstation stores?

I can't go into specifics, no, sorry.

We've tried really hard to ensure that people get as close an offer as possible, though. I appreciate it's not exact, but we have moved the price to as close to 1:1 as we could, along with making the Alf Mission available beyond the initial period - it's free for Plus subscribers for a two week period when Alf launches, for example.

So, again - we appreciate that it's not exact but we've done what we can. It's still a pretty good deal, we think.

Crashpunk 07-14-2014 05:16 AM

When will the game be available to pre-order in the UK?

Havoc 07-14-2014 05:17 AM

The way I read it, you get the stuff for free if you have a Playstation Plus subscription which costs about 7 Euro for one month. In return (at least I assume) the game itself is actually a tiny bit cheaper in the EU than it is in the US.

But... in total someone in the EU still pays more than the US for the same content (36 dollars vs 30 dollars). Which brings me back to what I was initialy afraid of; the offer is not the same for everyone. I understand this is not JAW's fault, but it's still bullshit.

I saw no mention of pre-ordering in the EU and since the game isn't listed in the EU store 9 days before release, I assume it won't be an option.

Anyway, do you guys have any more info on what the Steam deal will look like? Will we be able to pre-order it there, all content included?

I don't think we can. Instead of pre-ordering and getting the bonuses we get them free if we have PS Plus.

In the US/Canada the bonus is an incentive to pre-order and in UK/EU the bonus is an incentive to get PS Plus.

Crashpunk 07-14-2014 05:27 AM

Ah okay. I've already got a PS Plus subscription so that's all sorted out. Thanks.

So I assume the game will appear on the PSN store on the 23rd then? Or will we get to see the game under the 'coming soon' section? (right now it's not on the store)

AFAIK it'll just appear on the 23rd. Again, apologies for the lack of a pre-order.

Connell 07-14-2014 05:44 AM

Will it be midnight or an unspecified time? (I apologise if that seems like a ridiculously precise question, I'm just eager to get it ASAP as America will be getting it at midnight if I remember correctly)

Also, I'm still a bit confused as to whether the Playstation Plus needs to be active when I purchase N'n'T or when Alf comes out? And will there be the option to purchase the DLC?

Presumably when the rest of the Store updates, so mid-afternoon I think.

Vyrien 07-14-2014 05:48 AM

I'm personally fine with this, seeing as I've been intending to get PS+ for a while anyway. I can understand why people are miffed about it though.

STM 07-14-2014 06:02 AM

I love how the Alf content isn't full on DLC by the by, but rather it encourages people to buy the game sooner rather than later, it's a really good way to get people to buy NnT asap without people feeling like they're only getting 80% of the game.

JennyGenesis 07-14-2014 07:27 AM

Yeah that is good, look at Fallout 3, you had to the buy the DLC to find out what happened after the explosion at the end of the game.

Holy Sock 07-14-2014 07:34 AM

Well, to be fair, that Fallout 3 DLC was made primarily because many players were pissed off that the game ended and didn't allow you to explore after.

Connell 07-14-2014 07:43 AM

If I can wait and give JAW 7 euros for Alf's Escape I will. I'd rather give JAW money toward it than give Sony 7 euros for some subscription I don't want. It would be very nice to have it confirmed I can do this though.

Or can I just send some money in an envelope or something for a code. I feel a bit stupid, but I'm still quite confused as to what the deal is with purchasing Alf's Escape.

I'm not saying that the original game and ending is good. But as I look at Broken Steel's ending, I'd pretty much prefer that the DLC never existed

It seems that if you have a PS account you can just download the game, Sony probably assumes most people who have a PS4 have live, or whatever their equivalent is. I don't want to spread misinformation but that's what I have gleaned from what's being said.

Sekto Springs 07-14-2014 08:33 AM

I don't have any money right now.
Somebody buy it for me so I don't hate Oddworld forever.

Trying to make sense of this haha, here goes:

So I can pre-order for PS4 directly from the SEN UK website, without owning a PS4 at the moment, secure the bonuses and simply wait for the PS3 version to be released? I'll get the game on both platforms, with the DLC for each, to download and play on PS3 release day, and PS4 when I eventually get one?

If this is the case, awesome! Can't seem to find anything about New n Tasty on the UK SEN website besides a couple trailers however :fuzconf:

And a price drop too! A lot of respect for JAW/OWI for keeping the exchange rate in mind with pricing!

Holy Sock 07-14-2014 09:25 AM

No, you cannot pre-order if you're outside the US or Canada. But you can buy the game and the bonuses from SEN UK website or the PSN network when the game is released on 23 July and play them on your PS3 when that version is released.

JennyGenesis 07-14-2014 09:28 AM

Cut a long story short, work has messed up my holidays, and instead of giving me a day off the day after nnt comes out, they have given me the day off on the day it comes out, which means, instead of working in the day and coming home in the evening to play it, I will be checking the god damn playstation store every 5 minutes, and even when it is finally on the store, I gota wait for the thing to download and install. Fuck my life. I could easily sort this out with work, but I just really cannot be bothered sorting it all out just for a game.

Together you are correct except for the following:

1. Despite what was on the official site, you can also pre-order in all other SCEA territories: Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chile and Columbia.

2. You need to have PlayStation Plus subscription when you buy New 'n' Tasty, and it has to be within two weeks of the PlayStation 4 release date.

3. Alf's Escape may or may not be released when the PlayStation 3 version of New 'n' Tasty come out, but regardless you'll still be able to download it for free at the earliest opportunity.

Other than not knowing how much Alf's Escape will cost, yes, you can buy it as DLC separately when it comes out.

If Playstation Plus costs a little extra money (a monthly fee?), I bet that'll irritate a few people unless they're getting it for more than just N'n'T. Will people at least get to keep their access to the game if their subscription runs out?

(Makes me sort of glad I'll be waiting for the Steam version. I don't mind buying the DLC if they're putting it on the PC later.)

Thank you very much for clarifying, Wil. I will not be purchasing Playstation Plus in that case. Just a shame we couldn't get a pre-order offer that had it free with it like the US.

Seconded, but at least they've been able to work something out in the other territories too.

Thanks for the help Wil!

JennyGenesis 07-14-2014 11:56 AM

The PS Plus thing don't affect me. I had a 12 month subscription with my PS4 bundle.

???

I'm sorry this is such a first world problem

Goddamnit I wish it was coming to Steam soon!

I am honestly so hyped now I can't wait for the release date.

I still owe you one. Remember for that book? On which system do you need it?
It would be a shame that you can't hear yourself in the game ;)

You will keep it when your subscription expires. It is stated at the end of the article on Oddworld.com.
