I've not seen the third Toy Story, but I adored the second.

Mr. Bungle 11-02-2012 09:12 PM

The third is the best of the trilogy. Easily. Might even my favourite Pixar movie.

Possibly the worst Pixar film since Cars 2?

Get the fuck out!

Mr. Bungle 11-02-2012 09:45 PM

Be careful not to cut yourself on that edge Nep.

Who mentioned adverts?
Anyway, I like the old Pixar stuff, like Monster's Inc and Nemo, even Toy Story 1, but I don't care much for the recent stuff.

Varrok 11-03-2012 02:42 AM

Oh, man, and I thought *my* opinions are controversial

Nepsotic 11-03-2012 08:14 AM

How could you forget that?

OANST 11-03-2012 08:17 AM

I didn't really.

You missed "possibly"

Just saw Skyfall in the theater. My faith in Bond movies has officially been restored. Skyfall is the actual proper reboot of the James Bond franchise. It re-introduces all the elements that are traditional in a Bond movie for a new audience, while also occasionally hinting back to the older movies. The Aston Martin from Goldfinger was a very nice touch.

Great movie! Go see it! :D

Daxter King 11-03-2012 09:39 PM

Damnit, it doesn't some out here till next week, can't wait.

Crashpunk 11-04-2012 03:36 AM

Don't even talk about Toy Story 3! You have to be made outta fricking stone not to feel anything at the end - especially if you were the right age when you saw 1 and 2. I can just remember watching it at the cinema and seeing half the audience crying towards the end.

One of the best thing about that film was how they made Andy the same age as the majority of the Toy Story 1 and 2 audience, it was like he grew up with us and that added to the emotion at the end.

Sekto Springs 11-04-2012 09:11 AM

Fun Fact: the kid who voiced Andy was the same in every movie, so he actually did grow up with us.

I watched John Carpenter's The Thing again. This might have been the ninth time I watched it. Also re-watched Drive. Very good movie.

Mac Sirloin 11-05-2012 09:51 PM

I watched Not John Carpenters The Thing. The new The Thing. The Thing with The Girl and The Norwegians.

I literally thought it was perfectly acceptable, good even, until they just stopped using any puppetry/props entirely and focused on a bunch of CG monsters that were various flavours of tentacle/appendage with a mouth slapped on it. Basically just made me think "Wow I sure do wish this was the good version of this"

Dynamithix 11-06-2012 03:33 AM

I thought it was decent. Watch out, Sekto heard us.

Sekto Springs 11-06-2012 06:37 AM

That's because you have shit taste and I hate you.

Nepsotic 11-06-2012 07:23 AM

I thought it was great. Obviously not as great as the first one, but still pretty fucking amazing.

OANST 11-06-2012 07:50 AM

I only liked the original 1951 version. And I'm not being funny.

Varrok 11-06-2012 07:52 AM

We know ;)

It was watchable, nowhere near amazing though. It had its moments but wasn't really scary.

Sekto Springs 11-06-2012 08:18 PM

I watched The Hole, a throwback campfest directed by Joe Dante. For those of you not familiar, Dante is primarily a visual effects director, his repertoire including Gremlins and Small Soldiers.

I recommend The Hole for fans of his previous work. The movie is basically a feature-length episode of Goosebumps with better production values, which is why it's awesome. It's like all the best elements of Gremlins, Phantoms, Paper House, and Child's Play rolled into one.

Screencap enclosed.

This was the first version that I saw and I alternatively presumed it was some iteration of Frankenstein or Invasion of the Body Snatchers up until the end credits. It feels a lot less claustrophobic and miserable. I'm guessing it wasn't the intention of the time, but it feels more like a thriller or mystery than straight up horror.

Steamer_KING 11-07-2012 08:31 AM

I've just re-watched "Låt den rätte komma in".

I get it. It's about a man who wants to be a possum, right?

OANST 11-08-2012 08:09 AM

It's such a rip off of Kafka.

Dynamithix 11-08-2012 11:35 AM

Watched Notorious, the film about Biggie Smalls. Entertaining movie.
