For the record, if I had gotten to this thread before T-nex, I would have given OANST and OddMan360 both infractions. Consider this an official warning instead.

Man, when I read the title of this thread, I expected stuff like this.

Edison is the OG retro master.

This.

Anyway I feel a boner coming on for how much of this thread I've missed! I've recently moved to Sacramento, CA and opened up a shop restoring retro/vintage electronics, so I'll post a few highlights from my facebook files which I've worked on in the past couple of months:

1957 Westinghouse. Set was blowing fuses. Also, that little record player to the right of the TV.

1961 Silvertone, powered up with no picture. This is a shot of it with my test pattern generator hooked up.

1952 Zenith Cobra-Matic record changer. Dig the cobra tone arm and two fangs hanging over the bottom?

Fun, fun!

Damn you have some cool stuff Pilot. I'm loving them TVs. :)

Just picked this up today, a 1959 Philco Predicta "designer" television. The screen swivels on this baby.

A 1952 Zenith chassis shown out of it's cabinet I finished restoring recently. Laserdisc of Thomas Dolby's "Live Wireless 1983" performance shown on screen.

Remember to save one of those for me, Justin.

I should've posted that earlier.

Ever wondered what came before game cartridges? Consoles with only one game... PONG!
You won't believe how many variations there are. It boggles the mind!

Crashpunk 05-24-2012 02:41 AM

I have a really old pong machine but I can't get it to work on my TV.

also I love the AVGN. :)

RoryF 05-24-2012 12:30 PM

I've never had such trouble on getting Windows 98 to work before.

Pilot 05-25-2012 08:48 PM

Are those your own videos oddman?

RoryF 05-26-2012 06:55 AM

Yep, although I still need to do some on other pieces of 90s computer stuff that I own. I have a Iomega ZIP Drive somewhere and an old Compaq inside of it's original box that I bought not long ago. I have a VHS player and a CRT TV in my room that still works as well, it had some colour issues although all the problem was one cable had rubbed up so much over the 11 years we've had it and it needed replacing. Works fine again now though.

Retro Technology II

I'd imagine people have gathered more old items or more people would have old items to post here. Must be technology though, typewriters do not count as retro, it's vintage.

As always, I have more stuff to post, sorry for the crappy VGA quality photos, I had no batteries for my camera so a DSi had to take it's place temporarily.

First, I managed to pick up a Commodore Amiga with it's stuff, pretty much all the hardware it came with however I had to substitute a Sega Master System RF to ANT signal output for it to work on the oldish tv I have. Unfortunately I don't own a WorkBench disk so I only have 2 games to play and they are demos:

Next, I now have an Atari Lynx. Everything including all the original packaging and official carry case. Very large for portable, it takes 6 AA batteries and this is the second model. The first is wider. I have quite a few games:

Here are the games in their boxes:

Oh and finally, here is the disk with the two demo games I have for the Amiga. It has 'Arcade Pool' and 'Universe' on it. Both good games:

I have order SimCity for the Amiga off of Amazon, I can't wait...

Laser 07-30-2012 01:26 PM

There was a first one of these?

Varrok 07-30-2012 01:35 PM

Unless you were being sarcastic, http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=20757

Laser 07-30-2012 01:35 PM

I was away from OWF during the birth and subsequent death of the original.

Varrok 07-30-2012 01:45 PM

Unless you were being sarcastic, okay then :)

Crashpunk 07-30-2012 01:53 PM

There's no need to post what I own again. But for those who don't know I am a retro game collector and I currently own a NES, SNES, N64, Megadrive, Megadrive II, Playstation, PSone, PS2, Gameboy Colour (*2) and a Gameboy Advanced SP.

Next on my list is a Dreamcast, I really want to play Jet Set Radio :)

RoryF 07-30-2012 01:59 PM

I know where I can get 2 dreamcasts, but I can't really be bothered to get them. I'd rather have a ZX Spectrum or a Commodore 64 instead. (Computer guy :P)

Crashpunk 07-30-2012 02:02 PM

I've always wanted those as well. But I have no room to put them.

RoryF 07-30-2012 02:07 PM

Found the Super Nintendo, two of them, the box looks pretty cool. I always thought the UK ones were the same as the US models, they look really wierd. Last time I played on one I swear it was a US model.

Also, wtf is a "PC Engine"? I found one but I didn't take it, it's NTSC and some of the video signal pins are bent. -_-

Nate 07-31-2012 04:50 AM

Are you serious, OddMan360? The most recent post in the original thread was only two months old. You were still able to post in it!

*merges*

RoryF 07-31-2012 06:58 AM

I'm sorry, I thought it was appopriate to make a new one because it was two months old, there's nothing on here that says when one it out of date and to make a new thread about it when you want to continue. :/
