More Twitter shenanigans, this time not from me:

You'll be glad its on Steam when these things are patched, you won't have to do anything and the games will automagically update ;)
|
Well, now I can play Stranger's Wrath if I play with the Low graphics. It's all fine and dandy, but I really want to play on Medium/High with no lag.
Also, the first two times I quit playing SW, it said "Game Application.exe not working.", but it seems like it fixed itself. Overall, I'm enjoying SW because it feels like I'm playing it for the first time again. :) |
Just a quick question for those who have downloaded the games: When exactly did you download them? Was it as soon as the Steam pages were up for them, or later?
I'm just wondering in case early downloaders had some problems with their installation. |
Steam-error
Munch runs fine except for some random crashes. Also the keyboard controls just don't work for me, I wonder if I could get my ps3 controller to work with it (I only have wireless xbox360 controllers so I can't connect them to my computer)
Stranger is another story though, whenever I try to launch it, it tells me that the game is currently unavailable, I tried to verify the integrity of game cache (which went well) and tried to defragment the cache files (which also went without a hassle) but it keeps on telling me that the game is not currently available... :( |

Stupid, I know, but it's worth checking. :
I don't know much about PS3 controllers though. |
MO's crashed for me too. Twice. I haven't even made it out of Raisen's cave yet! The first room! It crashed when I walked around the edges and tried jumping up the wall, and then when I put the game on the second time, it crashed when I jumped and fell off the wooden platforms and crash landed on the ground below.

Remember: for Munch's Oddysee issues DO NOT CONTACT JAW - they had nothing to do with the port.
I'm not sure who you would contact instead - I'd recommend @AbeMudokon, @Oddmobb and OWI's Facebook for now. Also just got word from the internet (SW): :

PS3 CONTROLLER driver for Windows 7! Hope people find this useful. It let's you use your PS3 controller as a controller for PC. I'm going to install it now and try it out. |
Haaaaaah, nice to read that having to wait till the PS3 release won't be such a bad thing. Tough luck for all you guys wanting to play Stranger in a decent way though.
|
You could also try Pinnacle Game Profiler, which works with most game controllers and lets you use them in games without built-in support.
You'll probably still need to get the drivers for your controller though. |
@AvengingGibbons:
I tried using those, they're a bit wonky, but it has no use, Munch crashes every 5 seconds now... and stranger won't booth. Even though my specs are more then good. windows 7 64bit i7 with 8gig ram Ati 5750 |
If JAW won't patch Munch, who will?
My MO crashed twice already, I only got like 30-40 spooce and then it crashed. The same thing happened when I was chanting the gate. Otherwise, Munch for PC looks amazing somehow, I think it looks and controls a bit better than SW. |
^^^We've currently got nothing to go on about MO - I've tweeted JAW about this, see what they say.
:
I did read a theory that ATI graphics cards aren't working very well here, but that's just anecdotal. EDIT: Here's some good news for you guys: :

Don't know, for me it crashed the first time when I was in the first cavern jumping on the ledges and the second time when I jumped and started to chant the gate.
Also, what exactly is a 'null pointer'? |
JAW has said they'll pass word about Munch's Oddysee on.
Also, just to confirm something: :
:
|
MO crashes after a few minutes jumpin around.
|
:
Apparently Munch has more customisation than Stranger in terms of controls, by the way. Keep checking JAW Ltd.'s Twitter feed guys, that's our best source of info right now. And make sure to CONTACT THEM with any bug reports you have: :

I haven't experienced many issues; I crashed once in MO (problem Paul pointed out) but other than that MO is fine.
Stranger's Wrath runs awesomely; the framerate does drop occasionally so there is some sort of issue anyway with it, but it's fine to play for now. Controls were only very slightly finnicky until I got used to them but it's all fine now. Kinda offtopic, but Paul, what is your Steam name? =P |

Well I just tried it again; I started from the beginning. I can prove that I've left the cave since I have the achievement for it; however it crashed for me when loading Spooceshrub forest (nearer the end).
Would upload pictures videos but for now http://steamcommunity.com/id/Chubfis...b=achievements check my achievements too sleepy to care for today. |
I'll have to wait until my new video card arrives to be able to play these on a PC. Hopefully it won't be too much longer; I might just buy them now so I don't miss the sale.
|
This is an absolutely shameful port. I have no idea how this got passed testing and quality control.
|
Is the opening cutscene for Strangers Wrath broken for everybody else? Right near the end it cuts out.
Apart from that the game plays well with my 360 controller, hopefully it's optimised more and made PC friendly in patches, but right now it works for me so I'm happy. EDIT: I take that back, the game freezes when I get to the town and the opening_end.bik movie is meant to play. The game is literally unplayable for me. I also suggest not charging for the graphics update next year, you're not going to win fans on the PC platform by charging them for updates, take the Valve approach and release it for free. Good publicity. |
Charging for an update for any PC game is stupid unless it's like a full blown expansion pack or something. The only reason companies like Activision charge for simple map updates in the Call of Duty games is because they can't stop eating money.
|
Its a good thing that they will NOT be charging for any updates then isn't it? That would be mental :P
|
Changing the properties of Munch.exe to match this http://i.imgur.com/J9UN7.png might help those who can't get past the first stage without it crashing. It made the problem less occuring for me.
