Trying telling the smoking population to kick their habit for global warming.

The debilitating issues of that "plan" should be immediately obvious to anyone who has actually stopped to think it through for five seconds. As SM says, bullshit.
|
Yesterday I was on a mountain; a low mountain but near a very high and snow mountain. The distance was a few kilometres. And at about 3 P.m. the temperature was 13,5 °C. Now tell me if it wasn't an effect of global warming. I hate seeing snow melt on mountains. And I think yesterday snow was melting.
|
There’s nothing wrong with snow melting. It’s when a glacier’s rate of ablation exceeds its accumulation of glacial ice that we should worry.
Putting a huge ice cub in the ocean would be disasterous. All that freshwater melting into the oceans would weaken the thermohaline circulation ever faster than current glacial melt does. Might up the planet’s albedo, though. Forgive me, I’m being examined on all this is a few hours. |

I apologise but why are we even talking about all this?
I don't think we can solve the problem... |
:
We are the human race. If we must go down we go down fighting. |
AlienMagi, how does your defeatist attitude work out in the long run? Just curious.

Oh and please next time PM me for questions like that. |
He means that constant pessimism will only get us further into this mess.
If we can't be prepared to try new things we'll never get out of the hole we've dug for ourselves. |
Oh Okay... So you are right but we shouldn't just talk about it.
We should do something... but what? My point: Lets think of what we could do to slow global warming down. |

(that's what I meant) |

Really? Really really? Really really really? Read closer then. |
What is your problem wings?
Anyway I didn't read whole thread! |
:
AlienMagi, you can find everything you need in the thread. Anyway we will tell you it. |
Okay... I'll read it then...

Awesome my first post!! Let me just say ahead im a specialist in this area, for as far as that goes for a 16 year old student. I've seen An Incovenient Truth, which is a lecture given by Al Gore. It's shocking, terrible and something has to be done. All manner of natural glaciers are vanishing and water levels are rising. Several billions of dollars are spent every year, which could have been spent on cool stuff like a cheaper economy (sweets háve to get cheaper!), so I intend to change it, when I grow up. if i ever do XD.

Ok, Sticker. Thank you for posting here. Now I want to attach some images of glacers. Very big glacers. But I want to show you with these photos, what is going on on glacers. In the images that I will post, there are two photos: one of about 70 years ago near a photo of a few years ago. The first I want to show you is of Adamello-Mandron Glacer. It was enormous. Now it does not exist.

That was on the Al Gore slideshow to!! How did you get that? But anyhow, your right and ladies and gentleglocks ^^ this is just the tip of the iceberg... oooops wrong metaphor. There are loads of exampels, but this is by far the most touching:

Watch it and cry for it. |
*sighs* It's real sad aint it? Anyhow, I intend to really do something about this, and I mean that (ladies and gentlemen, savor this moment. I'm serious!). Oh and btw, Abe is now I love your signature can i plllllz use it? *cute puppyeyes*.

A new image about glacers melting. This is Kilimangiaro's glacer from 1993 to 2000.
Anyway I sent you a PM for my sig, Sticker. |
And there so many solutions!! Geothermal energy, weight of water, tidal energy, solar energy, biomass, kinetic energy usage. And im just an noob in this field, experts have loads of ideas. if only that could go public huh? But anyhow, my intention is to become a famous writer some day and then start giving monthly lectures.
|
There are no miracle solutions. While it is true that there are human oppositions and apathy hindering progress, they have more than their fair share of issues that have prevented their widespread execution.
