Slaveless 04-03-2006 11:51 AM

I have another question. This may be already answered, but when glukkons were supporters of the mudokons, how did they help the muds? They can't really use their arms, so did they once have mystical powers like mudokons? Or did they controlled sligs?

Wil 04-03-2006 12:28 PM

I don't know about supporters, but they lived peacefully alongside one another.

As for their bodies, there is a popular idea that the accident that nearly wiped out their race is responsible for the malformed body they have today, but actually I don't remember that ever coming from an initial source. The first place I saw it was on an ancient fan site.

Bullet Magnet 04-03-2006 01:58 PM

Oh, I know waht my problem was. I was looking at the wrong page. I'm sorry, were you discussing something?

Malformed body? Hell no, the Glukkon physiology is perfectly formed. They are clearly evolved from sprinting creatures. Those arms look like they would be good runners. The legs are vestigal, for whatever reason. It all went downhill once their "intelligence" appeared.

Cullen Heath 04-04-2006 09:34 PM

Hello, can somebody please tell me what this is? It looks like some kind of script for Munch's Oddysee that was never used.

Also, please answer my question about who is the voice in the Oddworld DVD.

Alcar 04-04-2006 09:49 PM

That's not a real script used by OWI, it's part of a fan based effort: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showpo...&postcount=114

Alcar...

Cullen Heath 04-04-2006 10:04 PM

Ahh, okay Thanks Alcar!

Do you know who was the man in the Oddworld DVD whom was playing Stranger's Wrath and speaking to us is? Is it Lorne?

Also, does anybody have an idea on what the Shaman's real name is? As Max said, he might have abondoned his real name for his job as being a Guide, but that's not a fact. I think he still has a name.

Xavier 04-05-2006 12:20 AM

it's lorne that's comenting most of the trailers and things like that ;)

Bullet Magnet 04-05-2006 10:01 AM

Here's one for ya.

In SW, Castaraider says "it's a God damn steef!"
In Oddworld linguo shouldn't that be "Odd damn steef"?

Am I being pedantic about this?

Xavier 04-05-2006 10:51 AM

there are gods on oddworld... the shrykull is a half god ;)

Alcar...

Eeek, for a sec there I believed that was an official script by OWI, but I noticed it seemed too dramatic.

Wil 04-05-2006 12:59 PM

That line annoys me. It should be Odd damn, IMHO.

Wow, that surely must be going back a bit.

Bullet Magnet 04-05-2006 01:28 PM

Of course, "Odd damn" doesn't sound as dramatic... The line would have to be changed more for the same effect.

Does anyone worship Shrykull? Or is he just a legendary character.
Scientificly, how do you explain Abe's Shrykull transformations?

He's the one playing Stranger's Wrath too, right?

Sekto Springs 04-05-2006 06:53 PM

I actually think he said "God dang". Perhaps Lorne is trying to avoid complaints from the more devout gamers.

used:) 04-05-2006 07:33 PM

I like the use of "God damn," it helps to build the reflection of a red neck setting.

Cullen Heath 04-05-2006 07:34 PM

Yeah well, doesn't Blisterz say "Awww Damn!" when the Fuzzles are gnawing on his Rifle?

Bullet Magnet 04-06-2006 06:12 AM

Don't prospectors say "dang"?

If prospectors aren't western style, I don't know what is.

That would be a good theory - if the game didn't have multiple mentions of the word 'shit'...

Bullet Magnet 04-06-2006 08:47 AM

I think by devout, he's talking about either seriuos Oddworls fans who find "Odd damn" offensive, or Christian fans who find "God damn" offensive.

Whoops...

Nate 04-06-2006 08:49 AM

I think he just either forgot, or didn't want something that would stand out as unnatural-sounding dialogue.

Sekto Springs 04-06-2006 05:41 PM

Less people would be offended by 'shit' than 'god damn'.

And yes, Booty does say "Aaaaw DAMN!" from what my ear gathered, but you'd be surprised how poignent adding the word 'god' can be to some people.

Cullen Heath 04-06-2006 07:37 PM

Can anyone give a link or direct me to the website where this Elum video is at?
I just read a bunch of discussion about some Elum video, and from my understanding, Xavier, you're in it?

Any help would be great.

I have been pondering what the queens are derived from. I always assumed that Sam was based off a termite queen, but do any others of you have any ideas of what Skillya and Maggie are inspired from.

And can anyone supply some screen shots or pictures of Tex please?

Cullen Heath 04-06-2006 09:58 PM

Maybe Maggie might be based off some type of Centipede, but those are just my thoughts. Nobody has seen Skillya, and I don't think that we have any sort of description of her, so we can't really say untill we do get some more info. I am very much looking forward to seeing what she looks like, though.

As for Tex, this is all that I have for ya. Sorry Used, I was meaning to get some shots of him from the Auction, but never got around to it.

Bullet Magnet 04-07-2006 03:06 AM

You are obviously thinking of the orange pic of Maggie. In the Art of OWI, there is a different pic, accompanied by a sculpture of her head. That one is like a mountain of flesh with hundreds of teats hanging down, and a cruel face. She has the use of her arms and is carried around on the backs of a troop of Kinto Slaves. I think those are Glocktigi in the background...

I'm in what???
the only video I've been in is Marilyn Manson's VideoClip for "This Is The New Shit"

the elum video has been removed I believe, but I still have it somewhere. Luckily, there are plans to upload some lost videos on TOL ;)

Thankyou Cullen. Ah good, some other of my favorite industrial characters as well.

Is anyone else finding that you getr a huge window when you click on an attachment?

Bullet Magnet 04-08-2006 08:42 AM

Here's one. In MO, many Glukkon offices (like the windmill temple) had a dart board with a picture of Abe pinned to it, a nice touch, but the rooms always say "Private" or "no entry". How then did the darts get on the board? what possible use could a Glukkon have for a dart board?

Just because it says no entry, isn't to say Sligs weren't the ones who put the office together. Glukkons aren't capable of manual labor. Also, the glukkons could be violenty spitting the darts at Abe's mug.

Or, in a more likely endeavor, OWI added it for fun and didn't take the time to read into the complications of how a glukkon can throw darts - because it doesn't really matter. Just like the Meep Ranch, the Pud's chalk board clearly displayed the equation as to how Meeps make moolah (as well as a marginal message displaying his dislike of Munch). How did the Pud write with chalk? Who cares?

Xavier 04-08-2006 09:05 AM

excellent observations... I think it's more something OWI did for fun.
if you want an in world explanation: let's say it was done by some personal slig gards that sometimes have to help the gluk or guard his office when he's away.
