The answer to your question is a resounding hell yes! Of course you should continue, provided you want to. Your work looks epic and amazing and I'd love to see more!

Didn't you say you used a program to convert the MO models to those Minecraft statues?
Continue, by all means, but I think it's important to mention that. |
Holy. Fuck.
|
I...erm....hm...
YES CONTINUE WITH IT! |
This.
Is quite amazing,do continue with your work. |
Holy shit - Yes! Do continue!

One of the best Minecraft videos I've ever seen
I really wish play-models looked like this, The Minecraft skins are so boring. |
That was really well done - But it's a shame it's impossible to do anything like that using Minecraft's engine. The person who made this is obviously a whizz with Maya and the same story could've been illustrated using different graphics and monsters...
Then again I guess it's Minecraft theme adds to its charm and makes people interested in it I suppose. |
Wow, I've never appreciated Depth of Field effects before.

This seemed like the best thread to post this.
The Yogscast are making a Video Game...yep Yogventures! What's this go to do with Minecraft you ask? Well read about it. It's pretty much a complete Minecraft rip off. I can't believe they are doing this. |
It's not strictly a rip-off of Minecraft. The focus isn't on singleplayer or multiplayer sandbox like Minecraft, it's on creating and sharing adventure maps. This has only been an emergent feature of Minecraft, not something that's really been fostered by Mojang. That's started to change with spawn eggs, but it's little and late, and implemented after the Yogscast were already plotting Yogventures.
|
While reading that, to be honest, I thought it was rude to potentially steal away Notch's subscribers. They're already on shit terms with Notch so I'm starting to think this game has something to do with it.
|
Looks shit.
|
Well it in pre-alpha so of course it looks shit. And yeah the game is pretty much a middle finger to mojang and Notch, They honestly think that they can do better then minecraft and the sad thing is, they might. All because of there subscribers giving all the money they have to them for a chance to play as Honeydew and dig a hole? I fucking hate the Yogscast community, you should see there forums. It's really sad to see what the Yogscast have become, Money-whores. They know that they have power and fame, They know that there subscribers will fork out $250,000 and support anything. They must make British people out to be right arseholes.
On the other hand, If this game is actually really good, if they say that it's heavily inspired by Minecraft and if they do become more famous because of it and not show off and brag just like what Mojang did, I support them. But that's unlikely in my opinion, It just looks like a big 'Fuck You Notch' |

I like the sound of it. I had a similar idea for a MC mod to improve Adventure Maps, because quite frankly they're shit right now. I wanted to add wireless redstone blocks, checkpoints, AIs that converse with you, map properties that determine which blocks are breakable, new decorative blocks and some other stuff. I'm waiting on the API to see how doable these things are.
I think this will be a shit game nonethless. I can't see it working out well. |

I'm one of the people who know about Minecraft's limitations first-hand when it comes to making adventure maps. It's why RF is currently on hold while I think deeply about things - I'm bitterly disappointed with it's limitations and know that I cannot possibly make what I want without some heavy modding. What will end up being done will be a lot different from what I first envisioned.
I'm guessing the Yogscast crew feel the same way as I do when it comes to adventure map making. If they think that they've identified a niche, then good on them for attempting to go for it - And I hope for them that it's successful. |
I think it's disgusting that you play as Simon and Lewis but other than it seems fine (if ugly at this stage) and not really like Minecraft at all.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the Yogscast doing this. In fact, I think all my misgivings come from the feeling I have that the Yogscast are deserting Minecraft, and that's just plain silly. Good luck to them, I say; although I prefer the challenge of creating adventure maps with limited capabilities, so I don't think this is something I'd enjoy. |
Actually you can (or will be able to, in the finished product) design your own avatar, or take a default one from one of the characters in the yogscast.

I do support them however, not just because i'm a fan. The concept art looks nice and looking more into it and reading what you guys think, It isn't a blatant rip-off. It's just the first looks were a bit dodgy what with it's similarities to Minecraft and what Simon said at the end of that video. |

Also, MC had its influences too. I'm cool with a chain of unique games that may or may not have influenced each other to some extent. |
There is a massive community project called YouAreMinecraft where you can make a giant model of your Minecraft skin on a blank model. It's the real way to say thank you to Notch and Mojang.
You can join the server at server.youareminecraft.com. Type in /start to get started on your model. It ends on the 19th April so get cracking :) |
You just made me join that :D

Survival mode?
|
Nope, creative,it would take days to make a statue in survival during the week XD
|
Yeah it's creative.
I finished my skin and I think it looks pretty good. I'm surrounded by really weird skins though. One of them appears to be on fire. :fuzconf: http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/235...0413211015.png http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/9...0413211136.png |
