I started playing Dark Souls to take the piss out of the awful PC port with friends, hated everything about it. The terrible last gen graphics, the dull, samey level design. Then at one point sort of halfway into the game (around Anor Londo) something clicked and I ended up absolutely loving it. I'll definitely be getting the second one.
I'm still trying to work out if it's Stockholm syndrome though. |

Thanks Varrock, now it looks beautiful. I guess I might have to play through again now. |
Oh, just a heads up on that fix... it does nothing for Blightown. It's still horrible to go through.

I have been playing Rayman Origins on the Vita lately. I beat the game almost 100% late 2011 on Xbox, but I wanted to play it again in preparation for Rayman Legends (which I'll hopefully get as a Christmas present!). The game looks very lovely on the Vita screen and it runs so smoothly, very good port.
Oh yeah and League of Legends has been eating up a lot of my free-time even though I don't play it that much anymore. I have made quite a lot of progress though, I went from Silver division to Gold in a pretty short span of time (Gold II division to be precise, Gold I is the highest and next comes Platinum). |
Plants vs. Zombies, again. It's one of the few games with a well-made New Game+.
Fuck that Zen Garden bullshit, though. It's not Zen if you've tied it to the slow, tedious pursuit of upgrades. Whole thing smacks of artificial attempts to extend the game length. |
Got Rayman Legends and Dragon's Crown (both on Vita) for Christmas and have been playing both a lot today. Really, really like Rayman, it has a shit ton of content and plays very smoothly. Dragon's Crown definitely exceeded my expectations, I didn't even know you can get different weapons and have AI allies helping you, it's awesome so far.
I also downloaded the new Walking Dead episode, jesus christ that was some heavy shit right off the bat, can't wait to see how Clementine will grow as a character. Also, if you play it, don't play it in the same room as your family members, there's a scene that involves stitching and lots of unpleasant screams which my mum did not approve of. |
Hello. The most time i am currently playing Minecraft Playstation 3 Edition. And sure i play all parts of Oddworld :)

Shadow Warrior. A remake of the classic Shadow Warrior, which was a Doom styled game created by 3D Realms.
First things first, the sword mechanic is the best I've ever seen. You can chop enemies up into little bits, perform various combos and destroy literally everything that comes at you. Every kill you make with the Katana is soooo satisfying The game is fucking nuts. It throws tons of enemies at you, the levels are maze like and have secrets everywhere, The character you play as keeps cracking one liners and have so many references scattered everywhere, such as Arcade machines with other indie games on them. To put it simply, it's a bloody great homage to Shadow Warrior and a extremely fun experience. |
The remake of Mickey Mouse: Castle of Illusion. It's a great game, improves on so many of the original's flaws without any of the new features looking out of place.
I've also just finished Bioshock Infinite. Such an amazing game but the ending angered me. this is one of the few instances in which I am pro-incest I don't care |
Picked up Rayman Legends with some of my Christmas money. Simply put, it's fucking awesome. You can tell they really took a careful look at the best things in Origins and built it into something better. I like that they did away with the constant doors in-level, even if it's a small thing. It makes the experience more unified, more like exploring a jungle rather than exploring scenes form a jungle. There's generally more of everything, more lums, more teensies, more levels. There's even a Back To Origins section where you can unlock levels from the previous game, reworked with more teensies. They still have the old door system, and it wasn't until I played one of these that I realise how jarring it was.
The platforming is as tight as ever. Once you get the feel for how sensitive the jump button is you can really start to race through the levels. I beat the first world in no time, rescuing enough teensies as I went to do it all in one go. I haven't found anything hard yet, but every level has been a challenge. It's a really great balance, but I'm really hoping it picks up soon. I have too many hours of Origins experience to squander my time on the basic levels. The daily challenges are really engaging. I could have spent hours yesterday grinding away to get into the diamond cup in a timed descent challenge. I had to settle for a gold, placing 107/~1500. Not so bad for my first day. They aren't the hardest challenges, but there's definitely a lot of depth to improving times. I love that you can see the ghosts of a select few similarly ranked players. I know I've picked up a few tricks already, and have seen a few things I can't quite copy. Everyone who likes platformers should own this game. If you're not sure try the demo. |
Probably gonna pick it up tomorrow if I can. You just convinced me. First one was great but there was definitely some room for improvement.
Is there offline co-op this time? I assume no. |
Haven't tried, but I'm pretty sure that's all the same as Origins.
e: Actually there's a soccer arena mode called Kung Foot which is solely devoted to offline multiplayer so I figure it still works. |
Shit, I meant to say online. I need sleep.

I played through Rayman Legends. Man, I kind of feel disappointed, Rayman Origins was definitely a more coherent package, Legends just sort of feels like a mess. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous and very fun to play kind of mess, but still, it's just so random in a way. I enjoyed it a lot, but there are a lot of things keeping me from really loving the game like the weird creature system, the online challenges and the goddamn Murfy levels. Oh yeah, and call me crazy if you want, but I sort of liked the little story Origins had going, in Legends it's just the same stupid Dark Teensies running away and you have to punch them to space. Even the same stupid scene is repeated throughout all the main worlds, I did not like that.
|
You have to admit some of the Murphy levels work pretty well, when it's adding another layer of decision making to a timed challenge. I think I'm referring to one invasion painting from the first world specifically, but I can't quite remember. The cake levels are a huge pain in the arse though.
As much as the lack of story hurts it, Legends is a better game. It did lose some of the charm, but it's just better. Also what's wrong with the online challenges? D: |
New thread. Enjoy!
