I missed the indie game thing because I was out (watching Datsik and Flux Pavilion and then getting off with all the bitches which is a lie), but I did watch the documentary that was on before it on 4OD, it was basically Gameswipe but it was still pretty good.

I watched The Devil's Carnival last night. I started out being pretty disinterested in it. It just seemed like a quirky, horror/comedy that wasn't very well executed, and I've seen enough of those to not be all that impressed by it. Then I started to hate it. The plot didn't seem to be moving, and the songs were annoying. Then it started concentrating on the three individuals who were trapped there, and what their individual punishments would be. The songs started getting....interesting, and the movie just got better, and better, and better until I fucking loved it, and half way wanted to start it again as soon as it was over.

I guess it was made by the same guys who made Repo: The Genetic Opera, which I haven't seen, but probably will now.

Edit: This is probably my favorite song from the movie. Some of the other ones are a lot more interesting, with much more impressive singing, but this one is just all atmosphere. The man's son died, and in his grief, he took his own life, which condemns him to hell, unless he chooses to not make the same mistake in the carnival, which is like a testing ground, or last chance to not be eternally damned. All of the stories are based on Aesop's Fables, this one being Grief and His Due. I recommend watching at least this song.

I watched Kick-Ass 2. What a cluster fuck of a movie, not good at all really.

Mr. Bungle 12-05-2013 05:25 PM

Damn. I had a feeling it would turn out the way. I love the first one to death.

Yeah, he plays Colonel Stars & Stripes, some ex-mob guy that started a superhero club and it plays a relatively big role in the movie, but it wasn't anything spectacular. Maybe I panned the movie a bit too hard, I mean, it was sort of enjoyable but compared to the first one it's really bad.

Mr. Bungle 12-07-2013 09:57 AM

The first one was so good. Hilarious and stupid but heartfelt and meaningful.

Dynamithix 12-07-2013 02:20 PM

I know, I really like the first one too.

MeechMunchie 12-07-2013 04:49 PM

If you ignore the jetpack, sure.

OANST 12-09-2013 06:54 AM

Joe is going to dick slap all of you.

Wings of Fire 12-09-2013 02:47 PM

Why? I liked the first movie.

I despised the comic, but the movie was good.

MA 12-09-2013 02:50 PM

i watched Jaws for the millionth time. the collectors edition, whatever the fuck that means. i love it, great atmosphere, and it's fucking funny too.

Wtf, the jetpack was easily one of the best bits. Ridiculousness overdrive, that's what that whole climax was about I think. And it worked.

You liked Kick Ass, but hated Scott Pilgrim?

I didn't really have an opinion on Kick Ass. It kind of bored me.

I might have been half-drunk when I saw Kick-Ass, also I read the comic first so I probably liked it better because it wasn't the comic. Also Chloe Grace Moretz.

If it makes you feel better, I'll go read the Scott Pilgrim comic and despise it. I'll even include a paragraph rant on how offended I am it's always put in the manga section of my local bookstore. Just for you.

OANST 12-10-2013 07:55 AM

Yes. Get on that.

I wouldn't really say that. Most of the film seemed to be about introducing superheroes as this bizarre underworld beneath everyday society, entirely limited to what a freak with a penchant for violence could actually achieve. The concession to something as totally implausible as a jetpack really broke one of the driving themes of the movie.

"Ridiculousness overdrive" would work in plenty of superhero movies, but not one that goes to great lengths to make everything as mundane and human as possible.

Saw The Hobbit. Here's all you need to know: The dwarves have a Benny Hill style chase scene with the dragon for about forty minutes which culminates in (and I'm not kidding here) the dwarves building a 100 story dwarf statue out of molten gold that they tricked the dragon into getting close to so that they could drown him in it. You then have angry, solid gold dragon who, even though the dwarves ARE RIGHT FUCKING THERE WHERE HE CAN EAT OR BREATHE FIRE ON THEM, decides that it would be more painful for them if he flies to lake town to kill a bunch of people that they hardly know.

This movie was three hours of stupid.

Varrok 12-18-2013 07:07 AM

I don't remember THAT from the book.

OANST 12-18-2013 07:14 AM

Tolkien was pressured by the gold industry to remove it, as they feared it would cause people to view gold plating animals in a negative light.

Wings of Fire 12-18-2013 07:35 AM

So what you're saying is Peter Jackson has legitimately ruined my cherished childhood classic?

Fuck that guy.

OANST 12-18-2013 07:41 AM

Buddy, he didn't ruin your cherished childhood classic. He mouth raped it, while beating its face with a hammer until the only way you could recognize it is by reading its name tag. Every part that was actually in the book was sped through so quickly, it becomes painfully clear that Jackson only likes the parts that he added.

Actually, it sounds painful on both sides.

OANST 12-18-2013 12:12 PM

That's the only way he can get off now.

Varrok 12-18-2013 12:15 PM

He has to be careful not to get his *dick* off

OANST 12-18-2013 12:19 PM

It's especially hard to do since he can't really see what he's doing around all the folds of fat that are suffocating the child he's raping.

Varrok 12-18-2013 12:29 PM

By the way, the kid must be dressed as a hobbit. Fucking hobbit is what really turns him on, apparently

OANST 12-18-2013 12:31 PM

I thought that was too obvious to mention.
