Based on engine lingo that was revealed when Paul was working his magic way back when:
Feeco 1 Path 1 Cam 1 Mines 1 Path 7 Cam 11 Cams are literally the camera points, and all have an associated background. A collection of cams is a path. Paths are linked by special doors, and are sorted into bigger areas like the Mines. |
Cheers. That's something that has always nagged at me every time I sit down to replay AO or AE (just finished AO again for the gazillionth time, and have started on AE). I have no life...
Alcar... |
Sounds like a good enough life to me.

Here's a question. Where does the final bird portal in SoulStorm Brewery bring Abe? Which place is that? Is that Necrum?
|
I'm with Nate on this one, and as for the air guitar, I think it's just a joke about the Slig only just realising that he's on air and he's busy messing about with his microphone. Much like Aslik when he shouts "Those stinking slaves!"

That part in the very beginning with the toggle mine, the three regular mines and the Sligs in the background. I fucked that up like 10 times in a row and had to go back and save the Muds in the secret area every single time... I love you Abe's Oddysee. I hate you, Abe's Oddysee. |

Okay, here's one I've been wondering about for 17 years:
What's up with thay nose-like thing that appears on Abe's face during the AO Shrykull scene? I'll add a screen of what I'm talking about when I can get to a PC. |

Here's the screen: http://puu.sh/aByh2/3c388efe2b.jpg |

That's just some light trick...
No seriously are you really thinking there's actually relevant going on there? |
That cutscene always bothered me. Abe suddenly appeared in the Free Fire Zone with the Shrykull power. But then afterwards, he was back in Mosaic Lines and had to travel back to the Free Fire Zone.
The New 'N' Tasty scenes makes so much more sense. |
Do we know he's actually in the Free Fire Zone? It could be that for some reason he's on the top of the Monsaic Temple, and it's already dark outside.
But yeah, I agree the scene in NnT makes way more sense. |
The Scrab conveyor belt cutscene is also much better than the one in AO, methinks.
|
Nostalgia tells me it's lacking Abe getting saved by a mix of his clumsiness and fate.
|
C'mon, Xavier, nostalgic about an Oddworld game? Peh!
Ah well, I think falling down that cliff is sufficient clumsiness and fate for me! |
Perhaps. But to me it looks a lot like Free Fire Zone. Not just because it's night, The sky looks pretty much identical to the Abe's Moon scene.

Really a remake of that exact scene in New n Tasty would've contained the only possible new insight into that small detail, that's the reason I brought it up being in the remake. E: You guys also realize that the entrance to the Monsaic Lines is only a few hundred feet away from where the free fire zone ends, right? I still agree it doesn't make too mcuh sense that he's suddenly outside, then back into the temple, then right back outside, especially when that specific Shrykull use was to get past enemies and bombs blocking your bird portal exit from the temple to the free fire zone. |
Can anyone post a screenshot of Monsaic Lines' landscape where I can see a Meech or something of Meeches?
|
http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2...c/cb/Meech.jpg
Unfortunately, I think that's the only official art that's been released. |
I mean that perhaps in Monsaic Lines it's possible to sight some meeches statue/ruins.
|
Oh, I misunderstood your post. As far as I know there are no such statues.
|
That's true, there is not any statue in Mosaic Lines, or any hand stone message that mackes mention to Meeches.
|
The only reference we have to Mudokons honouring Meeches is from Dear Alf, which is notoriously unreliable.

Ok here's an easy question why didn't Elum Chubs posters appear in the corridor where Abe was working at the beginning of AO?

Long answer: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=21697 |
How long was NnT's exclusivity deal with Sony? One month, am I remembering it correctly? Will we know PC release date soon after that?
|
30-day console exclusive. Doesn't cover PC. We could have released PC before for all they cared, but the PC version takes longer because it has to work on any configuration of PC, plus have a whole bunch of extra features.
You won't know the release date soon. We won't know the release date soon. We've got a few rough estimates, but declaring estimates is always tricky because people take it as an expectation. |

But it's Unity. It's supposed to be easily converted to other platforms. Especially PC. And Unity is like, extra compatible with like, any PC.
|
Yeah, Wil.
But seriously, Varrok, it may be easier but, with a 17 man team or so, porting games can be quite time consuming. |
It is easier. In a lot of ways. But it won't magically know what assets to pick for which graphics settings, and it can't auto-generate the art and design for a keybinding menu. Those are just examples, there's more than that. Easier doesn't mean there's no work to do.
|
Seems legit.
Just don't Munch this, take your time. |
For the love of everything don't Munch this. A simple Unity port could take next to no time, but a good port that is optimized might not.
|
JAW didn't really do the Munch port, though. You should say don't Stranger this.
|
I don’t think that’s even applicable here, because there’s a huge difference between the circumstances of the Stranger port and the NnT port.
