How could you forget that?

You missed "possibly"

Just saw Skyfall in the theater. My faith in Bond movies has officially been restored. Skyfall is the actual proper reboot of the James Bond franchise. It re-introduces all the elements that are traditional in a Bond movie for a new audience, while also occasionally hinting back to the older movies. The Aston Martin from Goldfinger was a very nice touch.

Great movie! Go see it! :D

Daxter King 11-03-2012 09:39 PM

Damnit, it doesn't some out here till next week, can't wait.

Crashpunk 11-04-2012 03:36 AM

Don't even talk about Toy Story 3! You have to be made outta fricking stone not to feel anything at the end - especially if you were the right age when you saw 1 and 2. I can just remember watching it at the cinema and seeing half the audience crying towards the end.

One of the best thing about that film was how they made Andy the same age as the majority of the Toy Story 1 and 2 audience, it was like he grew up with us and that added to the emotion at the end.

Sekto Springs 11-04-2012 09:11 AM

Fun Fact: the kid who voiced Andy was the same in every movie, so he actually did grow up with us.

Dynamithix 11-04-2012 09:14 AM

I watched John Carpenter's The Thing again. This might have been the ninth time I watched it. Also re-watched Drive. Very good movie.

Mac Sirloin 11-05-2012 09:51 PM

I watched Not John Carpenters The Thing. The new The Thing. The Thing with The Girl and The Norwegians.

I literally thought it was perfectly acceptable, good even, until they just stopped using any puppetry/props entirely and focused on a bunch of CG monsters that were various flavours of tentacle/appendage with a mouth slapped on it. Basically just made me think "Wow I sure do wish this was the good version of this"

Dynamithix 11-06-2012 03:33 AM

I thought it was decent. Watch out, Sekto heard us.

Sekto Springs 11-06-2012 06:37 AM

That's because you have shit taste and I hate you.

Nepsotic 11-06-2012 07:23 AM

I thought it was great. Obviously not as great as the first one, but still pretty fucking amazing.

OANST 11-06-2012 07:50 AM

I only liked the original 1951 version. And I'm not being funny.

Varrok 11-06-2012 07:52 AM

We know ;)

It was watchable, nowhere near amazing though. It had its moments but wasn't really scary.

Sekto Springs 11-06-2012 08:18 PM

I watched The Hole, a throwback campfest directed by Joe Dante. For those of you not familiar, Dante is primarily a visual effects director, his repertoire including Gremlins and Small Soldiers.

I recommend The Hole for fans of his previous work. The movie is basically a feature-length episode of Goosebumps with better production values, which is why it's awesome. It's like all the best elements of Gremlins, Phantoms, Paper House, and Child's Play rolled into one.

Screencap enclosed.

This was the first version that I saw and I alternatively presumed it was some iteration of Frankenstein or Invasion of the Body Snatchers up until the end credits. It feels a lot less claustrophobic and miserable. I'm guessing it wasn't the intention of the time, but it feels more like a thriller or mystery than straight up horror.

Steamer_KING 11-07-2012 08:31 AM

I've just re-watched "Låt den rätte komma in".

Mac Sirloin 11-08-2012 08:05 AM

I get it. It's about a man who wants to be a possum, right?

OANST 11-08-2012 08:09 AM

It's such a rip off of Kafka.

Dynamithix 11-08-2012 11:35 AM

Watched Notorious, the film about Biggie Smalls. Entertaining movie.

GLaDOS 11-08-2012 11:39 AM

Just watched The Bravest Warriors Episode 1 on Youtube, it's not a TV series, only airs on Youtube, and it's quite short. It was created by Pen Ward (Yes, another cartoon) and it's funny. The comic is good too.

EDIT: Wrong thread

I've been watching Adventure Time

I'm currently at "Her parents", from the second season. It's a fucking good show. Way too random, but good.

Mr. Bungle 11-08-2012 09:04 PM

Just watched The Cart Boy, which is a predaccesor to Trailer Park Boys. Thought it was really well done for a ten minute film. Surpringly moving.

Dynamithix 11-08-2012 09:33 PM

Meh.

Mac Sirloin 11-08-2012 10:02 PM

I can't believe I'm saying this, but based on that trailer I'm going to go ahead and declare that the book was better. It's entirely possible that the movie itself is actually 'Reporter goes around post WWZ and interviews important characters from across the globe' but it doesn't seem likely.

Also, that weird LARPing guy at my job has the same hair as Brad Pitt.

Mr. Bungle 11-08-2012 11:24 PM

Apparently the entire internet agrees with you. I haven't read the book, but every time that this trailer pops up somewhere, all the fanboys start raging because "zombies don't run".

scrabface 11-09-2012 06:05 AM

I watched Michael Haneke's Amour yesterday.
it's about an elderly couple which is in love. she then slowly dies. very simple - the set is mostly their apartment in paris.
thinking back, it was a very hard film to watch, seeing someone simply dying. it will happen to everyone of us, but it's still such a hard experience. the film works without sentimentality but it will haunt you.
has anyone yet seen any of his films?

If I hear that sustained honking noise one more time I swear I'm going to find Inception's sound designer and shove his mixing deck where the sun don't shine.

Nepsotic 11-09-2012 08:59 AM

It's funny how at the beginning, they don't give a shit when someone smashes their wing mirror, and they're still not arsed when there's massive explosions at the end of the road.

Sekto Springs 11-09-2012 09:50 AM

I'm so sick of zombies.

I think the creature of the Black Lagoon's time has come.

Manco 11-09-2012 11:39 AM

I’m still waiting for mummies to become the In Thing. Seems everyone keeps saying they’ll be next, but they never are.

Varrok 11-09-2012 12:33 PM

I've just watched the Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Big Picture Show movie (it's a cartoon big finale). I have completely no idea how on Earth I could possibly skip this. It was great. No, better than that. It's a perfect ending, so fulfilling. Man, this movie was so great.

Mr. Bungle 11-09-2012 12:59 PM

I was thinking about that last night, was unsure if I wanted to watch it or not. Glad it's good.

Man, Ed Edd n' Eddy can't be bad. Just doesn't seem possible.

I love Conan.

So has anyone seen Wreck-it-Ralph yet? Apparently it's quite good.

Sekto Springs 11-09-2012 10:40 PM

Actually I've heard it's pretty generic.

Dynamithix 11-10-2012 12:43 AM

I'd like to see it but apparently it's not coming to Finland (and most of Europe) till around February 2013. Damn it.
