Also it sounds gimmicky and tacky.

I think Abe's Oddysee HD is a bad name since it implies it's the same 2D, screen-scrolling game with its bitmap graphics updated to HD resolution, while in fact it's a complete remake, with 3D graphics and scrolling, with slightly different levels and altered gameplay. In fact, an HD version of Abe's Oddysee (as in the same graphics with HD quality) isn't really impressive in today's standards. That name would be quite misleading the disappointing.
Personally I like Abe's Oddysee Redux suggested earlier that thread, it give the right impression and it sounds cool. The pun-ny title names sure are clever, but they don't fit the dark nature of AO. It's box-art material. :P |
Ok then how about Abe's Oddysee 2.5 Oddimension?
|
Or just Abe's Oddysee 2.5? Sounds cool.
|
Without the D it sounds like there's been an Abe's Oddysee 1, 2 and 3, like RE 2.5.
|
But RE 1.5/2.5/3.5 weren't actual games, just betas, and you're right, it does make it sound like a beta.
I've successfully added 28 suggestions, I want to add at least 2 more. Because then it would be a number ending with a zero and would put my mind at ease. |
Oddworld: Abe's Oddventures
Oddworld: Abe's HD Memories: Oddysee Oddworld: Abe HDfied Tales of Oddworld: Abe |
Damn you. Your ideas gave me a new idea and now I'm on 31. Fucks sake, now I'm going to have to think of another nine!
|
You make Nepsotic think. You MONSTER.
|
Oh, fuck, just call it Oddworld.

ABE'S IN THE WOODS

Oddworld I
Name all of the remakes and future OddWorlds in roman numerals for the hells of it, kind of seems cool to me. Then again it may end up getting rather redundant. /: |

I.a?
What does that mean? I would have though that II would be appropriate since it is the second game in the series even though it's not part of the quintology. |
Sorry, I should have made it I.b for Exoddus.
My point was that people get confused about which games are the official Quintology sequence. If the main games are I, II, III, IV, and V (or I.a, II.a, III.a, IV.a, and V.a), it will be clear which games fit with which. Also, I wasn't actually suggesting they would be good names. |
I.b/a is for maths questions. I like I.5.
|
Reminds me of Assassin's Creed. The numbered games (1,2,3) are new characters and timelines, whereas the subtitled sequels in between carry on the story of that character.
I did also suggest 'The Oddworld Quintology: Part 1' a few days ago, which is similar to using numerals I suppose. I like it because it gives the series almost a storybook feel, and in many respects Oddworld is like a dark fairy tale. It would be clear which games are part of the quintology, and the bonus games could fit the AC model. For example, everything under the 'part 1' moniker would be Abe, 'part 2' would be Munch, and so on. Perhaps something like 'The Oddoworld Quintology: Abe's Exoddus' could follow, to show it is a continuation of the first character and not the beginning of the next. Additional games like SW would work nicely as they are (as in 'Oddworld: title') as it shows they are related to the Oddworld franchise but not Quintology characters. |

I think the way it was was clear enough, to be honest.
Having the quintology games titled 'Oddysee' and the and the bonus games titled 'Exoddus' was an excellent method. The only people confused by that seemed to be people that were only newly aware that the 'quintology' even existed. Stranger's Wrath was really the only thing that threw a spanner in the mix because of the introduction of a new character without it being a new iteration of the quintology or a bonus game featuring any of the quintology characters. Even then, though, if Oddworld kept making games it would've become more clear as more games with the 'Oddysee/Exoddus' title convention were released. As far as titles go, so far I think 'New 'n' Tasty' and 'Ground Up' have been the most fitting suggestions. Something with 'odd' in it seemed okay at first, but the more I think about it, having it in a word on top of 'oddysee' would be odd overkill. |
ODDVERKILL
That's my name suggestion, by the way. |
I actually think all these suggestions are just going to make them more confused.
Just call it Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee HD and be done with it. |
Oddworld: Abe Re-trOdden.
|
:
Also, bear in mind that the post you're quoting suggests that 'Oddworld I.a' would be a good title. I'm worried that you're taking it seriously. |
If they do, they should hire that French bloke in Fan Corner who remade FeeCo depot.
|
Oddworld: Bigger, better and uncut
Oddworld Zero Oddworld Three Double-D Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday On a serious note, I like Jim Sterlings idea of 'Jonathan Holmes' Warty Member' or 'Man I'd Really Love To Give Jonathan Holmes My Wetness' or 'Jonathan Holmes And The Magic Dildo' (or 'Abe's Oddysee Reprocessed') |

I spent a portion of the second half of today finding a way to import the name suggestion emails into Excel. It was surprisingly easy, but it gave us a chance to look at some of the suggestions. I kid you not, one was "Abe's Sexy Tapes" and another was "Sligs Gone Wild".
Anyway, there were nearly four thousand suggestions when I left work today. Fuck knows how we're going to look through them all. |
:
|
Or better yet: look at all suggestions made by Jordan and ignore everything else yes goodbye
|
Or y'know just pick Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee HD.
|
:
We all posted ideas here for the world to see, no doubt in good faith it was first come first served with titles! Would be devastating if we were wrong, as someone is bound to have copied them / had the same ideas by now! |

JAW, maybe give just the name... Oddworld. Yes! Or The Oddworld. Abe's Oddysee is the beginning and it invites audience to the depths of this dark place. It's simple, and not at all is necessary for giving everyone and everywhere the "Abe's Oddysee" hint. Also, AOHD is going to welcome many many new people to the series. "Oddworld" is minimal but very mysterious and deep.
... Welcome in Oddworld... [sound from the old paramonia temple intro] |
2013: The First Oddysee
A parody of 2001 : A Space Odyssey, 2013 relating to the year of release however I think the number really should relate to the year in the Oddworld universe. |
The deadline was today or something right? When will we hear about who won?

I know I am late to the party but I'd simply call it "Oddworld: the first oddysee"
