I'm fine with otakus and I'm fine with bronies. I'm consistent with what I'm fine with and not a hypocrite. |
Says the guy with a testicle for an avatar.

Genius. Its even got the tube and everything!

Though anime fandom sucks most of the time too. Not as much as MLP. But it does. |
Oh.
You're a bitch. |
Bite me, ponyfucker.

I'm sure we were a forum without memes, we were much better than that.
|
Not if I can help it.
|
I just want to point out if I can't have a non-pony avatar anymore, I'm not having one at all. Yeah! take that!
Also I completely agree with Strike Witch, expect I hate the show and the fans. |
Someone needs to make him a Crash Bandicoot style MLP avatar... Then we can force it onto him and chant "One of us! One of us! One of us!"
|
I don't really like ponies here either. I've just kind of accepted that they're still gonna hang around for a while, but it's depressing 'cause I used to feel this is the only site I could go to to get away from the sparkly little bastards.

Another forum I go to actually banned pony gifs from being posted in non-pony threads, since it always caused such an uproar. |
I wonder how ponies could really cause such an uproar... I suppose this may be art shifted in a new directions. New directions always cause uproars. Kind of like Modernism.
|
I have not seen the cartoon in question, but I am severely sceptical that an animated children's programme centred around talking ponies emobodies new artistic horizons. I am also very sceptical of the comparison to modernism, to the point where I think you may have been joking.

Ponies cause an uproar because people want it to. All I did was change my avatar, it was everyone else who followed in tow that made it into a big deal.
|
I watched it. As horrific as it is for me to watch, its... Strangely addicting...
|
What does it addict you to?

I also didn't like how that episode with their 'halloween' and Princess Luna ended... She simply accepted her fate of being a feared icon just because people find it fun :( What if SHE wants to have fun? HM? Did anyone ever think about HER feelings?!?!? Fuck... Im getting all emotional here. |
:
And I agree with "Nexy', the show just seemed too... Surreal. Pinkage and furryness keeps me watching though. |
MLP is on the same level as Powerpuff Girls or Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends in quality. That is to say, it's just a decent cartoon, but a decent cartoon seems pretty amazing when stacked up against the expectations everyone has for a show that's supposed to be for little girls.
Lauren Faust's philosophy is that just because a show is for kids, doesn't mean it has to be vacuous and dull. Because My Little Pony has a long-standing reputation stemming from previous generations of the show, people make the assumption the new gen must be just as insipid as it's predecessors. In fact, it's the other way around. As for Luna, if it makes you feel any better, the other ponies have a lot more respect for her in later episodes. :P |
Powerpuff girls doesn't have enough pinkage and furryness though. I used to like Imaginary Friends though.
