Versus 03-10-2012 10:39 PM

I wonder to see a flying slig or some flying sligs in different parts of the scene. One slig may situated near camera and some others may be placed behind the trains. It means that they will be farther and of course smaller. If you will make them in 3D, it wouldn't be a problem. )

LauricGK 03-11-2012 01:42 AM

Yeah, good idea, I'll think about that...;)

LauricGK 03-11-2012 05:14 AM

By the way, here is something I've done a long ago

http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/5...mudokonpop.jpg

(I didn't find yet the version with less contrast, but I have it)

I used to say I'll use it in the final scene,
But right now I'm not sure anymore...Let's think about that too !

Versus 03-11-2012 11:19 PM

Do you want to add a banner near any boiler? If so, I think that it would be dirtier. And of course two lanterns must light up the top. )))

LauricGK 03-12-2012 08:35 AM

Don't worry, I love make pictures dirty :D

LauricGK 03-15-2012 10:27 AM

Okay, does anyone could tell me how much "fingers" does have a flying slig (as a mouth...? ^^) ?

I would say 4 but not so sure about that...Need your knowledge! Thanks !

DarkHoodness 03-15-2012 10:47 AM

Sligs apparently have 5 face tentacles. Take a close look at the concept art.

LauricGK 03-15-2012 10:50 AM

Yeah, I think you're right...

So, I'm now doing a 3D flying slig. Stay tuned ! Pictures soon ;)

LauricGK 03-16-2012 11:58 AM

Okay, here are the news ; This afternoon (Now 9.00pm in France) I had an express zbrush formation ; I didn't use it before so I had to...read some stuffs and lessons about it.

Then I started the flying slig mod, it's actually pretty good as a beginning, I'll show you tomorrow.

LauricGK 03-17-2012 06:55 AM

Here is a first basic mod from Zbrush

http://www.affectueusement-votre-eco...o/r19-pres.jpg

Still working on this base
I'm using the Zsphere system as you can see...I discovered it with Zbrush yesterday ^^

Fartuess 03-17-2012 08:12 AM

Looks promising.

Oddey 03-18-2012 01:36 AM

I like the way it's looking.

LauricGK 03-18-2012 07:36 AM

Thanks for your following

Keeping studying the software

Hi, I'm usually lurking and posting on the Mods & Hacks and I wanted to ask if I could use your feeco trains as BG objects in some screens of my AO hack ? (and, of course, put the link to your facebook page and giving you the credits for your work...)

Something like this...

http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...h/ecotrain.png

I'll delete everything replace them with something else if you want. I won't publish this level against your will.

JennyGenesis 03-19-2012 12:11 AM

Please give him permission!

Skychase's levels are amazing!

Versus 03-19-2012 01:54 AM

LauricGK, the slig proportions are very good!

LauricGK 03-19-2012 10:08 AM

Hi,

Yeah of course, no problem.
I didn't make the train for side views, so I think it's kind of ugly for me, but if that's enough for you, well, do what you have to do ^^
Thanks for the credits ;)

skychase2rebirth 03-19-2012 11:51 AM

Thanks to you ^^

LauricGK 03-31-2012 06:05 AM

Okay, I just came back from few days of fun, but now, let's get back to work
I believe now I'm in the good way
Waiting for your opinion ? :)

Sekto Springs 03-31-2012 07:39 AM

The tendrils are good, but everything else seems wrong structurally. But it's certainly better than anything I could do with 3D sculpting tools, so I don't feel right giving you critique.

Varrok 03-31-2012 10:32 AM

It's all about proportions, each one element is done good enough, but some parts (tendrils) are too small/short and some like belly are definetly too big... Just stick more to the artwork you posted above and it should be ok

LauricGK 03-31-2012 12:22 PM

Noted about proportions.
But don't worry about the too big belly, etc, building the body was not the priority actually, I was focusing on the head ; So Varrok thank you, I just made the tendrils bigger, longer actually, I'll show you the result.

I can say now that the fingers are going to make me crazy, I can feel it ^^ I'm feeling good now with Zbrush but I'm still a beginner so...!!

LauricGK 03-31-2012 12:43 PM

(Sorry for the double post)

Here is an update
Working on the body (Arms later)

http://www.affectueusement-votre-eco.../r19-pres5.jpg

Body sculpting in Zbrush is really, really, really fun ! Can't believe how much I missed before I discovered this software oO

STM 03-31-2012 12:58 PM

Now that looks fantastic.

Varrok 03-31-2012 01:00 PM

It's better, keep improving!

LauricGK 04-04-2012 06:37 AM

Noted !
Next step, working on the metal parts. This is not going to be animated so I think I'll simply add the helixes/rotors (moving, so) on photoshop for the final composition.
I also added some more skin details ; I'll add more and more ;) Texturing will be fun, can't wait !

Ah, please, don't watch the arms, not good yet ^^

http://www.affectueusement-votre-eco.../r19-pres6.jpg

See ya!

Varrok 04-04-2012 06:48 AM

Just saw that on facebook, good work!

LauricGK 04-04-2012 10:58 AM

Thank you Varrok ;)

Sekto Springs 04-04-2012 11:05 AM

I love your Flying Slig, Lauric!

Perhaps I could borrow the model for my film... when you're done with it, of course ;)

Oddey 04-04-2012 11:59 PM

Sweet mother of odd... It looks fantastic.

DarkHoodness 04-05-2012 05:35 AM

That's looking incredibly good so far, Lauric. :)

Versus 04-05-2012 11:54 PM

This Slig is fantastic! When he will be textured he will look like improved original model from developers!

LauricGK 04-10-2012 02:23 AM

Thanks guys, I'll be back very soon with more funny pictures of the slig ;)

LauricGK 04-10-2012 09:13 AM

Okay, I'm teasing again...
Here is one of the slig position he (they) will take.

http://www.affectueusement-votre-eco.../r19-pres7.jpg

I know, that sounds funny. He's not dancing, I sware :)

...But this could be a good idea, hmm ? ^^

LauricGK 04-11-2012 02:42 AM

The first one who find what the hell he's doing, win !

STM 04-11-2012 02:59 AM

Playing guitar?

Varrok 04-11-2012 03:15 AM

Pulling a lever? Nah, that's stupid. He's a toreador (or, if you prefer, torero) and he's playing with bulls

DarkHoodness 04-11-2012 04:25 AM

Isn't that one of the poses the Newscaster makes?

LauricGK 04-11-2012 12:34 PM

Haha, nope !
Well, there is no reason for you to find what the slig is really doing, I just said that for fun :) But nicely tried !

More soon ;)

Oddey 04-12-2012 10:56 AM

Turning a very large and difficult valve.

The pose looks fairly natural actually, if a little stiff.
