OANST 01-31-2011 01:11 PM

Since I'm the only one being understanding, I will expect to see my face front and center on your creation.

STM 01-31-2011 01:14 PM

You got it.

Havoc 01-31-2011 01:56 PM

Oh god...

Phylum 01-31-2011 02:25 PM

I'd buy it.

Ridg3 01-31-2011 02:39 PM

Can we at least add OANST to the voting list, I'd like to cast a vote.

Nate 01-31-2011 06:57 PM

Scrabtrapman: Ignore Havoc. You know what he's like.

If you don't want OddHunter white-anting you, all you need to do is explain the image in your previous post. Tell us what we're seeing so that we can understand what you have done.

Mudokon_Master 01-31-2011 09:34 PM

Yeah I'm really sorry about what happened STM, the theme will probably turn out great and you're the one who's actually putting their spare time into this trying to get it done, even after your family loss. Don't listen to Havoc or Oddhunter.

Crashpunk 02-01-2011 04:39 AM

How about a Paramonia and Scrabania theme in one.
e.g. each on at different sides. then have a Scrab, Paramite and Elum on the banner.

If there was a theme template I could give this a go.

Nate 02-01-2011 05:21 AM

As we said to Scrabtrapman, the theme template is the page you're looking at right now. Simply replace every single tiny image and you're done. And then do it again for horizontal postbit.

Can the layout be changed by editing the HTML file without screwing everything up?

You can't screw it up, cos you have no direct ability to affect OWF.net

However, you can save the page in offline mode and you get all the HTML and CSS you need and all the pics, and you can edit away to your heart's desire.

STM 02-01-2011 10:02 AM

Ok, I am picking up again, I reckon the funeral is coming soon, I hope. But I'm doing some small things like re-creating the little squiggly things that appear in the native theme. The problem is, I'm taking the native theme as a base but a Necrum colour scheme is a nightmare, I think I said before.

And I'm not ignoring you Nate, I'll say again, the image was the title image that will be at the top of the board, like the picture of paramonian temple and abe on his elum with the ODDWORLD FORUM font in big letters. I hope to do something like that. With a Necrum background, some nice necrum font and a fleech. I hope that answers your questions but I'm not great at explaining things.

Okay, but why were there three different images? What were the rectangles representing? What's with the five small rectangles right above the longest image?

Manco 02-01-2011 11:26 PM

And why were they all slapped together on a single white background?

T-nex 02-02-2011 02:12 AM

I looked into the way the page is sliced, and I have to say, I'd probably grow white hairs before I learned to have patience with that header. It's sliced into like 5 different pieces O_o ... Which is fine when you initially want to slice it, but having to replace those images, I'd say would be annoying as hell. Well, it can be done... But STM, if you're going to go on with this, just be aware of that fact X_x

If you need help with any of this, you can PM me or any of the other self-professed designers, I'm sure. But I really also recommend making a thread in FC.

Also, I don't think you should take this up just yet if you don't feel ready for it. Just do whatever makes you feel good.

AvengingGibbons 02-02-2011 04:35 AM

im assuming the 5 or 6 or so little squares would be tiled for use as the background, and the rectangle with the nexrum trees are sections of the banner?... STM, you need to create the banner as a whole first, then split it up when it's complete. This way would be a lot easier. (Here, I'm assuming you're doing each section of the banner individually. If you are, then dont - do it as a whole banner, then section it to fit in the table)

T-nex 02-02-2011 04:56 AM

The thing is he has to know exactly the dimensions of each slice, which can be tedious... Unless he learns how to manipulate the CSS and HTML code, which will make the job much easier and more pleasant.

STM 02-02-2011 08:45 AM

Sorry, I haven't explained well. Only one of those is the banner I was using, the others are images I tried but didn't like but didn't delete just in case. I'll upload a new update soon anyway.

Havoc 02-02-2011 03:27 PM

You know, when designing a template you should have the HTML adapt to the image, not the other way around. Just design what you think looks good/functional and hand that over to whomever is going to put it into code, which will probably be Alcar.

The only reason he suggested you use this page as reference is because it has (almost) all the elements used throughout a vBulletin template on one page. So if you were to create a topic page in photoshop, Alcar can slice it up and alter the HTML to suit that.

Dixanadu 02-05-2011 01:46 PM

Stockyard's Free Fire Zone.

Man, that would be sooo coool :(

STM 02-06-2011 03:45 AM

Never satisfied Dix.

Anyway I'm pretty much back on track now and I've got this project and a side project I'm working on, the side project being a neat little non-related game.

So I might as well reveal this now:

Title Image : In development.

What is this? A title image at stage two of development, I have yet to add any effects or wording or sub images onto it, (e.g. like the mounted Abe in the Paramonian theme)

Are you ever going to add effects or get anything beyond MS paint? Yep, soon, I'll transfer this over to GIMP and add it all on there.

What stage in development is this image? 2/4

Why the big OANST face? I am trying to incorporate something OANSTy into the theme like I promised but it'll have to be a little bit more crypic OANST, sorry! XD

AvengingGibbons 02-06-2011 11:37 AM

i always imagined OANST had a grey beard and wrinkly skin, but he's actually quite a handsome young devil.. relatively speaking.

STM.. nice work. It almosts look like it wasnt done on MSPaint ^_-

STM 02-06-2011 11:46 AM

Haha, It ain't tuned up yet AG but thanks.

abe is now! 02-07-2011 11:26 AM

I vote for FeeCo.

Elmatto753 02-07-2011 11:40 AM

How the hell did shaman manage to vote twice?

MA 02-07-2011 12:27 PM

because he's a cheating, Wiccan bastard, and we love him for it.

he probably sacrificed a goat and chanted for a month just to do that.

Elmatto753 02-07-2011 12:47 PM

A month is an awfully long time to be sacrificing the one goat.

MA 02-07-2011 12:50 PM

FUCK YOU

Dixanadu 02-08-2011 11:02 AM

bomb those goats

STM 02-08-2011 11:12 AM

I'm gonna play mod here and say stay on topic or GTFO. I know there's not much to say since you've seen the above image already basically so if there's no criticism of the piece beyond, yuck it's in MS paint, just keep yer traps shut until there's new shit.

MA 02-08-2011 12:12 PM

STM's the big dawg now.

MeechMunchie 02-08-2011 01:52 PM

This is his thread, to be fair. And I don't mean he started it, I mean it's actually about him and his... 'work'.

MA 02-08-2011 02:59 PM

MM's the big dawg now.

The Off-topic Fairy is shocked to find herself agreeing with Scrabtrapman. Please leave the detritus out of this thread.

AvengingGibbons 02-09-2011 12:51 AM

Nate that's not actually you is it?! :O.. x)

STM, I opened the files in Dreamweaver and sorted them all out. But I think a lot of things still aren't displaying, particularly the tiled background. When I saved the webpage from my browser (google chrome) I couldn't see the background image file. Any ideas? (I'm talking about the thin blue and black stripes that are tiled at each side of the main webpage)

STM 02-09-2011 09:00 AM

Don''t worry AG, I'm not nearly done yet, is there an outlying problem with the images though, all they are are BMPs so should be ok since I run OWF from chrome also.

I was talking about the files when I save the webpage, not any of your work.

STM 02-10-2011 08:36 AM

Ahh, ne'r mind then.

STM 02-17-2011 01:08 PM

Ok, so I'm keeping you up to date, I nearly finished the title image, I just gotta finish off a fleech image to attach to it and then I have to add a suitable font. Then I'll post it below.
