Haaaaaah, nice to read that having to wait till the PS3 release won't be such a bad thing. Tough luck for all you guys wanting to play Stranger in a decent way though.
|
You could also try Pinnacle Game Profiler, which works with most game controllers and lets you use them in games without built-in support.
You'll probably still need to get the drivers for your controller though. |
@AvengingGibbons:
I tried using those, they're a bit wonky, but it has no use, Munch crashes every 5 seconds now... and stranger won't booth. Even though my specs are more then good. windows 7 64bit i7 with 8gig ram Ati 5750 |
If JAW won't patch Munch, who will?
My MO crashed twice already, I only got like 30-40 spooce and then it crashed. The same thing happened when I was chanting the gate. Otherwise, Munch for PC looks amazing somehow, I think it looks and controls a bit better than SW. |
^^^We've currently got nothing to go on about MO - I've tweeted JAW about this, see what they say.
:
I did read a theory that ATI graphics cards aren't working very well here, but that's just anecdotal. EDIT: Here's some good news for you guys: :
:
|
:
|
Don't know, for me it crashed the first time when I was in the first cavern jumping on the ledges and the second time when I jumped and started to chant the gate.
Also, what exactly is a 'null pointer'? |
JAW has said they'll pass word about Munch's Oddysee on.
Also, just to confirm something: :
:
|
MO crashes after a few minutes jumpin around.
|
:
Apparently Munch has more customisation than Stranger in terms of controls, by the way. Keep checking JAW Ltd.'s Twitter feed guys, that's our best source of info right now. And make sure to CONTACT THEM with any bug reports you have: :

I haven't experienced many issues; I crashed once in MO (problem Paul pointed out) but other than that MO is fine.
Stranger's Wrath runs awesomely; the framerate does drop occasionally so there is some sort of issue anyway with it, but it's fine to play for now. Controls were only very slightly finnicky until I got used to them but it's all fine now. Kinda offtopic, but Paul, what is your Steam name? =P |

Well I just tried it again; I started from the beginning. I can prove that I've left the cave since I have the achievement for it; however it crashed for me when loading Spooceshrub forest (nearer the end).
Would upload pictures videos but for now http://steamcommunity.com/id/Chubfis...b=achievements check my achievements too sleepy to care for today. |
I'll have to wait until my new video card arrives to be able to play these on a PC. Hopefully it won't be too much longer; I might just buy them now so I don't miss the sale.
|
This is an absolutely shameful port. I have no idea how this got passed testing and quality control.
|
Is the opening cutscene for Strangers Wrath broken for everybody else? Right near the end it cuts out.
Apart from that the game plays well with my 360 controller, hopefully it's optimised more and made PC friendly in patches, but right now it works for me so I'm happy. EDIT: I take that back, the game freezes when I get to the town and the opening_end.bik movie is meant to play. The game is literally unplayable for me. I also suggest not charging for the graphics update next year, you're not going to win fans on the PC platform by charging them for updates, take the Valve approach and release it for free. Good publicity. |
Charging for an update for any PC game is stupid unless it's like a full blown expansion pack or something. The only reason companies like Activision charge for simple map updates in the Call of Duty games is because they can't stop eating money.
|
Its a good thing that they will NOT be charging for any updates then isn't it? That would be mental :P
|
Changing the properties of Munch.exe to match this http://i.imgur.com/J9UN7.png might help those who can't get past the first stage without it crashing. It made the problem less occuring for me.

Hmm, I thought that Oddysee and Exoddus were also due to receive some achievements? :fuzconf:
|
:
|
:
Munch is seriously buggy :S The only sound that works is voices and then it crashed a minute in. |
:
I know sod all really about the achievement system, but wouldn't it of been possible to have a small application running with Oddysee/Exoddus that simply checks the memory addresses of the game, then when the correct value is attained (i.e. complete the game with good ending), tah-dah you get an achievement? But as I say, I know nothing of how it all actually works lol :p |
:
|
Talking about achievements, they lack of creativity whatsoever!
They are all story related expect for some achievements in Munch where you have to collect an amount of non-regenerated spooceshrubs! Stranger could fit some nice achievements like "Capture all bossess" or "Buy all upgrades", but no, they are completely pointless, I was expecting more! Even the achievements tiles have the same problem! Really, why Oddworld Inhabitants, after creating such a wonderful and imaginary universe, cannot do the same with achievements? Big disappointment! |

I can understand lack of model/texture detail options in menu, but as for you said about SW resolution changer... It's just wrong. It sounds just bad. But better than NO SUCH option in Munch. |
Thanks Paul for your advice to check my video card-driver. Now Stranger works properly well on Medium. Ultra is just to laggy. =/
But I'm a little bit disapointed about the controls. Who had the idea to change the ammo with the key coursers - If my hand is more nearly to the mouse-wheel? Well and I've got the same problems like everyone with Munch. Before it starts the Spooce-Forest-Level it comes this failure message: http://www.fotos-hochladen.net/uploa...erkzas9y5j.jpg I could just ignore it and it shows me the flying camera over the spooce Forest Level and then the game crushes. Pretty bad what Oddworld are delivering to us. =/ |
Paul, one question: If you change res. in Stranger to an irregular one (by text file), does FOV change too? Or just stretched?
|
:
Also, new Oddworld.com post: For those experiencing technical issues with their Oddboxx :
Anyway, worth saying again (and maybe putting in the OP): get all of your bug reports for Stranger's Wrath to JAW Ltd. info@jawltd.com http://twitter.com/jawltd http://twitter.com/abemudokon Make sure to include your PC's specs and details of any issues you are having. For Munch's Oddysee, still no word on who to report bugs to. For now, maybe let JAW know there are issues, but don't worry about details since it won't be them fixing it. Alternatively, wait until we get some more info. REMEMBER: Before you report bugs, check all your drivers are up-to-date! |
:
I'm hoping it'll work after they've released a patch to fix the bugs (JAW are releasing a patch, right? Right?), I'll be waiting. |
Anyone having my problem with stranger's wrath?
The mouse is inverted both on the X & Y axis, the options menu doesn't do anything please help, I really want to play it. :fuzemb: |
What a shame about the achievements. It's fun to get achievements randomly in games like TF2, for something even as simple as running a few meters as Scout, or something as complex as the one I got today, "Repair a sentry that is taking fire while a medic heals you."
Yeah, why they couldn't have figured out how to do something like that with Stranger is... well, ODD. I can think of several scenarios right off the bat that could count as achievements. It's kind of annoying to just win achievements for getting through a part of the main plot. How about something like, "swim X amount of meters," "plant a fuzzle trap but kill the enemy with different ammo instead," "drown X amount of Chippunks" or "spend 60% or more of a level using melee attacks" and so on? See, that's fun, stuff you weren't even working towards. I KNOW there's more than one Gloktogi, or that I'm going to bag one of the bounties. |
Well I have solved the problem with the Visual C++ Library failure message 'cause I was following the link of DarkHoodness and download the actual Microsoft Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package but now if I talk to the first Mudokon and want him to open the first gate, the game crushes again without specific details about it. =(
|
In fact, what a shame about the whole goddamn release. What were they thinking? I just visited the Steam forums for this game and practically nobody is happy about the state that this game is in.
...Welcome back, Lorne and Sherry. |
I recommend posting bugs in the Steam forums: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...play.php?f=447
